The eighth grade teams had a good run in the mid 2000s. I'm not sure but maybe 1 state championship, and I know one state finalist. I think the team with Stephen Kwolonek also did well. not sure about after that though.

Mahi and Gumbo at the Bayou Fish House yesterday. Outstanding!

Had breakfast there a while ago. Just remember it being crowded, and really warm. haven't returned. Maybe just a bad day for them.

What you're not seeing is the 2,000 rug rats in the play area. Kids got in free that night. And believe me most were not in seats.

I was at NKUs game Saturday night, and besides a Blake Shelton concert, easily the most folks I have seen in that arena. 6-7000 seems reasonable

It seems like Highlands always has really young players on varsity.

Relax. Just a term from a coach that had a bunch of them from back in the day.

Don't like the stall strategy. Tells your team that you can't compete, and you need to rely on chicanery to not get blown out. Even if you are close at the end, team will not be in the right mind set to win the game. Rarely if ever works out. I think Highlands should be able to compete straight up. Go LadyBirds!!

Vories, Sullivan, Muntis, Fischer, Malone cousins, Dave and Jim. Schlarman played early 80s. Up until Smith and Lorenzen, 79 team was probably the best ever at HHS.

And Dickie Beal went to UK. Way outside the 20 year window also.

After the auto expo, went to the Moerlein Lager House. Packed. Took 10 minutes to get to the host. was told 1.5 hours and thats not guaranteed. Told bar and beer garden seating were 1st come 1st serve. Decided to go to the bar upstairs. Kind of a shark tank feeling with people waiting for people to get up. Ordered a beer, (OTR), 15 minutes in and the every wary Mrs. Crunch has secured 2 seats with a gorgeous view. Ordered fried pickles for an app. Tasty. I ordered surf and turf, and mrs. ordered grilled tilapia. The food was outstanding. Service impeccable, and prices reasonable. Bill was 77 bucks. I recommend it.

Back in the day? You mean when Highlands was good in BOTH football and basketball? I guess that would fit where NCC is now. Kudos to them!
