Conner is going....Boone is not this year

This may be old news, but a poster is reporting on the Kentucky women's message board that Arnika did not qualify and is therefore enrolling in junior college. It seems credible based on some of the responses s/he has received. If this is a fact it would be a shame however; a lesson to standout athletes to buckle down on AND off the court.

Lymon is a senior headed to Middle Tenn State. Gray is a junior headed to Carolina.

I was going to leave that part out CootyB. I'm somewhat familiar with the Boone freshman. I can tell you that 3 of the 4 have been on pretty big stages so the pressure of their surroundings won't be a big factor like it would have been IMO. However, the "key" older players are so loose that it can only help keep things relaxed for the youngsters. Only a couple of people are giving them a chance "again". As stated above they seem to do okay in the underdog role. Let's hope they can at least give MC a decent game.

I guess only time will tell. Since the beginning of the season Boone has been playing the underdog role. Another week of it won't make much difference. Too many variables to attempt a prediction.

Boone probably prefers a half-court game, but they have 4 solid guards that can handle the ball and run. They had a last second loss to Christian County in a fast high scoring game as well as they beat Henry Clay who is a fast up-tempo team. I believe the team that gets the jitters out and settles down first will have the advantage.

Agree. It belongs under another topic. It can be hashed out exactly in the same manner as the 100 times before, by the same people as before, and will end up in the same place as before "No where".

Leave it alone GEEZ. NDA has two transfers on their current team. One from Conner and one from Villa and that's only the one's I know of for sure. When the KHSAA does put their foot down the private/independent schools will pay a much bigger price than public. I'm not familiar with VB & Soccer, but I bet that 2 or 3 of the schools listed above gain quite a few transfers for those sports as well and they will feel the pain of new rules. If you open your eyes to ALL sports ND has a young star golfer that left Beechwood to attend ND. Success always seems to bring this same discussion. This Boone team replaced 3 senior starters (2 region all stars) with freshmen and if you think that ANY coach could have taken them to this same point you are seriously diluted.

When Fooke's took away the over-the-top lob to ND's post players they were confused and had no idea what to do next because that is their bread and butter. Both teams missed a ton of bunnies and free throws. Someone said it best when they said "NDA knew that it was already over, but they forgot to show up and play the game first". Cooty: you are right on target. Meredith Reed's leadership and toughness is huge for this team. Her numbers do not show up in the box score often, but what she does in the paint is invaluable. Two of the three ND post players didn't make a field goal and Meredith had huge impact on disrupting their game. Congrat's to the lady Rebels and Good Luck in the sweet 16.

I agree ATHC. Hick's has been very inconsistent. When she is on she can change a whole game. She is way overdue for a big game.

There is no doubt that HC did the right thing and had the ball in the hands of their star where it should have been. The intent of my comment was not only to make sure Bradley got credit for being in the right place at the right time and for her poise in such a big game, but also to make sure that people understood that Lantry just didn't lose the ball while looking up. She is way too good for that and 9 out of 10 more times she would have taken it in for the win OR a very good shot at the win. The credit should go to Griffith for her solid defense on Lantry the whole game. Her ability to keep Lantry in front of her on the final play allowed Bradley to get her hand in there for the strip. If Boone plays like they did last night they will get whipped, but if they play their game like they have while beating top 10 competition there could quite possibly be a stunner in NKY.

Actually OG you are wrong. I'm sure you recorded the games and/or watched the replays on the news since you made the incorrect assessment above. The little girl stripped the ball from Lantry after a crossover and when she turned to take the ball up the floor she was mugged and calmly stepped up and knocked down the winning free throw. She also hit two NBA 3's in the first half when her team needed a spark. The news said her stats were 11pts, 6 assists, and 3 steals. It seems as though the freshmen you expected to fold under pressure didn't seem phased in such a big game. There is little doubt that NDA will win the region, but you were leaning very heavily toward an all catholic championship "like the boys" and you seem a little miffed it didn’t happen. Just relax. You'll get your championship, but give credit to a young team that was expected to do no better than .500. There were critical times in the game when they had 4 freshmen on the floor so regardless of what happens tonight they far exceeded expectations and should stand proud of what they have done this season. However, you might not want to count them out just yet since they are in a "no lose" situation at this point. Good luck tonight!!

I would say NDA takes the region, but IMO all of the pressure is on them because they are supposed to win and it's been that way since Nov/Dec. NDA seems to rely so much on being way ahead and hanging on that if one of these teams can stay within reach when the 4th quarter rolls around things could get very interesting. With all of that talent, anything other than a championship for NDA will be looked at as a failure and their fans will be calling for heads, again. Sneed & Lantry will not want it to end and will do everything they can to carry their teams into the finals. Boone was expected to be in the .500 neighborhood this season after replacing three senior starters, two of which were All-region, with freshman. It appears as though the youngsters haven't figured out that they are not supposed to win. Boone is certainly the underdog of these four and you don't hear that very often.

I spoke to one of her x-players. She said that Coach Murphy is loved by all of her players and it was a crying session when the news came out. Apparently she was let go due to a difference of opinions with the AD. Her record has been great at LCA. Not to mention she started 3 freshmen this year and had a very good record. They played Lex. Cath to a 7pt game this season with this team and that is a huge statement. If LCA was a public institution I doubt that this would have happened IMO.

The first game should be a very good match-up and go right down to the wire. It can honestly go either way IMO.

Agreed. The Girl didn't receive a "T" (easily could have). She thought it was a bad call and was coming out of the game and when the Lloyd student section got on her she lost it. I also agree that it can certainly come back to bite you during a crucial time.

Newport cannot play with NDA. Sneed will get her typical numbers, but she doesn't have enough help in a game like this to have a chance at an upset. The one area that will hurt NDA is her slashing down the middle. The 5th region ref's will not let anything go regardless of defensive position. If this happens again Sneed will live on the foul line and the NDA post players will be frustrated as they were last night. I heard the 5th region ref's allow a much more physical game and from what I have witnessed so far it has been less than stellar and definitely not physical. Several calls (both ways) last night were made without any contact at all and they seemed to just "assume" there would be. The game just cannot get into a flow with whistle happy refs. There have been no close games yet where calls were a factor. Let's just hope the remaining games are determined by the play on the floor because the next couple of games should be right down to the wire.

St. Henry had no intensity and looked as if they were just content with making it to the regionals IMO. They had several opportunities early in the game to keep it close due to NDA mistakes, but went down the floor and made unforced errors to give it back. Oh well, congrat's on a nice season.

I agree with HC coming out ahead of Highlands. Dixie may be able to hold off Boone. However, I don't think you will see the same Boone effort as you did 2 weeks ago. I will be very surprised if the outcome is less than double digits, but I have been wrong many times before.
