  1. After winning their respective regional tournaments last night, Hazard and South Laurel will face each other in the first round of the Sweet Sixteen. Who wins? I'm going to say: Hazard - 65 South -60 I could see South pulling off the upset, though. They weren't expected to be where they are.
  2. I'm not disagreeing with you at all. He played a pivotal role in the win. I think he could have dominated the entire game though. Does South lose a lot this year? St. John has two years left after this one. Is it possible for them to win 6 straight?
  3. That is what I was saying. He played well toward the end of the game and in OT. He was changing the shots of the Corbin players. I just thought throughout the first three quarters or so he looked soft at times. I understand he is a sophomore, and I think he is a good player. I just expected a little more out of him, and he didn't show that until South started their rally.
  4. I would say four of them were at the end of regulation and during OT. I said that to show how vital he was to the comeback. What post were you reading?
  5. I agree that their were a lot of missed calls...ON BOTH ENDS!!! The officials let the game get physical and that is fine - it's high school basketball - toughen up or go home! I think Corbin was playing the last 3 minutes "not to lose" rather than to win. There is no way they should have lost this game, but hats off to South for fighting back. I thought St. John played awful until the end of the game. His defense really affected the Corbin inside game during the end of regulation and in OT.
  6. I'm not against Lynn Camp in anyway. I don't think they'll get by South because of experience, but who knows. I was just stating that everyone has their opinion, and everyone thinks they are an expert. That is what makes this board worth looking at. Who cares who gives what team respect, or who roots for who? In the end, if we all had it figured out, why would we play the games? That being said, I see a Corbin/South rematch. But, with the way this sports season has been (at all levels, in all sports) we don't know what will happen. It should be interesting to say the least.
  7. Lynn Camp is a dangerous team because they put up a lot of points. Though I would like to see Lynn Camp pull it out, I think South is too experienced for the Campers. Plus, I'm picking South to make another trip to Rupp.
  8. It's easy to scrutinize if you aren't a reporter. I read a book by Morgan Wootten, and since you are so knowledgeable about basketball, I'm sure you know who he is (without using Google). He said in his book that when you begin the season, you realize that everyone around you becomes an expert. In case you didn't know, Morgan Wootten was the coach at DeMatha High School (where Keith Bogans attended) and in 46 years he had a winning percentage of 87% - 1,274 wins - 192 losses. What sports writers do is not as easy as you think.
  9. It was a two point game at halftime and Leisge had only taken one shot. He decides to take 18 (he only made one) in the second half, and it is a 10 point game. That really hurt Cumberland. Johnson should have touched the ball every possesion.
  10. 1973 Clay County - Marcus McKissic 1981 Clay County - Marty Roberts, Russell Corum 1985 Clay County - Richie Farmer 1986 Clay County - Richie Farmer 1987 Clay County - Richie Farmer 1993 Harlan - Mike Jones, Charles Thomas, Todd Cox 1994 Clay County - Chris McKissic (Harlan got robbed this year) 1995 Harlan - Charles Thomas, Todd Cox, Casey Lester 1996 Harlan - Casey Lester, Nathan Blanton 1997 Corbin - Rick Jones 1998 Clay County - Stephen Asher, Antwone Henson 1999 Clay County - Stephen Asher, Antwone Henson 2000 Corbin - Derek Barton, Josh Brock 2001 Clay County - Jeremy Asher, Richard Walker 2002 Rockcastle - Aaron Cash, Aaron Anderkin 2003 Cumberland - Eddie Creech, Matt Haynes 2004 Rockcastle - Aaron Cash 2005 Corbin - Jordan Noble, Andrew Parks 2006 South Laurel - Walt Allen, Ty Proffit, Trey Smith, Jordan Hammonds 2007 South Laurel - Ty Proffitt, Trey Smith, Jordan Hammonds I've had help, I think I'm right on these. Again, HDE would know A LOT more than me.
  11. I hate to see Cumberland lose, but Knox seems like a good team. When is the championship game being held?
  12. Knox up by 7 at the end of the 3rd. I'm not sure of the score, though.
  13. 1993 Harlan - Mike Jones, Charles Thomas, Todd Cox 1995 Harlan - Charles Thomas, Todd Cox, Casey Lester 1996 Harlan - Casey Lester, Nathan Blanton 2001 Clay County - Asher, Richard Walker 2002 Rockcastle - Aaron Cash, Aaron Anderkin 2003 Cumberland - Eddie Creech, Matt Haynes 2004 Rockcastle - Aaron Cash 2005 Corbin - Jordan Noble, Andrew Parks (I think) 2006 South Laurel - Walt Allen, Ty Proffit 2007 South Laurel - Ty Proffitt, (not sure of others) I also think the 42-45 Harlan teams had Wallace "Wah Wah" Jones on them, but I'm not sure. Also, was the good player for the 2000 Corbin team named Josh Brock? That's what I was thinking. HDE could do a lot better than me.
  14. On the Wazoo site, it has the a broadcast schedule. It shows both regional games as part of their broadcast. I, for one, am glad!
  15. You're talking about the 2005 tournament. Cawood did not make the post season in 2003 - they got beat by Evarts in the opening round of the district.
  16. Who's going to advance to the second round? I'll take: Cumberland - 57 Knox - 52
  17. I'm wanting to only go to the Friday and Saturday games. Can I do this and how much are tickets for all games going to cost me? If I buy a ticket for the first game, do I have to leave and buy another for the second, and so on?
  18. Here is the article for the game: Jumpers Top Shorthanded Cumberland
  19. The 5th would be Liggins. That would be three top-30 players on one team (Hopson, Miller, Liggins). It wouldn't hurt my feelings.
  20. The only two games I have kept up with when UHA played are the ones against Hazard and Cumberland. From reading the paper and watching the Hazard game, it seemed to me that UHA controlled the game. When the opponent would get close, they would just push the lead again. Hopson plays that way as well, in my opinion. He scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebound against Cumberland, who is a solid team.
  21. This selection is primarily because of his national ranking in my opinion. Now, to debate his ranking is a legitimate argument. I have seen him play once and felt his effort was completely there, but when he wanted to take over the game he did. Is he one of the top players in the country? Yes. Does he always play like it? No.
  22. Will anyone be giving updates of the game?
  23. If you name all of those teams, you have to add Jackson Co.
