Jim Schue Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Christian County's Arnika Brown voted POY; Scott County's Steve Helton voted COY. Congratulations to those so honored. H-L All-State team
doubledeuce Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I would but Rachel Lantry on the 1st team ahead of Amber Norton. Yes,I saw Notron play 3 times this year alone she was not the best player on her team IMO. Lantry definetly,at the very least, 2nd team ahead of Brooke Faulkner. NKY again gets next to nothing as far as recognition by the rest of the state.

Goliath Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Rose Hill with no player on the 1st or 2nd team... thats a laugher.

Jim Schue Posted April 12, 2006 Author Posted April 12, 2006 Rose Hill with no player on the 1st or 2nd team... thats a laugher. Then tell us who should come off, and who you think should be on in their place. Nothing against the three Rose Hill girls who were listed honorable mention, but I've seen Rose Hill, and I've seen all the players on the first and second teams, and I can't definitively say they are better than anyone on the first/second teams. There's simply a lot of girls talent in the state, and you could make a case for a number of players to be on the first/second teams.
marooncat Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 the main problem with the all-state team is when the ballots are turned in before the district. If a player has a great post season to go along with a good season they still might not make it.
doubledeuce Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Actually Fay looked better than Lantry. I am shocked to hear that,Fay usually just sits at the 3point line and shoots.
bb junkie Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I am shocked to hear that,Fay usually just sits at the 3point line and shoots. In this game.
hokiefromky Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Rose Hill with no player on the 1st or 2nd team... thats a laugher. I'm a bit suprised that at least one of them did not make the 1st or 2nd team, but the fact that Rose Hill placed three with Honorable Mentions says a lot about the team. Besides Lexington Catholic, Rose Hill, and Scott County, no other team in the state had more than one player listed at all. I'll join that elite company!
Cubster Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Rose Hill with no player on the 1st or 2nd team... thats a laugher. Need to write a letter to the editor of Lexington Herald Leader.
Cubster Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I feel the 16th region had some other players who deserved at least honorable mention. Also any of the three RH girls could have made the first two teams. This region has top notch players and sometimes get snubbed in the voting.
ScottCountyFan Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Need to write a letter to the editor of Lexington Herald Leader. This poll is based on coaches' votes.
Frances Bavier Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 This poll is based on coaches' votes. If it is based on coaches' votes, then that explains why some areas of the state might not get the recognition that they deserve. As for Jim Schue's question "Who would you take off, and who would you put on the team" - that is both a fair question, and one that can be asked of any (and every) all-star team. In answer to that question, I can't say who I would take off the team (I haven't seen any of them play), but I'd definitely have to say that Queen would get my vote. And yes, I make no bones about the fact that I am biased. :thumb: And as marooncat stated, the fact that the voting is done prior to the state tournament certainly wouldn't have helped in the case of Laura Terry (who absolutely tore it up at Diddle).
