Our access to inside practice facilities are limited. My typical rule is we are outside if it is over 35 degrees. What are your guidlines?

We go outside if at all possible, however our field is till frozen and snow covered with more winter weather on the way. We may be inside for a while. Typically we go outside around 40 degrees or above. Cold weather is tough on those young fragile arms, especially early in the season. Long sleeves are a must, our players (including position players)are requires to wear sleeves under 70 degrees, pitchers all season.

Are you guys able to get on your fields? How do you keep your fields from being mudpits?

 

I spend about a month on the parking lot until our field gets dry enough to get on.

Thats what we did until our field was ready, then are coach made us work our tails off to get the field in proper condition, that was by far the worst part of baseball.

I hope we are out there Thursday, but there is a chance we might not be. I'm sick of being stuck inside.

Yeah, I bet that is nice.

My motto is if its above 30 then we are outside, if its not, then we are inside. You'll have to play in the cold, sometimes a light rain and sometimes even while its snowing(done that before as a player). So why not practice in it. Makes you learn how to handle certian situations better.

The Coach....You are definitely right on being outside. 30 and above sounds about right....As my college coach would say were just getting "ACCLIMATED"

Keep listening to them WG, as I know you will, they are an excellent staff. I prefer 32° or above, but sometimes I can overlook 1-2°.....
