  1. defense is doing good.......Blocked kick put ball on 5...held on 2 plays
  2. JH fumbles....announcers ? call.....refs say JH player was down...JH ball 3rd and goal
  3. Out of the 8 teams left in 4A, Here is how BC and T stack up. Points per game BC 8th w/ 26 ppg T 2nd w/43 ppg Total Offense per game (yards) BC 8th w/315 T 3rd w/407 Total Defense per game (yards) BC 3rd w/251.3 T 6th w/262.6 Pass Defense (yards) BC 7th w/136.8 T 3rd w/101.6 Run Defense (yards)BC 3rd w/ 114.5 T 5th w/ 161.5 This game is a nightmare match-up for BC. Their 7th (out of 8) ranked pass defense is going to have to stop T's 2nd ranked scoring offense which is also ranked 2nd in the pass attack. If BC gets down early and has to resort to passing themselves....it gets even uglier. BC has the 8th ranked pass offense and T has the 3rd ranked pass defense. Playing at Marshall stadium doesn't help BC's cause either. T wins another easy one by at least 3 TD's. BC is a good team, they just don't match-up well against the Rocks.
  4. JH will not come close to scoring 49 points on X...... X will not put 9 men in the box and give up the big play.
  5. There are not many private school players on the all-state teams either. It's Football tradition for X and T or these schools would dominate every sport if all the unfair excuses were true....and they do not dominate....When was the last time X or T even made it to the Basketball State Champ.....Baseball?
  6. I am not for cutting down the teams. Take Manual as my prime example. They were the 3rd seed from their district...behind X and Male. They are still ranked in this week's updated CJ LIT ratings as the 8th best football team in the state. They beat #2 seed Meade County in the first round of the playoffs. They, with a doubt, belonged in the playoffs. The change that I would make would be to separate each district's 4 teams among the 4 regions, instead of putting them in just two regions. I wonder where Manual would sit in that scenario. They would get to play someone that they haven't played before...most likely.
  7. Gridmaniac Quote "I don't believe for one minute that the kids at some of the best private/open enrollment sports schools are going there for a better education as the first priority!" I did and when deciding where my kids where going to attend high school...I did a little research on the internet and found that KY public high schools were ranked 37th! Jefferson County schools scores were lower than the State average. Graduation rates and % of those who went on to college were much lower than the privates. I'm not saying that kids do not or can not be successful at a public school...or can not or will not graduate...I am just quoting facts about averages....I want to stack all the odds I can stack in my kids favor. Academics are the tools needed to make kids excel in life not sports. The odds are very very slim that your kid will make a career out of sports.
  8. Football is like no other sport..it takes the team to all work together for the play to work. In basketball and baseball it's more individual....a homerun requires no teamwork...not all jumpshots do either. But almost every touchdown does. There's something special about seeing 11 kids working together for a common goal. Brotherhood is what makes X's system so special. Their program is very focused on the team and not the player. X does not put the players' names on their jerseys. They are not representing Smith or Jones or whoever...they are St. X...hence the cheer..."We are St.X" Players design their own "team" shirts. Players here pride themselves on working hard..they push each other in practices and do not accept "coasting" by fellow teammates. The coaches foster and encourage this Band of Brothers. The have taken a page from the military. They realize that extreme conditioning will instill extreme pride and an extreme loyality between players.
  9. might have to do some research on this to get a number...
  10. LSUROCK quote "And yes my friend, rumor has it that Jeff's infant son Brady works out at the Marshall Center five days a week. Just kidding but it won't be long before he is lighting it up in flag football. Another Double B, It has a certain ring doesn't it." Say it isn't so....That family is amazing....question...how many times has T beat X without a Brohm on the team? in the Brohm era (s)?...just curious..
  11. A little late on this thread...I can only speak of QBs that I have seen. I believe that comparing QB's by stats alone is very misleading for several reasons. 1. Is the team pass oriented, run oriented, or both? 2. How good are the WRs? 3. How good is the O-Line? (Couch w/ Browns) 4. Competition? 5. Is the Coach keeping the starting QB in the game, during blowouts, to pad stats? Stats have to be used, but not solely. That's why we have scouts. Burke is the best without question. He is in the same class as Brohm, and Couch. His accuracy is amazing. His throws are smart, on target and very crisp. Stats wise...his TD/INT ratio (56-4) is awesome esp. considering that he comes from a pass happy offense. Petrino (Trinity) is good and has good numbers from another pass happy attack. But he is not in the same class as Burke. If Burke had Petrino's O-Line this thread would not be necessary. It wasn't necessary during Brohm's era....Thank God for us Tigers that era is over....I hope there are no little Brohms on the way. Anderson (Male) doesn't have a bad TD/INT ratio either (24-4) He does have some out of this world receivers though. Beaumont and #22 could catch a piece of ice in a tornado. In the X game Anderson threw some very ugly passes that these receivers reeled in. He also has a good O-Line. Anderson's accuracy and crispness is no where near Burke's. Curley (X) Come on Andy...While I love the Tigers and this kid..he doesn't belong here. True... he is undefeated against all KY schools for the past 2 years, but he TD/INT ratio (8-8) excludes him from being in this forum. In his defense...most of X's passing comes from the sprint out...a much harder pass than the pocket pass. As for the rest mentioned here..I have not seen them play so I cannot make an informed opinion. Stats lie when held alone!
