  1. You are ill informed. I'll send you a private message next fall when Brent Schaeffer becomes the ESPN highlight poster child, regardless of which of the two teams he chooses, and I'll remind you......I TRIED TO TELL YOU SO ON BGP IN JANUARY!
  2. He has already done it on two college fields.......Tennessee and junior college where he lit it up. That is part of the reason he is so highly regarded....he is an experienced talent.
  3. The situation was actually that Schaeffer hurt his collarbone and that is the reason Claussen even got to play in 2004. Ainge and Schaeffer were sharing time and both got hurt. Rivals.com says Brent Schaeffer and Tim Tebow are the only two five-star players as dual threat quarterbacks this year. I'd say he is rated as being pretty darn good. Matter of fact, I'd stick my neck out and say he is great. I personally think he'll go to Ole Miss to stay in the SEC, and possibly have the opportunity to compete against Tennessee, but if he chooses NC State, the consenses is Justin Burke won't be playing his first two years of college.
  4. I am a great admirer of Justin Burke as well. He stood for all the good things about high school football while he was at Lexington Catholic. But Brent Schaeffer is the once in a long while player who brings an offense instant explosion. Favorable comparisons would be with Michael Vick and Vincent Young. Mark my word, which ever school he chooses (NC State or Ole Miss with his decision coming tomorrow) will have immediate offensive success. Trust me, Justin is not in a league with this kid at this time.
  5. Marc Trestman is well respected as a quarterback coach and has a long NFL resume. The problem, in Justin's case, is that Trestman is a known NFL nomad, and has never stayed in one place longer than three years. Will he be there during Justin's time at NC State?
  6. No disrespect to any Vol fan, but many players seem to get in trouble in Knoxville. I have heard that Schaeffer is a pretty good kid.
  7. his decision to go to NC State if former Tennessee quarterback Brent Schaeffer decides to play for the Wolfpack?
  8. I haven't seen them this year, but ........what is wrong with this Bruin team?
  9. Obviously, a very well rounded young man to be an Ivy Leaguer. Congratulations!
  10. December 9, 1978 UK/Kansas @ Rupp Arena Macy made a technical called on the Jayhawks after calling a timeout they did not have. 67-66 final. http://www.kusports.com/news/columns/story/112785
  11. The dunking in warmups "T" is a joke since they have dunked in warmups at every game I have seen this year. Not one dunk or two, but 20 dunks in some cases. Obviously, it must be a rule, but is not enforced by most logical officials.
  12. You're right! The Tidewater area of Virginia has put out some freakish athletes like Michael Vick and Allen Iverson and lots of other solid football talent.
  13. Florida, Texas, and California are not only hotbeds for high school football talent because of the pure numbers in population, but also because they warm weather states and the general population is more active and thus, better athletes as a general rule. Also, great high school football tradition certainly doesn't hurt.
  14. The "potential" is there. It is a sleeping giant for the right person. Good coaches can teach football, but can't teach speed. We all know there is already plenty of it at Bryan Station.
  15. Dr. Oliver Lucas of Montbello High in Denver, CO. Coached for the Colorado Buffaloes on Bill McCartney's staff when the won a national championship in the 1990's. Has had top notch Division I players the last few years. Players signing at Texas and Michigan. How did the Bryan Station job get on this qualified coach's radar?
  16. "Coach J".....it looks like you have been there......done that! Good advice.
  17. I would like to see Scott County on the top 5 list. I saw them playing on their home floor. On their home floor, I would put them in the top 2.
  18. Keep it at Rupp Arena. Only three miles from home!
  19. Young team (two sophomore, one junior starter) trying to gain some experience and get healthy before the city and district games. The also have played a tough schedule to date and might need a break in tough competition. They are in the LIT in just over a week. Coach Chiles has successfully been at this for a long time and I am sure he knows how to bring a young team along.
  20. I do not feel Bryan Station is impressive this year. They do not put on the pressure, full-court defense that last year's team, led by Tino Washington, did. They need a high turnover number to be successful.
  21. IMO, there is no doubt.......Bryan Station. I do not know specific records, but they have made a big move in the last couple of years. I do not think this year's team is as good as last year's team who had great leadership in Tino Washington.
  22. Although I didn't play against him, I would say that if I did, Tyler Hicks from Scott County would be my choice. I have never seen a player bounce around like a pinball on the basketball floor like that in my life. Did not know the meaning of the word, "quit". Got a whole lot of mileage out of his ability. Wherever he got that energy, I would like to bottle it and sell it. I would buy a bottle for myself, first.
  23. Where have you been the last three months, "Astatedfact"? Welcome back to BGP! For what it is worth, about a half dozen years ago, the Iowa Hawkeyes had a very athletic tight end they decided to move inside. This player was a 6'6"/250 tight end in high school. He was ready to quit the Iowa team, but decided to stick it out. It kind of worked out for him, since he was the second pick in the NFL draft by the Oakland Raiders. His name is Robert Gallery. NFL player.....big, big bucks.
