  1. Perhaps, next year, after East beefs up its schedule, they will resemble the 2005 Wildcats who beat a total of 3 teams with a winning record, as opposed to the 1 that East beat in 2005. In any case, they can congratulate themselves on "quality losses" that propel them into playoff shape as the better programs in the area do.
  2. A sore topic in Warren Co. Look for both to be possibly added next year.
  3. East plays BG, Franklin Simpson and Somerset; all three of which are top notch opponents. Monroe is hardly a pushover. Todd and M. North, I must admit are hardly barn burners, but I think anyone in the know, knows why Todd Co. is on East's schedule. The rest of their schedule is district, which they have no control over. The Monroe game will tell a lot about East. I agree with you, until they can even manage a score in the first half against their stiff competition, they can hardly be called contenders. Their schedule next year, which will be made by the new staff, will be significantly more challenging.
  4. I guess X can go and wrap that around thier finger then...
  5. The kid is good, but come on...D1? Take him for what he is, an excellent HIGH SCHOOL QB who would make a perfect fit at a place like Centre.
  6. Todd Co. lost 26 in a row from 2001 - 2003.
  7. Sounds like you're in trouble against anyone with a semblance of an O-line.
  8. Uh, not to sound snide here, but Tamme is a SEC player; that is very skilled. Bobby and Travis Laffew were big time D1 and Travis was an All American at the collegiate level. Smith signed D1AA with WKU as a QB. Not being a Boyle Co. buff, I'm a little short on names, but I know there are numerous others that have come out of there in the past 6 years. I'd say, not many schools have turned out more quality college talent than Boyle during that magical stretch.
  9. While Bolye certainly deserves credit for the most amazing run in KY football history, I think the reality of that run was that they had excellent coaching, but more importantly, they had a staggering number of very good "high school" football players, often complimented by two or three superstars. Boyle Co. beat you with the Tamme's, Overstreet's and Lefew's of the world, mixed sparingly in with a whole boat load of 5'11 - 6'1, 185 - 210lb kids who played like animals. While they will be a force to be reckoned with, don't hedge your bets towards seeing anything remotely close to what we saw during that era of dominance.
  10. Bowling Green: Week 1 - St. X Week 2 - Christian Co. Week 3 - Warren Central
  11. After seeing what the guy brings to the table, you almost have to wonder if he really knows what he's getting into...North has kids, and they enjoy sports there, just not football. Coach Sparks probably has more to do with this guy's possibility of winning than anything.
  12. Harris was a great player for U of L. He started from the day he stepped foot on campus. He played the game and carried himself, with class. He is an excellent young man.
  13. Warren East...I a homer for their head coach.
  14. It's funny really, it seems every December when I go up to Louisville, the stands are filled with teams that are better than those on the field.
  15. The second best team in 3A lost in the state title game. You can't apoint a team that can't get out of the region 2nd best in the state. That's a really poor statement. As for Basketball vs. God's game, in football, to win a state title it takes nearly 22 - 30 good quality players with 1 or 2 superstars. Very few public schools have this makeup, and those that do, come along once in a blue moon. The privates are stacked this way year in and year out and thus the odds are heavily in their favor due to frequency of makeup. To win a state title in basketball, you just need 2-3 superstars and 6 or so supporting cast members. Plenty of public schools have this makeup and the sheer numbers of public vs. private schools puts the odds heavily in public's favor.
  16. Congrats to Mr. Phillips. He is a fine young man who gets it done in the classroom and on the field. Josh will be an asset to any team and he has many great things ahead of him, both in football and life. :thumb:
  17. Sounds like a good resume, but is he ready to bring them to "dynasty" status. Quite the expectation statement on the job posting from a school that is 7-43 over the past 5 years and has not seen the bright side of 3 wins since 2000. Sounds like the administration has some interesting ideas about where their program should be.
  18. When you lose half your offense in one player, yeah, you did pretty much lose your whole team.
  19. Small school kids don't get as many scholarships because they are normally smaller kids who a town falls in love with because they make plays, win District and Regional titles and put up big numbers against other kids just like them, but this still doesn't mean they're bigger than 5'10 or weigh more than 215 and run anything over a 4.8 "true" 40. Tim Couch was from a small school in a small community, Dennis Johnson was from a small school, Micah Jones was from a small school; if you can play, and a coach sends a tape out, someone will find them. Exposure is over-rated.
  20. That's interesting considering this is the first Lex. Cath. team to ever get out of the Region.
