The announcement will be made tomorrow. It will be an asst. coach from the Lexington area! He has been around one very successful program and had a turn around at other. I won't give a name because I don't want to steal the thunder for tomorrow.

The guy they will hire will be a great fit for Harrison County. He will restore some tradition to that team.

Decision will be made today!! Interviews were this week and they are going to tell the applicants today of their choice.

Weinrich would be a great HC but I dont see him leaving Highlands. I know that he has several offers and has turned them down. I believe he will be named the HC at Highlands after the current HC retires.

I heard that they were putting interviews off for another week. I don't know when the decision was made to delay but that came to me about Thursday of last week.

Mark Carroll- East Jessamine DC- He use to be at LCA as the DC and helped led them to the state finals. He has worked/played under several good coaches. Coach Haywood at Belfry, Ron Finley at Cville University, Paul Rains-LCA and Mike Bowlin- East Jessamine. I am a little partial because he is a friend of mine but I feel that he is an up and coming coach!!

Dragon Fire, You heard wrong cuz he never applied for that job. 3 final candidates were considered for the WC job. Rogers, Stonebreaker, and a guy from Alabama.

I would have left as well if I was Coach Carroll. He was the DC and then the head coach brings in somebody else to "help" run the defense with you?? I think that Coach Rains made a mistake by making him a co-defensive coordinator and then eventually defensive coordinator after Coach Carroll left. Most coaches would have been offended or felt challenged if their HC wanted to add "co-coordinator" to your staff after you went to the state finals.

Limb?? I dont need a limb to be on cuz I am to big for that. I dont say better coach but better fit. Players felt more comfortable by the end of 2007 with what was going on and there was as much talent in 2008 but a lot more experience but no where near the same results!! Chemistry wasnt the same on the Defensive side of the ball!! I am not taking anything away from Ray, just giving credit where it is due to Mark Carroll!! If you go to the state championship, and lose a very close game then why go out looking for a new DC?? The LCA defense isnt the one that lost that game against Beechwood; it was special teams!!!

What changed from 2007 to 2008 season for LCA's defense?? They let their DC go!!!!! That is the biggest thing that I saw from the year. I would go get Coach Carroll back and see what he can do!!

They only have 6 coaches I think maybe 7 counting the head coach. That is Freshman, and Varsity combined. Laurel Co. does not allow any volunteers to help with sports after the basketball incident at North Laurel. Money aside the fact remains most schools in almost every state depend heavily on volunteer help. This hurts middle school, and high school programs alike.

I am not at liberty to put out the names of these individual men. They are all 3 great coaches and would make WC a great program again!!

That is what I hear as well DragonFire. I also know what the 3 names are that were submitted for approval!! 2 are from in state and one is from out of state!!

Its not only the fact they will not create positions for coaches, but when working with the positions that are available or becoming available they dont seem to work with a coach to get someone in there that can help a sport. You can find both a good teacher and a good coach, they can go hand in hand. What I see in Laurel Co. are a lot of 7:30 to 3:00 teachers that don't do anything to help the school out with extra curricular activities, and I am not just talking about just about sports. Young teachers should almost be expected if not required to coach or help in some other way. Mind you this is not the case in all situations, but something to be pondered.

Good thing about CSS and Alabama is that they have an agreement to show the games live, then keep replaying them over next month or so.
