  1. I don’t disagree. We are in February now, you can keep working on your man defense in practice. At this point though you also now need to say we at least have to try to mix something else in when things clearly aren’t working. No reason not to try at least some zone now to make teams at least have to do something different.
  2. I mean considering this is Brooks 5th year playing in college, it’s not surprising he is having his best year now.
  3. Defense once again not good, and the biggest things in these losses is this team has just got completely beat physically. that's the been the story so far, teams that have played physical have given this team issues.
  4. Honestly I would take those shooting percentages from the opposing team every game. The big thing was all the fouls and 22 free throws that Vandy made for why they scored so much. Still a lot to work on though.
  5. Defense was again was no where to be found. People won’t get any argument from me in regards to complaining about Cal not making adjustments on defense. At this point there is no reason not to at least try a few different things like a zone to see if that helps at all.
  6. I think Sheppard would be fine with it, but yeah Dillingham probably would be all over the place lol
  7. Agreed. It’s not a coincidence the Cats are 0 and 2 when he has been out.
  8. Well that sucked. The Cats are now 0 and 2 on the season when Sheppard has started and both of those losses were at home. Sheppard has had great numbers in those games, but unfortunately they have lost them both. Which Sheppard is probably the smartest player on the team, but this is now two games where he has had completely boneheaded plays at the end of the game. The first was fouling a three point shooter when up four at the end of a game. Then today completely losing track of his guy and stepping inside when the team was up 3. For my zone guys on here, I do agree Cal at this point needs to at least start trying to mix in some zone. We are now about to hit February and even with having a shot blocker down low, the defense still keeps getting lit up. So at this point need to at least try something new and mix in some zone.
  9. I agree I think we see the offense get back to playing well tonight.
  10. Off topic but the upset’s in the top 10 keep happening this year. North Carolina lost on the road to a team below 500 last night, and Tennessee lost at home to South Carolina. With wins now over UK and Tennessee I think South Carolina will soon be ranked.
  11. Glad to hear they are able to do freshman only now, that’s important for a big school like them to consistently field full freshman teams. I know they were a Froshmore team for a few years even before the new staff. So that’s good that their numbers are starting to be consistently up now.
  12. Agreed. I think we have reached the part of the season now where the guys that are producing and playing defense will be the guys playing. He definitely made that statement yesterday. He may still give more guys minutes in the first half to see how they are playing, but come second half he is going to roll with the guys doing what he wants.
  13. Have they shown their uniforms yet? I think it would look sharp to something similar to what the New England throw back uniforms look like. Would go perfect with that helmet.
  14. Which are those things you mentioned are all things many schools were dealing with long before Boone started to have to deal with it after Ryle and Cooper were built. Yet other schools have been able to survive it and also some have even found ways to be successful with it. Yet many comments seem to suggest it is hopeless. Which the kids hear all these things, as many of these things are said by people on here but also social media sites like football groups on Facebook, etc. All people are doing though are giving them players excuses for why they can’t be successful, which is the last thing they need to hear.
  15. Zip code as you say definitely matters in regards to if a job may be more challenging to be successful than other jobs, that is true. Zip code does not mean it is impossible though. As schools with similar and even harder circumstances have found success in the classroom and playing field. People are wrong if they don’t think the job is harder. People are also wrong though if they think it’s impossible. Which stating those reasons and allowing those students/players to use that as excuses to not be successful is the last thing they need to hear in those circumstances.
  16. How not? How is there situation different than other schools with similar and even more students that have free and reduced lunch? What makes them so hopeless compared to those schools? The only ones that I have really seen act like or say it is a hopeless situation is probably people that have usually been on the other side of things growing up in successful programs, so when they see this they think it must be hopeless. I’m just trying to figure out why some truly seem to act like this is the worst situation in the state or something with some of the comments people have said. As I have stated numerous times, yes it definitely will have more challenges than other schools that don’t have as many low income students. However, it’s not as impossible as some keep trying to say. In fact making these excuses as I keep saying, is the last thing that these kids needs to hear and does not help them.
  17. I'm literally asking here, can you give me examples of which county schools in a closed district literally would send kids to other schools in their district that are further away from the school closest to them? So you’re saying there are other counties out there that would send a kid say that lives next to Ryle, but make them go to Boone. While a kid lives next to Boone and make them go to Ryle just so to make it more equal in regards to free and reduced lunch? You also keep acting like these free and reduced students are helpless and can’t succeed in classroom or playing field and that is simply not true. I can say that because I have done both taught and coached at schools are are a lot worse off to financially than Boone, and seen they can be successful. Yet some of you act like it is this hopeless situation. As I have said before one of the worst things people can do in these situations is to give these players, students, etc excuses for why they can’t be successful. Which is what some of you seem to want to do.
  18. Thank you for sharing. Which as you notice I even said I could be wrong on that, but it is weird that all other sites shows something different. Especially the Ky school report card which shows all that too and looks at all that data. So thanks for sharing that!
  19. You keep talking about tax payers paying the same rate. Once again though you ignore about how and why should it be any different than any other school in the state. People know exactly what school area they are in when they buy a house. So while yes they are paying the same rate, they also know exactly what school their house or apartment area is in when they make that choice. Which is the exactly the same as every school in the state, about students going to schools closest to where they live usually. Which gets back to the only realistic thing a district can do to make it more fair so their “tax dollars” they pay allow them to go to other schools is to make it open enrollment. Which I think most people acknowledge that probably wouldn’t help Boone at all. So the district keeping it closed, actually probably helps Boone more than hurts.
  20. That was ugly. Defense was bad, and just overall SC just took it to our Cats and used their physicality. Our freshman played like freshman tonight and couldn’t handle how physical SC was. With that said South Carolina always seems to give our better teams good games when we have to play there. So use this as a learning tool and get better. This is not the last time they will see a physical team, so learn from it and grow.
