Now that we have seen the first month of basketball I was wondering how your preseason thoughts were measuring up to how our local teams are currently playing. How would you rank the teams in the region now?

Well, my projects have been pretty close with the exception of Knox Central, I don't think that they are playing well right now. The biggest surprise for me is Lynn Camp, losing their best player from a year ago. They are over achieving.

The top 5 are

 

1/2 Cumberland; Corbin: heads and shoulders above everyone else right now!

3. Pineville: Coach Strange has the boys playing well

4. Jackson Co: They are making some noise and on tape they can play some ball.

5. South Laurel: I give this to them out of respect of the past.

6. Bell Co. Have a solid 5, my question is what happens when they get into foul trouble.

IMO Corbin and Cumberland are above Jackson Co. for sure but JC should be above Pineville and North Laurel has to be above South. As for Lynn Camp, IMO again, they are more of a team this year rather than a one man Bargo show. LC is better, by far, than the teams they have beaten so over achieving problely does not apply here. Their schedule so far for wins as helped their record alot, their only loss to Jackson Co.(by far the only good team they have played) should show them what they need to work on. Also Whitley Co. looks to be on the right track this year. When Crawford comes back to an already awsome group of players (and this may not be as easy as some may think it will be) I dont see anyone except Cumberland staying within 10 of them in the 13th.

Dont know too much about the 13th but I have watched Corbin and Jackson County play the past couple days up at North Laurel... And its hard to believe there is anyone in the region better than those two..

That is a strong list of teams and just a thought in regard to the strength of the 13th compared to the 14th region, if Whitaker and Warren had stayed at Bell Co all 10 of these teams listed would be stronger than any team in the 14th with the exception of June Buchanan.

Yeah, I just haven't seen much of Middlesboro this year. South is definately rebuilding this year though. They are going to have stretches of struggling times.

1A. - Cumberland (dominant inside, best defensive team in region, veteran guards, stong senior class)

1B. - Corbin (playing great, still fairly young, good depth, dont know what to expect with Josh Crawford injury)

3,4,5. - Knox, Jackson and Pineville all fairly even. (Knox, a solid team with an excellent young scorer and good talent around him) (Jackson, good veteran group with a horse inside) (Pineville, very good big man, excellent guard with some good shooting around them)

6. - Clay County (good shooter, with some very good YOUNG talent around him)

7. - South (A solid big man, good supporting cast)

8. - Middlesboro (Very talented staring 5, good shooters, still a little young)

9. - North (One excellent scorer, good point guard, vulnerable inside)

10. - Whitley/Bell (havent seen Whitley, but sound like a solid pretty athletic team) (Bell, One solid returning starter with a lot of good, but inexperienced players around him)

My poll and comments must have hit the nail on the head, otherwise I guess I would have gotten some feedback from some of the 13th region guru's. Come on fella's what are your thoughts?
