I would imagine unless the weather gets horrible the game is on. A little rain and cold never hurt anyone. And the clouds actually look to be getting lighter so maybe things will get a little better.

I dont think either of the McDavids are going to participate. I may be wrong, but Im pretty sure. Rusty Craft a new player this year will most likely run one offense while Mahan runs the other.

I know at 75% of their maxes at Ashland they do 5 sets of 5. 65% 6 of 5 75% 5 of 5 80% 5 of 4 85% 5 of 3 90% 3 of 3 95% 3 of 1 That gets up there when you have some big numbers on your maxes.

At Ashland these classes are offered to not only Football Players, but Basketball, Baseball players, Wrestlers, and cheer leaders, and for anyone else who is interested in taking their strenght to a new level. There are Weight Lifting classes after school as well, and you have that choice to go then. And for the guys and girls that need that extra period of the day for educational purposes then it is supported 100% by the Coaching staff, School comes first. But how is this any different than a PE class? Or a shop class? This is simply a class for kids who want to lift. If you like to cook, take Culinary skills.

I dont know there names. Ive only talked ton one, once, and just met the other. BUt you know an athlete when you see one and these guys are athletes.

Defensive End is exactly how Coach Hart described him to me. And I have also heard about his skills on the Basketball Court. But I agree with you on where his skills and contributions will be put to better use!

I know Michael Walters VERY, VERY WELL Ive seen some 500 squats in my day as well, and I know Michael had it as a sophomore. But I know for a FACT that he did squat 600 lbs and I know that the other numbers listed above from Ashland are true as well. I also know for a fact ( Ive been to the maxes and the workouts and seen this with my own two eyes) squats are to be done with your hamstrings parallel to the floor, and if you do not get a "up call" from a Varsity coach then that max does not count. These numbers are true, Ashland's workouts are very intense and produce some very nice numbers, As far as the state Championships go, this weight program has only been in place under Coach Hart, which has been three years. Ashland is building, the guys coming up will be stronger than the ones there now. The State Championships will come.

What school is this for?

This class of seniors has been talked about for a long while. And I think its starting to sink in that the last couple of years, despite good years, have come up short in the goals that have been set. So hopefully this group of Seniors wont have to look back and be disappointed in their performances.

You keep bringing up past things... who cares. Ashland has 11 or so State Championships, that doesnt get us any new ones. I think this will continue to be a ver competitive Region and not just one District. The Region is up for grabs, Rock, Ashland, Bell, Johnsone Central, Mason, Lawrence, Southern, any one of those teams could be crowned champion.

I disagree. Ashland played one of there worst games against Rock. Not saying Ashland should have won, but had they played up to par the game WOULD have been different. And I dont know if you have seen the film of the Rock/Bell game from the regular season but Bell's last Touchdown was extremely controversial. And I personally dont think it was good. And Rock didnt play their top game that night either. But as a Ashland fan, I would have much rather played Bell County instead of Rock to get to Region Championship. Ashland was capable of beating both teams, but in high school football you play better on some nights. Ask Johnson Central, I bet they will agree with me when I say that Ashland played MUCH better against them than what they played against Rock.

I agree that the Ashland/Russell game could go either way in any given year. And Im pulling for the Tomcats like every year just like you and your Devils. Should be a great game. And Belfry will be a very physical and hard game but it is at Putnam and Im saying the Tomcats come out on top.

The Tomcats biggest question is at the Quarterback position. Mahan showed some signs of a good athletE at the JV level, but Iam Holbrook would be a huge loss on any team. Not only will Holbrooks athletisism be hard to replace but his love for the game, leadership, work ethic and game smarts. I think its Mahan's to loose. But Senior Drew McDavid could be getting the snaps as well. Look for the Tomcats to run a little more this year, returning three offensive linemen and two stout runningbacks in Thomas and Davis. The District will be tough. I think they could go undefeated in non district games, but have some trouble in the District. Johnson Central and Mason County will be two very hard games. But the Tomcats are still probably District favorites.

Good Good. It was an awesome game, highschool football doesnt get much better than that. But Im sure the excitment is far from over, somthing tells me that everytime these two teams step on the field you better be ready for a grudge match. A great rivalry in the making, and great rivalrys always make good games!

No dis-respect was meant JC20. Matney and Company is a top class program. Just like every team they had the football bounce in the wrong direction against them. Nothing to be ashamed of at all. But for a Tomcat team that was struggling in my opinion still, from a tough loss to Ironton, Johnson Central was one of the Biggest wins for the Tomcats of the season. It got them on track for two games anyway.
