Les Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 How about them Campers? Knuckles had 25 ... Wagner and Mobley drained key free throws in the end. Lynn Camp knocked off Pineville and eliminated the final 52nd District team. The Wildcats are solid.
YoungBlood Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Final Great win for Lynn Camp. This is their 1st EVER win in the regional tournament. Congrats! :thumb:
Les Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Yep first win in five trips. Who was it that said Lynn Camp couldn't beat Bell?
Andrew_Corbin Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 At one point, I thought Lynn Camp had run out of steam and Bell County was going to come back and take it. No one really gave Lynn Camp a chance to advance--I'm happy for those kids.
Les Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Ummm, I disagree with you Andrew. I said in the paper if they scored 70 points they would win. How many points did they score? 70. Actually, I know a handful of people that felt like the Campers would win.
3wishes Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Good win Campers, way to knock off Bell County, they were ready for Spring ball anyway.
Andrew_Corbin Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 So, how about Lynn Camp's chances of going to the 13th Region finals?
Les Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 They lost by about 40 when they played Jackson, but Bargo wasn't there (I don't believe) and this isn't the same Lynn Camp team. I also believe if South wins, the Campers can give the Cardinals fits.
DADDY CAT Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I don't think he was, Les. That was fairly early in the season, game 7 or 8, I think. Lynn Camp is a lot more confident than many think. They have been in a lot of situations where they were down 20+ and came back to win the last couple of years and have found ways to pull off some close ones, also. They Played KC tight last week, and if they had played tougher defense in the first qtr. or hit some of the "gimmes" they missed late, could have been a different game.
4chs Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Congrats to the Wildcats and good luck in the semifinals!:thumb:
Les Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I agree. These kids know they can win and they're going to be a tough out.
Bubba Wilson Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Congrats to Coach Pennington and the Wildcats. He maybe the Bruce Pearl of Kentucky high school Basketball. It would not surprise me to see a bigger school that has been struggling come calling for his services. If Knox does not take care of him, I predict he is out of there after this season. Many do not realize taking an All A school to the semi's is like a big school winning the region. I know the Campers will be heavy underdogs to South in the next game. Anything is possible. I am sure Coach Wright has his ticket punched to Rupp as we type, but the Little General might have something to say about that Come Monday...lol I really like the aggressive play of the Cats. They seem to have a never say die attitude and live on the edge. They are fun to watch and have a system of play. Most sports writers and commentators have no idea and think it is street ball, but the Wildcats do have a plan, scout and have worked their tails off to get this chance...who knows, it might be like the Movie Hoosiers.....just a different title....Campers......Coach Pennington has too much hair to be Norman Dale..but what the heck. A feel good story indeed.
