Corbin 65 South Laurel 55

Corbin put together a great second half to steadily pull away. South was unable to overcome a difficult shooting night by Amber Neace.

Heather Clouse had 20 to lead the Hounds. She and Rogers did a great job penetrating and finishing. Jackson seemed to have her hand on every rebound down the stretch.

Congratulations to the Redhounds!

Heather Clouse was "in the zone" tonight for Corbin and she leads Corbin to the title over a very game South Laurel. Corbin just played 6 players tonight, but they all contributed in different ways. Great win in a very tough district!

Congratulation Lady Hounds your team did play a good game.I do feel like the referring was a bit one sided tonight. The referee Ashhurst had no business calling a district game when he lives in Corbin, because he has made it known that he does not like Coach Snyder.

I really think it was bad judgement on Coach Parsons not o pull her starters with a 10 pt. lead and let them get the standing ovation that they deserved for winning the district.

Good luck to all the teams in the region.

The officiating was in no way, shape or form one-sided. The referees did not cost SL the game. The inability to stop Clouse and shaky free throw shooting cost SL tonight.

As I recall South made it to the bonus well before Corbin in both halves. In the second half at one point Corbin had 10 fouls called against them to 4 for South Laurel. The fouls did not start to even out until the last 3 minutes of the game with Corbin trying to hold the ball and the referees finally started calling fouls on South so that the clock could stop. South had ample opportunity to score from the foul line but was unable to convert on their free throws.

People amaze when they use officials as an excuse for losing to Corbin. No matter if its boys or girls they look to the officiating as an excuse. Of late, I wonder if the refs themselves don’t pay to much attention to this board and the comments made by some of the users. I haven’t seen a game where I felt Corbin got any breaks this year.

The officials showed no bias in the outcome of this game. The lady Redhounds were the better team tonight.

Congrats to Coach Parsons, her staff, and the lady Redhounds. I love the way that you girls share the ball. You have made us proud. Stay focused and get ready for that battle against Clay County.:thumb:

now now, how do we even know that Clay and Corbin will get to meet again?? As for you saying you dont understand why she ddint pull the starters out with a 10 pt lead..well a 10 pt lead isnt that big of a lead...as for the officating...no matter how the game is called the losing team is always going to say the refs cost them the game...But Congrats LadY reDhounds!

I am not blamiing it all on the referees Corbin was by far the better team and they play well together. There doesnt seem to be a selfish player on the team. They are a very well coached team.I just heard Clouse say on Wymt that Coach Parsons said it was their home floor and they should be the ones to cut the nets down.I think she really did a good job of motivating them tonight and getting them ready to play.

I just felt like there were a few calls that were from behind the play and I wasn't the only one that thought so,from the reaction of the SL crowd.

Corbin was the better team and I guess I sounded like a sore loser and I am sorry.

As for pulling the starters I meant it would have been nice for her to pull them with 10 or so seconds left for them to get the recognition that they deserved as the game was coming to an end.

Good luck 13th region!!

I would like to say that Brittney Jackson is a very important part of the Corbin team. Of course, she has gotten almost no recognition and I am going to give it to her. In the district final I believe she hit 9 of 10 free throws. She has been a good free throw shooter all year. I'm sure she had 10 or 12 rebounds against South and she quickly gets the defensive rebounds into the offensive flow. She plays very good defense and also handles the point when needed. Often when Corbin is trying to break the press, she is the one who gets the ball. You can count on her giving you steals, rebounds and assists in every game. In fact, she may be Corbin's rebound leader this year. She's a scrappy player, she keeps her head up and she is becoming a floor leader. Corbin will be depending quite a bit on her next year. There I feel better having given her some of her due.

Jackson was huge tonight. She did indeed hit 9-of-10 FTs, and down the stretch it seems as though she got every rebound. The stat sheet I saw had her with 9 rebounds, but I think she had more like 12 or so.

Is she a junior?

It does get very old. When I see favoritism shown towards the Hounds(and I have seen a few games prior to this year when I thought the boys team received some), I will admit to it and also denounce it.

This Corbin team plays basketball the way I like to see it played, and so has South from the few games that I have seen them play.

I agree on both points! If South hits a better pct. from the line, this game goes down to the wire.

SL was 4-10 in the 4th, while Corbin was 14-16.
