Owsley's Neeley transfers.

Featured Replies

Bad news for Owsley County fans. Daniel Neeley, the Owls' starting point guard for the last 3 years, is transferring to Owen County. Daniel would have been one of the best guards in the 14th region this year imo.

He won't be changing school colors though. Owen is maroon and white, just like Owsley.

Really liked to watch this kid play...Owen Co. is getting a good one. Best of luck to him this season.

Can't blame him under the circumstances. Best of luck to him.

Did his family move?

What circumstances are you talking about:confused:

It is my understanding he wanted to be closer to some of his family in Owen County; but if you haven't heard that I may have bad info.

Tough for a new coach to come in and lose his Sr. point guard. Neeley is a great kid and very good player, good luck in Owen Co.:thumb:

I havn't heard why he left. Perhaps what you heard is correct. He does have an uncle that lives in Owen County. He lived with him before moving to Owsley County his freshman school year. Maybe he missed that area more than he thought he would. I hate to see him leave, though. I was looking forward to watching him play this season.

He's a very athletic, intelligent, and well-mannered young man. I hope he's happy, and does well in his last year of high school.

This is real blow to Owls. I had heard some talk this might happen week or so ago, but was just rumor at that time. Last year was rocky one for Daniel, sounds to me like he just really never got over it. Too bad, I sincerely believed he would be one of top players in 14th.

I don't know the story, but last year there were always posters on here knocking Neeley and bragging on another player who just got eligible. I never heard anyone say why. I thought Neeley was a great player. Sorry to hear he is moving but I would say the people in Owen Co. are happy.

Anyone heard if he is eligible to play at Owen Co??

I heard the other day that Daniel wasnt even going to play basketball at Owen County? Maybe burnt out on it.

I hope that's not true. I have watched him since he was a freshman, and have really admired his ability, even when he was putting it to Lee. If anyone from Owen County is reading, this kid is GOOD, and needs to be encouraged.

If he doesn't get involved in sports, I can see bad things happening. He is a good kid, but when kids have too much time on their hands they tend to get into a lot of trouble. New area, trying to prove your coolness to others, etc..I hope not for Daniel's sake.
