The point of scheduling up-class teams and teams that are very good is to make your team better. Breathitt's program is a class program and is making its way back to the top of its class. Playing them can only make Harlan better, win or lose. And I'll maintain that the Dragons have a shot at home against this fine team. I guess I just don't understand folks who use verbs like "throttle" and "destroy" and such, when they know the kids read these posts. There are better mor "educated" ways to get your point across. Most folks on this board are respectful and I've not seen many I told ya so posts, but there are always some who write before they think.

Of course this is possible. Saturday will tell. By the way, you have such a pleasant way of putting things.

Senior/Junior dominated club. Playoff experience. 2-0 in a very competitive district. Cumberland very talented, probably has ability to challenge any team in our region. Anytime you step up a level, should be a huge challenge, however I'll be a homer and bet that the Dragons will give the Bobcats all they want.

:argue: When some other folks play Cumberland, they will see that Harlan has played good competition. I'm not saying Harlan can beat up on a good 2A school every night, but on a given night? Maybe. I'll be a homer and say: Harlan 20 Breathitt 14

Cumberland is for real, they are big and strong up front, and fast around end. This should be a dandy.

According to the construction schedule, the new Harlan County High School will be ready by fall 2008, so one more season for Evarts, Cawood, and Cumberland.

:fight: Well we may never know, but Harlan is there and S. Laurel isn't.

Looking forward to have a class program like the Bobcats come to Harlan next week to play. Should be an interesting game between 2 Mountain Top 10 teams.

Cumberland is for real. If they can keep their heads, and play well at Somerset next week, they will make some noise in the district.

Great game. Cumberland has some great athletes and had a good game plan. The Dragons kept believing, though and the Big Green D kept giving the O opportunities. Disapointing to me were the late hits and unsportsmanlike conduct on a certain Redskin, who doesn't need that behavior defining his accomplishments. I'm hopeful the coaching staff at Cumberland address this issue with him. One last comment. Would it kill ya up at Cumberland to deal with the sewage on the visitors sidelines? The only worse place to sit on the visitors side is Williamsburg. Sportsmanship shows off the field too.

:thumb: I thought The front 4 of Harlan's D line was consistent all night and didn't let Evarts capitalize on the sloppy O line play in the first half. O line responded to whatever "encouragement" and/or changes made at the half, though, and made some holes in the 2nd. Hats off to the offense, especially showing that we have other threats than Lundy, which just opens things up for him more. Chase Jones is doing a great job, making good decisions as QB. However, you have to keep the other guys from scoring, and Harlan's D has been awesome.

Anyone know Pike's status for Friday?

:thumb: Agree mostly, except I disagree that Evarts played their best game against Harlan last year. I for one was grateful we played Evarts early as the result could very well have been reversed had the game been late in the year, when Evarts was giving the likes of a talented Lynn Camp squad a run for their money over in Corbin. Our O line will surely be challenged, however I believe they will rise to the occasion, as well as our D-line with Jones, Howard, and co. who will bring it to the Evarts O line. You are right on, though, that if C. Jones and his WRs are clicking, could be the deciding factor. I'll go early and predict the Dragons 24-8.

Thing is this is actually Harlan Independent, who is not a Harlan County School. The Dragons will be around a long time. And actually Dragon fans really didn't know the quality or potential of this team up to this point. We are pleasantly surprised.

:thumb: I also thought our D-Line kept Olinger uncomfortable all night, chasing him right into our backers, keeping him from getting set. I also thought that rather than just being tired second half, the change in offensive sets took a little wind out of the Dragon's sails. Even though its the right move to just run and eat the clock, sometimes that can take away a little adrenaline from the players. Overall a great win. On to a sure fire war this friday at home against Evarts.

:argue: Couldn't have had anything to do with a great defensive and offensive effort by the Dragons, whom most folks thought would lose "big" tonight. Go Green. Go A-Train!!!!!!!

:irked: Why not ask the high school athletes around the State? Bet the vast majority would like to have better odds at the postseason. After all, its for them.

Any other year, I'd agree, however I believe the Dragons will eek it out with a more balanced attack. Their D line may have something to say about how effective the pass is. Should be a good one, I guess since I started this, I may as well bust a move and pick Harlan 22 Hazard 20

Whoever posted those comments needs to realize they are only hurting the team. Harlan may well play the Rax bowl next year with a boatload of sophomores and a few seasoned seniors. What goes around comes around, especially in a small town. What has been said can't be taken back, but one can learn from the mistake. We can all post our disagreements in a respectful way. Also you should never allow another person access to your password, you will prob. get dinged on that too. :irked:
