Covington Catholic should be solid this year. Just a notch below Beechwood i would still say. They return starters: Josh Bleser, Andrew Blazejewski, AJ Schriever, Tim Tierney, Connor Larkin, Michael Stevens, and Chris Farrell.

The reason they didnt is becasue they never had the chance with GREAT seniors in front of them.... Like Eric Quinn at 3rd batting over .400 with 7 homers Randy Myers in Left batted around.340 with 5 homers Eric Severson in right pitching and playin first who batted .519 with 9 homers Rob Quast batted .400 with 2 homerruns (one being a walk off in Regional Finals) Tanner Browning best 9 hitter maybe in the state That is why they didn't make noise.....also they won JV Region last year i think that is some good noise

CCH also in that game that went into 9 innings lost there master and commander behind the plate -- who is also a Jr. this year a exeptional athlete Connor Larkin. He was takin out of the game for a concusion and the back up Frommeyer struggled catching Severson. Mace pitched the 2 close games Humphrey didnt. And CCH beat them again at CCH and lost by 1 at Ryle I'll take Bleser With all this talk Bleser had company last year like i said with Larkin, but watch out for Shane Popham, Matthew Reis and Kyle Houlehan to make a coming out show this year for the Colonels.

CCH plays Boyd County, Henry Clay, Apollo, McNich, and Hamilton Badin every year, along with St. X also. So Josh wasn't also put in these preasure situation when he pitched againist Beechwood in the Regional Finals againist the best pitcher in the Region. Also CCH won Region both in JV and Varsity last season. If you don't live on last seasons you go back to 2 seasons ago. I believe that your role players would already be makin noise last season so last season would be a more defining year. Josh was the #1 pitcher if im not correct i believe that Mace was Ryles last season. So Josh was the #1 pitcher on the #1 team in the region that makes him the best Jr. pitcher in NKY.

what i mean is cch5432 claims alot of the cheers this year were started by juniors but i think while some cheers may mave been the majority were lead by the seniors j/ like every year

Josh was 8-1 last year beating teams like Beechwood twice and a Hamilton Badin team who went to there state finals. His only lose was in the first round of the Semi Finals. Also Josh is also in his 3rd year of Varsity baseball. Now he didnt pitch is Freshman year but obviously either did Humphrey if Josh's record in one year is almost better with probably more impressive wins. Also i don't think that any game that Humphrey pitch was a 7th inning regional championship game that was decided off a walk off homer.

I think the colonels will always have a great cheering section but i will disagree with you about ALOT of the cheers being started by the juniors. This senior class did an awesome job. Heck this class brought in 2 of the best cheers (the rollarcoaster, and boxing) it will be hard to top that. These seniors seemed to be great leaders and i think they did a wonderful job leading the section this year. The Juniors have some big shoes to fill next year but good luck and i hope to see some good creativity

Last year i believe that Josh only lost 1 or 2 games and pitched in the Regional Finals, as a Sophmore and he also had an RBI in that game. He is the best all around player in the 9th region.

I would say that Josh isn't just up there. I believe that Josh is the best Junior pitcher if not best player as a junior in the region. CCH also has some other good one- Larkin has experience on the varsity level and very athletic making the move from C to 2nd base......also the JV team won the Region last year so we will see some good and suprising juniors from CCH this year.

The boxing cheer was remarkable! But for everyone in Rupp Areana to do the wave just cause high schoolers told them to is even more remarkable. The wave by far was the best thing they did.

The Guys who accepted the award i believe were Alex Ratliff and Griffin Wurtz (the Boxer and his trainer), Zach Spradlin (Roller Coaster Driver), Andrew Blazejewski (President of Spirit Club), and Michael "LOGG" Stephens (Publicizes Basketball events throughout school). I think it is awesome that the state recognized how awesome the student section was and acknowledged them. I also think it would be cool if the colonels had boxing gloves around the trophy when they put it in the trophy case just like puttin the shoe on the trophy 2 years ago

Ill disagree with you. The 04 Student Section was very good but i believe that this section is better. I do think they should bring the themes back, but i also know that Coach L said he loves the Sea of Blue plus The colonels have not lost while riding the Sea of Blue. Call it superstition but i wouldnt want to make a change now. Maybe the rollar coaster isnt riding very well because it's driver is not being creative enough:laugh: lol im just playing But i do know that the colonels WILL be pulling out some stuff that nobody has ever seen before and i cant wait to see how that will go over. Hoping that the wave will go around Rupp

Im loving all these fans who have most likely never seen CovCath play and still are talkin about how they will not make it anywhere. They have been playing really well as of late and they have been playing team ball.

I dont know what kind of breakdown this is but i saw a film on Apollo today vs. Owensboro Cath. from the district game. I saw most of the 3rd quarter and the 4th quarter. There was not very much scoring at all. The Eagles love the pump fake from how it looks but it looked like very sloppy offensive basketball. Defensively though they play a very good zone defense. I for one would be suprised if CovCath didnt win

Lets not argue about who is good and who is not,.... All these teams worked their butts off to make it to the Sweet Sixteen, lets not take anything away from that. I believe the thread was who are yur top 16/17 now..............

Cov Cath also had one of the hardest roads to win the region (Holy Cross, Holmes, Highlands, NewCath) but they did that didnt they?? I think the reason ill take CovCath is because they are peaking at the right time. They arent depending on one certain player like earlier in the year. They are playing as a team and i think their TEAM will win state. I also am looking foreward to seeing those colonel crazies as much as i can. :ylsuper:

Besides Muth and Curley, who does Beechwood have that are good hitters? All I can think of are the Seniors who graduated last year.

Glory Road was very good,.... another good one but not serious is the 6th man. For a serious movie Pistol Pete is good,... but i feel u can never go wrong with Hoosiers

Also wasn't Rice still on the team when they beat Dixie. I know one player doenst make a team. But you have to look at Holmes since they lost him. They lost to NCC, Boone County, and CCH. I think anyone who is playing Holmes right now has a shot.
