  1. As does BG...more than people think. The 6'6 twins, D.L. Moore (WR) and Ryan Wallace (TE) will present problems when complimented by Jarred Carpenter (RB/SS). Wallace already has offers from Oklahoma Sate, Ole Miss, and Cincinnati who has also offered Moore. WKU has offered Moore and Carpenter. It is quite likely that Wallace will be the biggest recruit out of BG since Rob Reynolds, who is now with the Titans...but, we heard about all the college studs last year as well, so we'll just have to wait and see. I still think they're in a class with Highlands and Cov. Cath though. JMO
  2. I would have a hard time calling BGHS a lump 'em in with everyone else kind of squad. While they must still prove they can win on the carpet, they have been every bit as good as Highlands over the past two years, and probably return the same kind of team. My adjustment would be: 1) CCH 2) Highlands 3) BG 4) - 10) Take your pick.
  3. I would venture to say they will most likely drop their opener, and do fine for the remainder of the season. They open with BG.
  4. No doubt NB will be good, but come on...They have won how many playoff games in the last 10 years? Who else is in 4A? Boyle Co., Lex. Cath, Rockcastle. NB will raise some eyebrows, but we'll see what happens when the weather turns cold.
  5. From BGHS: The Reynolds - Robert is currently in the NFL with the Titans and won a national championship at Ohio State. His brother Patrick was an All-American at WKU And won a national championship in the same year. The Beards - Cousins of the Reynolds, Monie and his brother Ralph were actually graduates of Male. Ralph was a key member of Rupp's greatest run at UK. Monie's sons Roy and Doug were both great athletes at BGHS. Roy's sons, Chuck, Drew and Austin were and are all fine players with Chuck and Drew having played at Centre and Austin is a Sr. at BG. Doug's son Ryan just finished at BG and signed a scholarship at WKU after finishing as an All-State DB.
  6. Coach Whitaker has left Western KY to head back East to Powell Co. leaving a nice job open in KY. http://www.kentuckynewera.com/articles/2007/02/23/sports/paid/sports02.txt
  7. If you are a Ryle fan, why do you care about a BGP Poll that seems to "snub" you? They can call your path to state a joke. they can tell you that X, and Male, and Henry Clay would have beaten you. Heck, they can rank you 25th. Buth the fact remains; other than Trinity fans, all other 4A teams and fans had a less successfull season.
  8. Is that a big "T" in Highland's stands? IF so, why?
  9. 1) Mayfield - That is, if you want rings. 2) BGHS - Great current coaches, Great history, Great job, great facilities, great mix of kids and great administration. 3) Hop-town - Always in the mix when the playoffs arrive, get to coach some very special kids. Sometimes they're a little on the old side, but, eh, that's water under the bridge isn't it? 4) Warren Central - Will be a great job for two or three more years, but when the new Warren Co. School is opened in 09, it will struggle. 5) PT - Until the new alignment, it didn't belong in the top five, but with only Louisville Central standing in the way of a trip to the box, its stock has soared. Others of note: 6) Franklin Simpson - The have an indoor practice facility for Pete’s sake. The new alignment will be very beneficial. 7) Christian Co. - Would be higher, but Warren Central stole their cake and ate it as well. 8) Owensboro Catholic - Great facilities, have shown that no matter what, they'll be in the hunt when the weather turns cold. 9) Owensboro - History gets them on this list, as does their new field, but enough is enough, either they need to win some trophies, or they, like Tilghman do not belong. The new Alignment makes for a hard half of the state for them. 10) Hendo - Everyone talks about what a great job this is, but, like Owensboro, they do not seem to be able to produce when it counts. Does it seem weird that NOBODY seems to be able to get this place over the hump? Honorable Mention - Apollo - Good kids, good facilities, big town to draw from. - Marshall Co. - Has potential, but not enough to compete with the big boys on game night. - Russellville - The sleeper, this could be a top five, but it is always a roll of the dice what kind of kids you will have. - Warren East - I know, I'm a homer, but you watch, time will tell this tale. They did manage to score 504 points in 12 games last year...and return all their skill players. - Ft. Campbell / Trigg Co. - Two good solid programs with good histories that plague each other like a cancer. Both, like Russellville, with the right run of kids, are top 10 programs.
  10. Crazy numbers, maybe, but all those numbers have equaled 0 playoff wins in the past six years. Gotta be able to produce when it counts.
  11. Franklin took some lumps last year, but will be one of the favorites, in my opinion, in the new Class 4A Region 1. They return a super star of a young man in Courtney Dalcourt (Jr.) at QB and quite a complement standing next to him at RB in Flippin (Soph.) Both are reminiscent of the late 70's, early 80's and mid 90's style of players that made Franklin a State Title contender. They must find some linemen, though so must everyone else that they have to beat. Word is that their incoming Fr. are something special, and after witnessing Flippin last year as a Fr., that means something. Look for the 'Cats to get back to winning the majority of their games thanks to a motivated off-season, considerable returning experience, and a more manageable schedule.
  12. What system do they run on offense? Is it that one back trips stuff that Kimbell did at McLean?
  13. Not trying to stir the pot here, but what exactly is so great about playing at PJS? Every game, save the 4A game on some years, is played in front of what basically feels like an empty stadium. WKU, by 2009, will provide a facility every bit as nice in terms of amenities, as well as a much more scaled down seating capacity, thus giving the more "full" crowd feeling to the games. Look at Div. I-AA and its decision to do the same thing by playing at Chattanooga rather than opting for a more grandiose stadium such as the Georgia Dome or so forth. Just my two cents.
  14. Allen took leaps and bounds under coach Hood who seems to really know how to make kids believe in what he is selling. He came into games this year with solid game plans and did a nice job of handling his first year as the HC. Allen will need another year to catch up with East, just because of athleticism, and Franklin Simpsion will always be Franklin. But there is no doubt in my mind that Coach Hood can direct his team to a 2nd place finish in the district if either East or FS takes them lightly. Allen is headed in the right direction, it's just a matter of will the administration allow Coach Hood to make that place into a consistant winner.
  15. Wow:eek: How good will Christian be? I mean, I know they always put a good product on the field, but with Tandy gone and that schedule, a sub-par team could be staring at 4-6 if the breaks go against them. I'll say they'll be ready for the playoffs after that schedule.
  16. Let me start by saying this, I saw Ammons on film and the kid is a very special player. I think that he has his place at the next level and certainly has the abilities to make it. That being said, does it seem odd to all of you who call all the area colleges crazy that they all seem to be in consensus with one-another in not offering? I mean, if Georgetown or such had offered and everyone else was turning up their noses, I would understand, but people, NO ONE is offering, which means they're seeing something that seems to run true for the desired transition to the college game.
  17. Dan Haley Finals 1969 Bryan Station 1973 Paducah Tilghman 1980 Paducah Tilghman 1994 Bowling Green 1995 Bowling Green Is as great a man as he was a coach. When you messed up, he didn't cuss you, he just looked disapointed and you felt as though you'd let your own father down when it mattered most.
  18. Dan Haley - Appeared in the Title game in four different decades with three different schools. Among the top 10 in all time wins.
  19. Warren East will have a few kids who can run a little...Franklin Simpson will as well.
  20. The kid is a blur on the field. Made an athletic Warren East team look like we had concrete in our shoes.
  21. That mission ended in 1995 with a State Championship over the Bluebirds who consequently put you all out that year. The first post gave you all 14 points, thus not less than 14. The second post simply said you would not break 28 points. That doesn't mean you'll score 27, just that I don't think you'll break 28, hence 14 is less than 28. Being that BG's kicker has already been All-State as well as being offered a D1-AA scholarship, I'll go out on a limb here and say that BG will be "ok" in their kicking game. On a final note, I notice that you are awfully bold about you prediction of BG's medioricty, but seem hesitant to predict a score.
  22. BG will be fine. Cov. Cath won't break 28 points. BG held St. X under 28 with basicly a M.A.S.H version of their defense and an offense that made them defend a short field more times than they would have liked. MArk it down, BG is a team on a mission. The last time BG was a real team on a mission was 1995. Of course, it was Cov. Cath that put them on that mission.
  23. Anyone curiuos why BG has been ranked #1 in just about every poll this year, all year long? Cov. Cath is good, BG is good, both will be ready to play. BG however has 30 seniors who left the Pizza Box almost exactly a year ago with a very bad taste in their mouth. BG will play this game with a different swagger than they have all year long. Hibbit will be ready to redeam himself. Embaresment is a wonderful motivator. BG 24 Cov Cath. 14
