  3. The Reds may decide that Balentien fills the same role at a lower cost ...
  4. I'm sure the Tampa Bay management knows what their options are. Losing Crawford to free agency would also net them two first-round draft picks, and as long as the Rays are trying to win next year, Crawford fits into their plans. I didn't say it was solely because of Crawford.

  6. 7 ... Elder 5 ... Seneca 3 ... Male 2 ... Bullitt East 1 ... Louisville St. Xavier Male
  7. Most coaches want to start the second half with their first team on the field. If Murray got those guys out of there after the first series, as I assume they did, I have no problem with that.
  8. 7 ... Russellville 5 ... Butler County 3 ... Logan County 2 ... Lexington Catholic 1 ... Edmonson County Russellville
  9. Crawford won't be available. One of the Rays' motivations for the Kazmir deal was that it would free up money for Crawford.
  10. My personal opinion ... playing in a district with Paducah Tilghman, Union County, Webster County and Muhlenberg South was better than competing against Fort Campbell and Owensboro Catholic.
  11. McLean lost 42-41 to Owensboro Catholic, and both of their losses are to ranked teams. This won't be a 50-point game. It could be pretty competitive.
  12. I think Johnson Central would be at least 2-1 against Ashland's schedule. I'm not saying that they would beat Belfry, but apparently Ashland didn't get them by much. The Ashland-Johnson Central game is what, 3-4 weeks away? Lots can happen between now and then. And Johnson Central's schedule the next 2-3 weeks will tell us a little more about them.
  13. I didn't say Johnson Central was better, only that the gap between the two may not be nearly as large as some would be inclined to think. How badly do you think Boyle County and Bell County, clearly the top two teams in 4A, would beat the likes of Greenup County and Raceland? I dare say ... as badly as they would want.
  14. Maybe decided on a late, disputed missed field goal ...
  15. I think it is. Ashland's schedule is in no way comparable to Johnson Central's. Ashland may win when they meet, but I don't think it's indisputable.
  16. Mayfield led 21-0 at the half, and Tilghman scored twice in the fourth quarter on big plays. Tyrese Murrell, Mayfield's leading rusher, didn't play offense in the second half because of a thigh bruise and/or a hamstring injury ... I've heard both. Tilghman's speed on defense took away some of Mayfield's quick-strike capability, but the Cardinals pretty much dominated the first half. They didn't seem to have the same intensity in the second half.
  17. My understanding is that Murray led 62-6 at halftime. I would have trouble believing that Murray coach Steve Duncan would run up the score on Fulton City, a school with which the Tigers have a long rivalry.
  18. I doubt it, actually ... Central is 3A in a six-class system. They would most likely be 2A in a four-class setup.
  19. I posted a five-class alignment on this board about two or three years ago. I much preferred it to six classes. It may still be available via a search.
  20. I'm not taking a stand either way on the four-team-per-district argument, but I can understand the idea that it's easier to sell with four or five classes than it is with six.
  21. People can cite the argument that Simon Kenton was a 4-seed, but you also have to factor in the skewed 6A bracket.
  22. And Simon Kenton had the luxury of both Trinity and St. Xavier in the opposite bracket.
