Tough to see Cory come up sore, but I think Joe Renda pitched a pretty good game, pitched his way out of a couple of jams and games like these will only make him better in the future. At least the Raiders are swinging the bats, good things will come from that.

A successful bunt moves the runners 100% of the time. Hitting away may yeild a 30 to 40 % success rate. A coach is not there to build one particular hitters confidence in that situation, he is there to help his TEAM win.

Mike Schum was their ace last year, pitched for the Kings in the summer. We took Kyle with us for a Nashville tourney and the poor kid got bombed. Gave up back to back johnsons, walked the next batter and that was pretty much it for the rest of the tourney. Nice kid though, at least he could laugh it off.

Dixie seems to be much better this year...the Raiders had their number the past few years. As long as the Raiders get it together by May they will be fine.

No, he quit a couple of games into the 07 season.

I thought they looked pretty solid against CCH ( the only B wood game I saw this year) but they haven't won a game since.

Funny how these spiking incidents just now occured and with one particular first baseman....the starting first basemen for Scott didn't seem to have a problem the 5 or 6 inings he was playing first base.

I think he only pitched 3 against Ryle and had control issues.

Ryle started freshmen Friedel (sp) at short and soph Logan Carnie at second and I thought they made a great statement at how strong the Raiders will be in the middle infield for years to come. Very strong 5 innings for Cory Rieder who threw harder and had better control then Adams, who went six. Happy to see that Coach Roesel had confidence in Joe Renda to come into a tie game and throw a strong couple of innings. Etch closed it out in typical fashion. All 3 Raiders pitchers pitched their way out of a couple of jams that could hav changed the complection of the game. # 8 came in and pitched 3 or 4 strong innings for the Eagles. Both teams hit the ball hard at times, just right at the D.

It's Holmes guys....Charlie Lovan threw a 1 hitter against them and I don't recall anyone comparing him to Nolan Ryan.

I don't know guys, we pitched to him all four at bats and he went 1 for 4. Why give anybody a free base?

Exactly...they got the job done, didn't walk many and gave us a chance to win every game we were in. But, if you recall Cov Cath fielding has been taking a beating on the field and on BGP and obviously they played better this weekend. I guess I look at stats and read a lot into them but that's what they are there for.

No, been around the game long enough to know what a pitcher is supposed to do. If you remember last year, Ryle did not have a set em up / sit em down dominating pitcher yet they won 37 games with a tremoundus defense and good hitters. Our pitching only averaged 4 K's a game, but on average we put 9 runs on the board per game. I feel CCH is in a similar situation if they play D. But dominating pitching......Not.

Haven't seen him throw this year, but sounds pretty much like last year, throws hard, no control....one would think he would have worked on that in the off season. As far as good gene pool...ask Pete Jr how that worked out for him.

Just think the struggling CCH defense and hitters deserve as much or more credit according to the stats....as I said, Cov Cath does not have a dominating pitcher this year and if their D continued to struggle, their pitching staff would not have had the success that they did this weekend.

Point is CCH has a few kids that can throw the ball over the plate and not walk too many batters. 4 K's a game average indicates that 17 batters put the ball in play, so I don't see any big pitching achivement. Apparently CCH played good D and hit the ball well, but overwelming pitching? Sorry, I don't buy it....saw too many of those kids pitch to believe that.
