For whatever reason, I just have a goo feeling about this game for the Panthers. They have a lot of talent, especially in the backfield in the form of Daniel Harmon, and their defense is going to be one of the best in the mountains this year. I look for Pikeville to win this one with a score somewhere in the neighborhood of 24-14.

His name is Jordan Johnson, and he is a 6'5" 270 pound Senior for the Panthers. I know he has betting getting letters and offers from schools for a while now, but not sure on what schools in particular. He may not get as much publicity as others with Pikeville being a Power I/Maryland I option running team, but he is plenty athletic enough to play at the next level.

Daniel Harmon for Pikeville is lightning in a bottle. Every time he touches the ball he could take it the distance, just ask Louisvile Holy Cross. Couldn't find the official stats yet, but he had to have had close to 250 yards of total offense. I know he had a TD run of 77 yards, and kickoff return of 96 yards and another TD run inside the redzone. This guys speed, quickness, drive and determination will gain him a great deal of recognition by the time this season is over.

Great win for Pikeville tonight beating a quality opponent like Louisville Holy Cross, this game was close but it probably shouldn't have been. Pikeville looked sloppy with early turnovers and constant delay of game penalties. But the defense solidified in the second half, and the Panthers pulled it out.

I need to go on record and refute my earlier comment about the 4 to 5 hour practices. This statement came from a conversation I had with a fellow Pikeville fan, and has since been proven completely false. Also, the statement involving the line change appears to be inevitable also has no factual evidence behind it, just hearsay.

I think there is quite a bit of dissention amongst the ranks in the football program at Pikeville. There have been some player defections through the off-season and rumblings have been building about Coach Jackson leaving regardless of the Henderson Co. situation. Bottom line, at Pikeville you must win, and you must please the parents/boosters. Thus far Coach Jackson has had marginal success at best, not winning a district title yet, and from what I've heard he isn't doing a great deal pleasing the parents with the 4-5 hour practices and the extremely vigorous off-season training programs. Just based on my limited experience I would have to say that a change in Pikeville seems inevitable at this point, which leaves the Panthers in an awful spot for the upcoming season.

Pikeville lost their three best linemen with Casey Rowe, Jordan Tibbs, and Brad Bryant graduating. They also lost one of their top WR/CB in Jacob Sword, but there is a great deal of talent returning for the Panthers this season. All purpose players Daniel Harmon, Tim Honaker, and Ted Honaker will all be returning this season as well as a great deal of other players. Something that will hurt Pikeville will be the loss of Senior-to-be Eric Shockey to a knee injury suffered at a track meet. He would have probably contributed at TE and maybe backup QB on offense and Safety or weak linebacker on defense. This Panther team has a great deal of talent, I believe one issue will be finding some guys to step in on the line. But as always Coach Jackson and his staff have been relentlessly working with the kids in the weightroom, and I'm confident there will be guys who will step up. If things continue the way they did last year, the Panthers will need some improvement in the passing game to help with their dominating multi-dimensional rushing attack. I think the biggest overall question for Pikeville will be finding leadership on the field. Last years senior class with John Michael Mayo, Ryan Shurtleff, Brad Bryant, and Casey Rowe (among others) were truly great leaders. This upcoming senior class needs to prove that they can step up and lead this team to where it is capable of going. I believe the new alignment really helps Pikeville, as now they wouldn't match up with Beechwood and the like until the Finals. Pikeville SHOULD be among the top 2 or 3 teams in their half of the state.

Shelby Valley is about 15 minutes from Pikeville going South on US 23.

I don't think anyone ahs scored 80 on Pikeville all year. Come to think of it, I can't name a time when someone score 70 on them, not even Shelby Valley or Paintsville. The score will probably be in the 50s or 60s.

I don't think Valley will run away with the game at all tomorrow. I think Pikeville is playing awfully well right now and with a lot of confidence. I'm looking for a very close game.

Yeah, Allen Central only played 7 players most of the game so they probably did wear down a little bit at the end. They also had one of their starters foul out late in the game further restricting their rotation. BTW, the Pikeville coaches were great tonight!

Okay, this is part III in this series this season with the previous two going to Valley. Pikeville is playing arguably their best ball of the year though, I think it'll be a tightly contested game. The game will be tomorrow night following the girls championship game at the Expo Center in Pikeville. Should start at around 8 pm.

Pikeville comes out of the gates a little slow, but gets back on track late in the first half. Second half was close the whole way through. Pikeville was able to pull away a bit in overtime. Great game by both teams, despite some bad officiating against both sides it never played a role in the outcome of the game. Pikeville had clutch performances from everyone, but #3 Jordan Bell gave them the spark early in the game and made key play after key play late. Allen Central had some great performances from #14 and #34, sorry I don't know their names maybe someone can fill us in. Pikeville moves on to play Shelby Valley in the Regional Championship game tomorrow night. Good luck to Coach Williams and the Panthers!

When I said "lacks the physical capcity" I meant that Adams is not at all physical or aggressive when he plays. The explanation from the ref to the coach after the T was called which I heard was that the player was "laughing" after he was told that he was not the one calling the game.

The elbow was called on Adams who honestly lacks the physical capacity to throw an elbow. #3 said to the ref that the raceland player was over the line line Pikeville's player was called, to which the ref said to be quite, so he did but was smiling and the ref took it as a smirk and the T was called--story from the ref and from #3 (Bell).

This game was pretty horribly officiated. Raceland had 0 fgs in the fourth quarter, but went 19-25 from the line in the 4th alone. Pikeville had 4 Ts called on them and their coach who probably has never cussed in his life got tossed.

I heard Brian Milam actually apologized to Pikeville's coach about the ridiculousness of the way the game was called. Just what I heard.

Pikeville beat Belfry earlier this year, Pikeville should be in before Belfry.
