This may be a silly question, but what is the reasoning behind bringing in officials that have not called any of your games all year?

Les. South’s pressure was a non-factor for the Redhounds tonight. I read in another post that you had a copy of the Corbin and Bell County game. Do you have a copy of this one? Could you verify if there were six players on the floor for South Laurel.

Would they have been assessed a technical if the referees would have caught it? Who's responsibility is it to check the number of players on the court for each team?

I have watched Corbin play a bunch the previous two years. I have only watched a hand full of games this season. I was very impressed with their play. Coach Pietrowski and his staff have done an excellent job. Corbin should keep their heads up, they have a very bright future. I am only showing up to post some interesting information. South had six players on the floor at the end of regulation.

Who determines the rankings? I understand that it is WYMT, but who determines what teams are ranked and the position that they receive? I was told that Slusher would be staying at Bell.

I do not know if I would use the word "refused". I am just making the point that teams that are in the tournament from time to time seem to show up in the mountain top ten.

Until the Redhounds agree to play in the Mountain basketball classic they will not get much credit from WYMT. I feel that the Hounds could make a case for spots 3-10.

This score doesn't really suprise me. The most that Whitley has lost by, other than South Laurel, is 17 points. Corbin can't expect to beat them by 50 ever time that they play them. Good win Hounds. Keep it up. Again, I will take a 21 point win each and every time.

Who is going to play in the district tournament? Do they seed?

Big win for the Tigers. Who is going to be the number 1 seed in this district? What was the outcome of the Lynn Camp vs. Pineville game?

I can only hope that Corbin continues to win by "only 21" the remainder of the season.

Anyone know how the South Carolina teams have done up to this point in the season? Do they have a class system in their state?

I am very impressed with Corbin’s sophomore and freshman Class as a whole. Josh Crawford is the best all a round player, but Josh Smith, Isaac Wilson, Aaron Manns, and Madison Johnson are very talented in their own right. I think that when you look at overall talent that Corbin has to be consider one of the best.

If Coach Pietrowski did set the brackets, then I applaud him playing an opponent like Shelby Valley in the first round. I agree with Bubba that he’s always played a difficult schedule. Last year’s Cumberland Falls was no different, Corbin opened with one of the best teams in tournament. These types of games will only make the team better. Dogman, you seem to know it all when it comes to the Cumberland Falls. What nights will the three point contest and dunk contest be held this year?

I’m excited about the first round game between Corbin and Shelby Valley. Shelby Valley will arrive at 8-0 and ranked 4th in the Mountain Top Ten. Looks like the Redhounds continue to receive one of the toughest draws in the tournament?

I would like to commend the effort of both teams; they laid it on the line and showed why they are top teams in the 13th region. I think that a few of our users in this thread have forgotten that Josh Crawford is only a freshman, and have put some undo expectations on the kid. He played an outstanding game and exhibited skills that most his age don’t contain. I was impressed with the play of Hamlin, Tate, and Cashen tonight. They played well in a pressure packed game. This was the second time I have seen Jones play and he continues to impress. He was the difference maker for the Tigers all night. All in all I think that Corbin had a very solid game plan and seemed to execute it most of the night. They had a very good shot with under a minute to play that could have given them the lead. Most people felt that Clay would walk over the Redhounds tonight, and that wasn’t the case. I have to disagree with you Les. If you take the top three players off of any team, especially in southeastern Kentucky, they will lose a lot, South Laurel included. I would like to thank the Redhounds for their valiant effort in this game, and commend them on their season. Keep your heads up and work hard in the off-season.:thumb:

District Champs People amaze when they use officials as an excuse for losing to Corbin. No matter if its boys or girls they look to the officiating as an excuse. Of late, I wonder if the refs themselves don’t pay to much attention to this board and the comments made by some of the users. I haven’t seen a game where I felt Corbin got any breaks this year. The officials showed no bias in the outcome of this game. The lady Redhounds were the better team tonight. Congrats to Coach Parsons, her staff, and the lady Redhounds. I love the way that you girls share the ball. You have made us proud. Stay focused and get ready for that battle against Clay County.:thumb:

It was a very impressive performance by South Laurel tonight in the finals. They are an extremely good team, and if they play at the same level over the next three games, they will easily win the 13th Region. I was equally impressed with the effort that Corbin showed tonight. South had a chance to really blow this game out, but Corbin showed their pride and tradition and wouldn’t go away. If South is allowed to play the physical style that they did tonight most teams in the 13th will have trouble competing with them. I also enjoyed Coach P’s suspenders tonight. If only I could turn him into a Kentucky fan. Great effort by both teams tonight. I for one would love to see the rematch next week in the finals. 50th District Battle There are too many people looking for excuses to why South played bad tonight, instead of giving Corbin credit for the way that they played. There is a reason you miss shots, its called defense. There is a reason that South didn’t shoot so many lay-ups as in the first game, its called taking care of the ball and shot selection. I thought this was the best defensive game I have seen Corbin play this year. They were able to contain South’s guard’s for most of the night and did a descent job rebounding. Anyone have the total rebounds by both teams? Most people felt that this game would be over at halftime. Corbin weathered the early run by South and battled their way back into it. In my opinion, the three before half time should have counted which would have added even more fuel to Corbin’s fire. Not the reason that the lost, by any means, but had to mention it. The radio said that both Hamlin and Tate finished with zero points, which in my opinion has to be another positive for the Redhounds. Coach Pietrowski commented on the radio “that he was pleased because he didn’t think that his team did everything perfect and they still were in the ballgame.” He added “If we would have made every shot, and played perfect on defense that this game would be discouraging, but he felt that there was still room for improvement” I think that the Redhounds can take a lot of good things away from this game, and if they can continue to get better, could have a legitimate chance to turn some heads come March. To make underhanded statements on this board should not be tolerated. I can agree to disagree, but when you take cheapshots you should be ashamed. Go and create some brainteasers! Try this one on for size; When the Redhounds are doing things right and showing signs of sucess who never shows up in a thread? When the Redhounds lose a tough game, who shows up to bad mouth the coaching staff and take cheap shots? I believe we all know the answer to this question. :thumb:

Great season Lynn Camp! I hate to see Chaffin injured in his last game. He had an excellent season. Be proud of all that you accomplished! Hats off to Coach Mitchell. :thumb:

Great effort by the Redhounds! Eric Blackwood was a difference maker all season. His ability to adjust to the ball is remarkable. He made several huge plays for the his team. He is a special player, and I hate to see his career end with an injury. Ryan Tate stepped up after Blackwood's injury last night to give the Redhounds a chance to win. He improved in every game. He was a great addition to the team. Lucas Henson also made some super plays. The pass he made on the TE reverse when it was 4th and 20 was special to say the least. (mathemagician you may want to think about that play, before berate Willard as "old School".) Redhound fans are very proud of this team and coaching staff. You could have hung your head early in the season, but instead you showed that Redhound Pride and turned the season around. I want to thank you for your hard work and dedication to the program. Stay focused and work hard in the off-season! :thumb:

The Redhounds have the play-off experience. I would look for Corbin to come out on top in this match-up. Their coaching staff has all the experience needed to put them in a position to win. With the added confidence I have seen from the team over the past few week, and the desire to put their early season woes behind them, they will play with the pride and tradition that corbin fans love to watch.
