16th region starting 5
In My Opinion replied to kele_okereke's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Why not just wait till they are sitting around in the gym at Rose Hill, chewing the fat with the coaches and watching the boys do their thing and ask 'em. [ Billy and Mark]They are probably there at least once or twice a week. Are they really trying to get a rule passed where they can take 'em before they play one game of freshman ball straight to college? -

I like Knott Centrals gym for the seating, it doesn't have the pull out bleachers but, you have so many steps to climb. PCC is just not as nice , but easier to get to the seats. It all started at KCC. Was played there for years. I think it is alright to change from one to the other as it makes the traveling better for teams at least every other year. I think they do know who is playing. -
Probably like old Bill Walker, they run out of folding chairs. The kid didn't have a seat in the 9th grade and he didn't want to take chances on being ruled ineligible. You think?

Stepp still has 2 years to play high school ball, so how can you look ahead that far and say what he will be able to do at the end of his high school years ? -

I don't guess these players got to experience the wonderful feeling of a big time tourny. -
Walker's appeal denied

You should invest in some recliners for sports sake. Sounds like Bill didn't stay long enough for it to bother him, one way or the other. -

I was just asking a question, as this is the first time I have really known what was said. I didn't intended to ignore anything. Especially "the weight of the documented facts." I just read the article and that is what it implied. I will go back and read it again. -

If he had stayed at RH, do you think someone would have seen to it that he didn't mess up. Why put him in the 9th grade because they didn't have a seat for him in the 8th grade? Is that how you place students in grades ?guess it is with basketball players. Just to get him a place in the school. -

Such a shame for a player with Walkers talents. Sounds like he was used by adults for his ability to play basketball, with out a thought given to his future.. -
Congrats to the KY Patriots!

Nobody hates the Patriots , don't flatter yourself. You have to deal with how they are handeled. -

How many different names is that, and how about when they add D1 to whatever name they are using? Who plays then. -

I don't think you misunderstood. They had different players at different tournaments. -

You always get a blurry picture of everything from his part of the state. -
I agree that he knows when and where to pass/shoot he just doesn't do it all the time. If JBS is going to go far in the 14th he is going to have to play team ball.

Owsley's Neeley transfers.
In My Opinion replied to The Professor's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I don't know the story, but last year there were always posters on here knocking Neeley and bragging on another player who just got eligible. I never heard anyone say why. I thought Neeley was a great player. Sorry to hear he is moving but I would say the people in Owen Co. are happy. -
There is a drop off from the basketball courts floor of about 2 to 3 inches to the walk way around them. Very dangerous I thought. If a player stumbled off they could sprain or break an ankle or some other injury. The building is no where near as nice as the other facility.

I remember the game you are talking about. I believe it was a 1 point game. EKL got a last second shot off and it went in and back out.I always wondered why a State championship game would be played in that old gym with the bad floors when they have such a nice facility close by. I guess they are home for you.
-
Yes EKL did come in 5th in the YBOA tournament in Orlando . They played 15U. Sorry for up setting you. There were some very good teams in the 15U.
-
There are 2 Knott Co. boys from JBS who play for East Kentucky Lighting AAU team. They came in 5th in the Nationals in June [15U] One of them made the all tournament team at nationals

How did the Patriots do in the tournament? What age group did they play in? 14U?
