  1. great to hear....I have played with him forever it's nice to see a great guy like chris off to a good start.
  2. In nky it would be St. Henry and Campbell County
  3. congrats to Mrs. Fookes!!!! Great coach and great person for Boone County High School.
  4. The Coach....You are definitely right on being outside. 30 and above sounds about right....As my college coach would say were just getting "ACCLIMATED" I hate that word it's so cold ha. But it prepares you for the season. And that obviously is what practice is all about.
  5. i know bulldog will agree with me. I love playing at Tates Creek. Really nice field...Also PRP was mentioned. I played there under the lights one fall and it was looking beautiful.
  6. Nice to hear about my rebels playing well!! Good win with New Cath coming off the high of winning the All A. Another big game against SK coming up.
  7. Boone back up point guard....Sandlin.........Very impressive and with a bright future. I love watching this girl play. What she lacks in strength and size she makes up for with basketball savy and great court vision. Also makes very solid passes for a Frosh and her shot is developing but looks pretty good. With her and Bradley in the backcourt it will make for a lethal duo in the following years.
  8. Ranger....You statement about the Point Guard is exactly right on!! Last game that is what killed Notre Dame once Boone turned up the press. They will need a big performance from there Point against the Rebels. Either way both teams are definitely better than right before Christmas. It should be another great one. But i still don't see it topping the classic of the first matchup. That game was just incredible.
  9. Yes a very good win, they are still a very good team even without mike at the point gaurd. Boone was still without thier starting point gaurd also, he was in uniform but did not see the floor.
  10. Boone didnt play their best, down by 11 around 3 or 4 min. left in the game and McFarland hits a three under a min. to take the lead by one and then hit two free throws shortly after. I predicted a 4 point win, 3 is close enough.
  11. Im going to go with Boone in this one by 4, SK struggled with Conner and Boone put Conner away easily without their starting point gaurd.
  12. Thank Cootyb25 Im glad you liked my post and insight. Everything you guys were saying was so accurate and exactly my feelings. But after watching that classic I just couldn't help myself but post something ha!! And once again on the Newspaper situation......UGH!! :fight: You guys coudn't be more correct. This game definitely deserved some press. And unfortanetely it didn't get what it deserved. Just like so many other great NKY games. In all sports! I played high school baseball for Boone. And unless it was against Cov Cath, or a big district game we got nothing. It's frustrating because there has been some classics NKY games throughout my 4 years of High School that I was looking forward to checking out in the paper and ended up with nothing. I guess it is what it is and there is nothing we can do about it...Anyway Amen to what the Old Guy had to say. Merry Christmas and good luck to these team and all the teams traveling this Holiday season.
  13. One more thing...very disappointed in the Enquirer. I love reading my sports section every day. And while I understand the Bengals, college basketball roundup and other things, this game was a classic and I feel that both teams deserved praise for this battle. I wish they could have had an article. Or atleast got the box score right. Hopefully the Post will step up and have something nice tom.
  14. Amazing game!!! Definitely got my 3 dollars worth last night. I was very very impressed with the game and both teams. I have been supporting those Boone seniors once sophomores since my senior year and I had to get out since I am home for break to watch them. I picked an absolute classic. IMO there won't be a game girls or guys except for maybe a Holmes Cov Cath matchup in the boys department that will match this game until March. You guys have all summed up this game perfectly but I can't help myself from adding some insight even though I will have some Boone bias. But I do think it's pretty accurate. There were 2 factors to why Boone won this basketball game. First off, the depth of Boone's team vs. the depth of Notre Dame. Mrs. Fookes used her second rotation of players great. When Boone's second five was on the floor there was honestly no difference from when the starting five was on the floor. That's actually when Boone made there run. The Rebels had there second group on the floor when they started pressuring Notre Dame making there 11 point comeback. That second five will be a key for Boone the rest of the year. If they can provide that spark the sky's the limit for this team. Notre Dame I think they just got wore down towards the end of this game. They don't have that kind of depth atleast from what I saw. When Boone turned that press on Notre Dame couldn't handle it either from lack of point guard play or just by getting tired. But they are a legit team. The second factor IMO was the coaching like you guys have said. Both Darpel and Fookes are excellent coaches. 2 of the best around. But in this game a back and forth battle most of the way was won by Mrs. Fookes implementing the press in the 4th quarter. Notre Dame and Coach Darpel had no answer for it. Notre Dame took it to the Rebels the whole game. Crunch time in the 4th and OT the Pandas looked like a completely different team out there. Lastly...a couple notes - it's only december...both coaches will have made adjustments the next time they play. And both teams will be much better later on in the season. - Boone has the depth to use that press the whole game...honestly I don't see a team in NKY who can handle that for an entire ball game. If Boone goes to that full court trap/defense more often they are going to be very tough to stop. - Notre dame is very very good in the half court set. IMO there offense should run through Drees everytime down the court. With her and Tierney having the ball in there hands makes them much better. - And finally......the ninth region championship...Boone VS Notre Dame...It's going to happen and be a great one. I don't see anybody else standing there way. They are clearly the 2 best teams.
  15. NKYBOY what is your deal? I played for Boone the last four years and it seems as though all you want to do is not give Boone credit where it is due, now sorry they arent as good as your beloved Crusaders, the way you talk no one is, but I believe so far this year Boone has beat who they needed to and Im pretty sure they put a nice little spanking on Conner without thier starting point guard and Conner has played close to two of the top teams in the nky.
  16. Yes, Earls is the 6'5 freshmen for the Rebels. kid has a huge upside and a beautiful hook shot.
  17. Yes it is true that Murray is not coming out for basketball this year but Scottie did.
  18. WOW:eek: Heard it was close until half time...
  19. GREAT PICK UP...The team next year will be losing 7 or 8 starters. And a couple key pitchers...I think York was mainly recruited to just be on the mound. I look for him to stick there and help us out. But im not sure if Coach Porter will give him a shot at playing the field. 3rd base and 2nd will be open in the fall of 2007.
  20. Who scored the goal for Highlands? Any details on the game?
  21. Yea Boone's field is struggling. With that bad storm near the end of last season knocking out the fence it is definitely in need of some help. The new hitting area behind the dugout is very nice and there has been other nice little additions. IMO though what really made boone stand out being old school was the green wood wall. Now that it is gone the appearance is bad, but I still think the infield is one of the best in the region. I may be biased since I played at Boone but Coach Wilhoite does a great job of taking care of what he can.
  22. Senior night at Conner, do you think the cougars can pull off the upset like last year with Boone looking ahead to the playoffs?
  23. Thanks rocks fans for clearing those games up and adding the details. I was pretty young then, so i don't remember much from those battles of Boone and Trinity.........Then you guys got Brohm and company and those battles to turned to blowouts :fight: haha.
  24. If I can remember in the early 90's those Boone County and Trinity matchups in the state finals were definitely good ones. I know one of the years Trinity beat my Rebels with a guy by the name of Shaun Alexander in the backfield.
