  1. I am not defending coach Combs, but I can very well see why he did what he did. If he would have won that game then everyone would have been saying what a smart move he made. I am not taking anything away from KCC because they did win the game, but I never would have thought they could have held Lee to 3 runs. In baseball you have to plan ahead sometimes. It just didn't pan out the way he planed. When you are a small school and only have a limited number of quility pitchers decisions must be made for later down the road.
  2. I have been around the kids from Owsley since they were in grade school. I know them as well as anyone other than their parents. I agree with Kids Fan. Robert is one of the most atheletic kids I have ever personally had any dealings with and I think by seasons end Robert will be one of the best players in the 14th region, but he has to prove himself again. I really hate to see the fans talk about him the way they do on the basketball forums when most don't even know him. He made a mistake by transferring to Clay and he paided for it, and you know the whole time I never heard him complain other than he wished he could play. Me personally I hope he reaches his full potential.
  3. i am not saying Smith and Congelton are not good players. Bowling does not play the outfield so no doubt Congelton is a better outfielder. Bowling is a catcher and a good one too. He also hits the ball very hard and for a high average. No doubt Smith is one heck of a pitcher and a very very good hitter. I'll be glad when baseball season starts every team in this district will be fun to watch and everyteam has very good players. You know a team we are all forgetting about is Estill and I will bet they will have as good of players as any team in the region.
  4. He is a pretty good catcher IMO, I cannot say if he is any better than Baker, but I am saying if Baker is better than him Baker is a super catcher which I think he is and I think Bowling is too and the kid from Kott County Central is too.
  5. You know the funny thing is everyone here put Smith and Congelton ahead of Bowling from Owsley County, when he has been one of the best in the region for two years now. Imagine that, Congelton and Smith are very good players, and Smith could be the best, but as of right now Bowling is the best on Owsleys team the other two have to prove themselves. McIntosh is also a very good player, time will tell.
  6. I will agree with Kids Fan, Mr. Wood will soon join the upper level of coachs in the 14th.
  7. Not saying that the ones mentioned above are not they are. IMO
  8. I agree Brain Dean and Gene Combs are two that would be hard to beat.
  9. I agree Kids Fan. I know thats why Owsley struggles our little league system isn.t very good here, but it is getting better and until it gets much better Owsley will have trouble competing. With summer basketball it is hard to put together a summer team as well. We had a 13 to 16 year old team this year that did real well hopefully it carry.s over.
  10. I agree with sixtyfeetsix Trey is the key for Owsley. Robert can play with anybody, Neeley can shoot, if Trey can learn to take people off the dribble then Owsley will be alright. I think all Trey needs to do is do it to get his confidence up and things will work out just fine. Dustin Wilson is a rebounding machine way to go.
  11. Mountain Man I wasn't talking about you. I have seen Greenups coach, coach a few games and if I were a game offical I don't think he would get any close calls either. Thats my opinion though.
  12. Whine and cry thats all a lot of people like to do. When you get beat you get beat. Do you expect to get the calls away from home? I think Jackson City deserve credit, they must have played an outstanding game. That kind of behavior does follow with the players into the game.
  13. Not really bigcat44 baseball team is the same as last year just add Robert Smith. Everyone else is back. All use fans just hope they can compete it is going to be hard to our district should be one of the better ones in the region with the big three in it.
  14. By the way I have read the postings. I don't think I missed anything when I posted.
  15. I think Augger summed it up best.
  16. Does Smith being back really bother people that much, or if Neely and Smith were argueing. Smith is a good athelete that made a mistake he payed for his mistake and he is back playing now. Why should Owsley call Lee County and tell them that Neeley and Smith were going to play? Is basketball that important? Why not be glad you have a good team. Did Robert make a difference in the outcome of the game, or did Lee want to run the score up more than the point spread was anyway? I wasn't at the game and really I am glad I wasn't. It is good to be competative but when it comes to this stuff maybe the two teams shouldn't play at all.
  17. Very true professor Robert did brake his nose two tears ago playing baseball I was there that evening, and just recently had his nose rebroken. I think I might be waring a nose guard too. But I am sure Robert could care less what people think he is the one that went through it all. Owsley has basically ran the same offense for years so why wouldn't he know the plays.
  18. Leslie is very good hard to believe there are ten better teams in the mountains than they are. In all fairness I have not seen all the other teams in the top ten play yet either.
  19. I don't know who is doing it or do I care, but nobody can say Lee is not playing good ball. I don't know if coach Wright is doing it, but since they are doing so well I would say he has a big hand in it. There are always people who like this coach better than that one and so forth, what really matters is the program doing better and Lee's is so my hat goes off to coach Wright
