I heard Williamsburg was the one that dropped Harlan. This is the year they needed to play the Dragons.

Whitley must be playing well right now. Coach Baker is doing a great job. Glad to see he got a chance.

I listened to the game and Harlan must have played well. I don't remember Cumberland going 10 or 11 deep in the first half. I know they got in early foul trouble. I think Johnson played until there were about 2:00 to go in the game and Wilson played until there was about 1:00 in the game left. Both studs played more than half of the fourth quarter according to the radio. The radio also said it was 58-40.

I would have to agree with Old School and say Harlan before Bville. Yes, Harlan had some rough years between 01-03, but have been decent since then. 92-00 they were great, and they had one bad year in 91. So I would have to say Harlan before Bville. I also would like to say Old School, you are right, the Redskins have dedicated themselves. I seen them a couple of times running the golf course when I made the trip up from Harlan. They have worked hard to get were they are at.

That is the Friday schedule from what I have heard. They moved it a day was what I was told.

First I will say the job Akal and Edwards have done is sensational, but they had a good year last year and will have a good year this year. That would be it. If Cumberland stayed open, they would struggle again next year no matter who coaches them. They have had help from different places and Nolan would be the obvious choice if it was a coach from one of the county schools.

I wouldn't be to shocked to see Harlan win this game. They are rebuilding but they will be competitive.

Yes, you are right. I forgot about the defensive part. Really offensive minded here, forgive me. I do think he would have helped somewhat, but as we are both sure Cumberland would still have won the game. Too many weapons. Not enough speed for us.

Harlan needs to have two good weeks of practice with the open week and beat Jenkins to get into the playoffs.

I agree Waggle 12, but I thought the two sophomores they used didn't look to bad. Link#5 and Middleton#14(I think) looked good at times. They did move the ball a lot better on the ground than they have in games past. I really do believe these two could be pretty good together the next two years. I think Hensley#2 is the biggest playmaker on the team though.

Blackbears, You may be right about that. I didn't think of it that way, but are you sure this wasn't the second year of the contract. That is usually how long they last. Also, did they sign a two year contract because of the new school being built. It might have been a one year contract. I guess we will find out when the schedule is released, but if they signed a two year contract they will have to return the game.

Just because they are 3A doesn't mean anything. Harlan will not have to play them if they choose not to. They are in 1A and just because they played Cawood they would not have to play the new school.

I would like to clear up the Speedy conversation also. And I will not post on a different topic again. I played baseball when Speedy was helping the baseball team. I love Speedy and would not make fun of him. I have given Speedy rides to his house and also gave him a couple of jackets off my back when he didn't have one, so please do not say I am making fun of speedy. As for the new coach, I don't think it will be Hensley, he is pretty happy with his job. I look for it to be someone unexpected, there are a lot of coaches that would love to have this job though.

I don't know Pappy, I was wondering the same thing. The last time I saw him was about 3-4 months ago riding a bicycle down Main St. I noticed I haven't seen him running around catching footballs this year.

I have seen Brumback play and he is a very strong kid. If he catches the ball on the block he is hard to stop.
