WYMT Mountain Top 10 - Boys!!!

Any thoughts on who should or shouldn't be there?

Not to disagree in any way that those don't deserve to be there, but Leslie County has a strong case for the top 10 also.

Bell shouldn't be there and Leslie should.

I don't see how Leslie can be left out.

Yeah, I think Leslie should be up there...hard to argue against a Bell team that just beat Perry Cenrtal though. I'm not so sure bout Belfry.

Not to disagree with you.... but I dont understand how Bell can beat PCC and Harlan convincingly while Clay can lose to PCC and barely squeak out a win against Harlan, yet Clay deserves to be there and Bell doesnt. Not to mention that PCC is ahead of Bell. I also dont see how you can say Leslie deserves to be in there while North Laurel doesnt.

 

I think from the 13th you could put Bell, Cawood, Corbin, Clay, Barbourville, or North in the Mnt Top 10 and theyd deserve to be there, and this is because of the parity in the 13th, and the parity in the mountains in general. It just so happens that Barbourville (who REALLY deserves to be there) and Clay and Bell (who could be there, or could be replaced by a few other schools from the 13th) are in it! My point is that there is alot of parity in the mountains and any number of teams could make the top 10 and it be a deserving honor.

 

The problem with WYMT's rankings is that they have to encompass the entire mountain area, not just a specific region, and therefore it is hard to come up with a legitimate mountain top 10 when alot of these teams dont play each other, dont play similar opponents, and dont play great competition state wide.

 

Its alot easier to do for football because of class and because most of your best football schools in the mountains play pretty good competition from all across the state, but with basketball you dont have this.

 

I think the crew at WYMT tries to consider all the games played by each of these teams and then make an objective decision as to who belongs and that is hard to do.

I'm just going by what I saw at the CFIT with the Bell. I believe they have suffered some injuries or something because they looked young and IMO not that good. I know when they beat Perry, the Commodores had some players that was sick and didn't play...at least that's what I was told.

Lee County didn't have much trouble with Bell in the Johnson Central tournament. I think you're right about the Perry-Bell game.....Perry had some kids out.

Leslie has won 6 out of there last 7 basketball games & that one loss came against Lexington Catholic @ Catholic by about 14. IMO I think they should be in there somewhere but Im sure they don't care to much as long as they keep beating there region opponents.

Which with all fairness, I think Bell has their best player out, Whitaker, with an injury.

I agree, they have to be top 10. I mean, LexCath, who beat Scott County last night, only beat them about 15 in the 5/3 tournament.

Yeah...Lelslie is the best in the 14th and should be on there somewhere no doubt.

I don't know a thing about Leslie because I've not watched them yet but I have watched Bell and I agree with you Les they don't belong on the list.
