  1. Rose Hill has proven they can run a quality tournament. From what I have seen from other games in this district the Stew is plenty big enough. Now back to the topic. A struggling team will beat another struggling team, and we will hear how both will be there at the end.
  2. No Francis I'm just not too bright. I type faster than my brain works.
  3. I think we are all in agreement here. I know this poll means nothing except for entertainment. I just thought since it is done weakly it should reflect the teams and the way they are currently playing.
  4. I have admitted that Ashland has a tough schedule. I also admit they have talent. They are just not winning games. At what point does that come into consideration?
  5. What did Ashland do this weak? I am not an Elliot Co. supporter. I'm just trying to be fair.
  6. 1 through 3 have set themselves apart from the others. The rest can win or lose on any night. I just think rankings should be made based on performance. Give teams credit for winning.
  7. I agree they have one of the hardest schedules in the state. I also agree they have talent and a good coach. But they have not beaten anybody. I think Elliot has the potential of getting beat by anybody in the region. But as of 1/8/06 they have played better. If this poll is about who will be there in the end then why do it every week. Just do one and let that be it.
  8. I think your selling Elliot Co. short. They and possibley Greenup Co. should be ranked above Ashland. Ashland has a worse record and they have only beaten teams that they should have beaten. They have not proven they can beat Elliot, Greenup, or even Rowen Co. What is Ashland's ranking based on?
  9. I predict nobody from Boyd Co. will put their forehead on the line.
  10. I think there are two very good teams in the district. Ashland hasn't proven anything this year. If the truth be known Ashland stands to benifit from a draw more this year than they would if they were seeded. This way they stand a chance to get Rose Hill. Rose Hill isn't an automatic bye this year either.
  11. This game was very well played by both teams. Rose Hill cut the lead to about six, I think in the third and then again by nine in the fourth. Fairview hit their free throws and rebounded well. It was also entertaining to watch both coaches work. This tournament was ran very well. All the teams in the tournament should be commended.
  12. What is a scholarship? Isn't it money given to a student to pay for an education? If I live in Boyd County in the Ashland School district and I decide to send my son to Russell High School in Greenup Co., and I don't pay taxes in the county or the school district isn't my son receiving a scholarship if I don't have to pay his tuition? I am not pointing fingers, this is just an example. Or aren't all public giving all students a scholarship paid by the taxpayers? Can someone please explain why it is not the same. I have no problem with the rule. I just think it should be equally enforced.
  13. Just because some schools choose not to participate in "open enrollment" practices, doesn't mean they aren't available to them. The fact is some schools do practice open enrollment. So if it's not fair that public schools have to compete with private schools for the reason you state, then isn't just as unfair to have to compete with public schools practicing open enrollment? Let's have a third division.
  14. Ricky P, I think you are missing the point here. There are advantages. Some schools receive an amount of money from everybody who pays a utility bill in that school district, some schools recieve money from the state and federal government to not only hire teachers, but to build new libraries and athletic buildings, some schools have busses that go to a student's house and picks them up, and some schools have free and reduced lunch programs for virtually any student who asks for it. And by the way no student is charged tuition to attend these schools. There clearly is an advantage.
