For Bell County, the road to Bowling Green may very well go through both Louisville and Paducah ... if it does, it might be a record. Mayfield had to go to Louisville and Beechwood last year. Ah, six classes ...

No argument about the Warren East game in '07 ... that game could have gone either way and was tied in the final seconds. And no argument about home-field advantage, some of which was earned.

I know a lot of Lone Oak's critics like to harp on it, but since 2007, Lone Oak has only played two true road games in the playoffs. Both were losses at Allen County in 2008 and 2010. In 2008, it was to a team that had won the distirct title. Last year, it was a 7-point loss to a team that got to the state finals. No shame in either one of those.

In the first half, it was rather vanilla. In the second half, Tilghman opened up some things. 38-7, huh? I would take the Falcons and 21 points any day of the week.

Actually, I think it's the opposite. Many teams still play the regional rivals that might have been in their district under the old system. I don't think the scheduling grid has helped either. Locking district games into certain dates seem to have given schools less flexibility in scheduling.

Minimal or none at all ...

I don't think the quality of football is all that much better than it was ... say, 20 years ago. The talent level and quality of athletes may be better, but I think fundamentals (blocking, tackling, etc.) have suffered. Some blame the implementation of Hal Mumme-style spread offenses, and I'm inclined to agree somewhat. Six classes had had a negligible effect on things, other than watering down the competition.

Of course, if you chastised me for maintaining that the world wasn't flat, he would be inclined to agree with you. :lol:

I'm not placating anyone. Just expressing my view as I see it. Frankly, I don't see many posters from the undisputed top program in the state in any other sport bemoaning how rough they have it. If it merits being called out, so be it. I respect the programs for what they are, and I respect the schools they represent. My contention that they have some advantages does nothing to diminish that.

My comments are entirely credible. They just don't fit the filter of the green-colored glasses that some wear. My point is that Trinity is finally playing a schedule of regular games against schools much like itself ... big enrollments, private, etc. I realize it may be a relatively new experience for them, but this is what the Elders and Moellers of the world regularly face. Trinity has much more in common with those programs than they do the likes of Manual, Male, Ballard, etc. I have a great deal of appreciation for what Trinity has accomplished this season, but don't ask anyone to feel sorry for them because they're finally playing a schedule of regular competition that is worthy of their program.

Nope ... that format was changed sometime in the 1980s, I think. The rotation was instituted just a few years ago.
