Congratulations Elliott. Timmy Knipp was awsome. Greenup Co. was game, but Elliott was just too talented. -
Elliott Co. and Greenup Co. predictions
Uncle Jed replied to 3Ball's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Beating up an 8 and 20 team that you have allready beat by 70 points earlier in the season only sends one message. I would think a good coach would take care of the win and prepare for the next game. We will see what happens. -
Ashland 51 Bath Co. 46 (16th region, 1st rd.)

No hard feelings at all. I would hope the players on the Ashland squad wouldn't have hard feelings for the "Voice of the Tomcats". His remarks about their "awful" shooting was the reason for my post. Ashland showed a lot of guts in the last two games, I respect that. -
Carroll Co's Coach Dave Miller Resigns
Uncle Jed replied to True blue (and gold)'s topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Miller is a good father and now a good grandfather. He has dedicated his adult life to helping kids. I would like to see him find a place to coach in the 16th. -

Congratulations to Ashland. Stats don't matter here. Winning games matters. -

What message, that he can humiliate an inferior team? -
Hillary Just Said Something I like...

If you can get the military to pay for your student loans you acquire before joining you should do it. I may be wrong, but I don't think that is how it works. The State Police also have a program to assist in paying for college of their troopers, as do some other state agencies, also some local governments. What you are talking about is the Federal government paying off loans students promised to pay yourself prior to their employment. These are two different issues. -

You are right my question was slightly off topic. I don't think it is a good idea to excuse anyone from a loan they obtained legally and knowingly. My question though was to see just what kind of person is being attracted to law enforcement these days. I think your refusal to answer the question tells me a lot. An honest person will pay his debts. -

Halfback20, I have a hypothetical question for you. What would you do if for some reason there were no penalties for not paying back the loans? -
Sportsfan41, I think you should apply for local, county, and state law enforcement jobs. The experience may help you obtain a job at the federal level, and will make you a better federal agent. You may even enjoy the work and wish to stay, I did. If law enforcement is the field you feel called to do, then nothing else will satisfy you.

Why wouldn't you feel obligated to pay back your lenders? -
Rowan and Rose Hill played a couple of years ago, I think in the Raceland Tournament. I may be wrong.

Bell I was a police officer for twenty-one years prior to my retirement a year and a half ago. For me it was a great fit. I enjoyed the challenge. Also the job provided me with a lot of options, specializations, I chose to go into investigations and was very pleased with my choice. But Guru is right. It would have been very difficult for me to continue for many more years due to the constant pressure and stress. I was able to retire and received a very good pension. I am afraid the pension is not going to be there for those who are now starting their career. I would not want to discourage anyone who feels they want to become a police officer. It is a great field that will care for you and your family as long as you don’t embarrass the job. I would recommend you continue your education prior to making a decision and then maybe consider federal jobs. Good Luck.

After seeing Ashland play last night, I'm not so sure that Bath has an easy game. I think there are a lot of matchup problems for Bath. If Thomas can guard Clemmons, I will really enjoy watching that matchup, Ashland can and probably will win.

To win the region you have to beat Elliott Co. May as well face them in the second game. I am not trying to minimize the abilities of Rowan Co. I know that Rose Hill will have to play well to get past them.

I'm sorry, but I wasn't bashing the officials. My only comment was that the style of game the officials called, which can vary from official to official / game to game, helped Ashland keep Rose Hill close. It says a lot about the coaching staff at Ashland to adapt to the officiating. If you want to address the complaints about officiating call the Home of Tomcat Basketball, B97.1. Dickie whined all night. You are right I would not be able to call a grade school game, too fat.

McCain Apologizes for Bill Cunningham's Remarks
Uncle Jed replied to Birdsfan's topic in Kentucky / National Politics
I also don’t understand why using a man’s given name is wrong. I am not a fan of Barack Hussein Obama, but it has nothing to do with his name. I don’t like his politics. The people who will use his middle name as an excuse to not vote for him are no more ignorant than people who use his race as justification to vote for him, or use Hillery’s gender as a reason to vote for her. These people are in a popularity contest. The one who receives the most votes, MAY, become the leader of the free world. People will use a lot of different reasons to vote or not vote for them. -
I sure hope so.

Rose Hill vs. Ashland Predictions
Uncle Jed replied to thewalrus's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Rose Hill has never won a district championship, boys. They are very motivated. I know Ashland is also motivated to avoid losing and being swept. Both teams will play very hard and leave it on the floor. It will be a great game. -

Good game Royals. Might as well win the district now. And before I forget, I would like to take back anything good I said about Billman.
