He started coaching when David Mitchell was in his first year as an assistant football coach('77). Dave took over the program the next year. So, he has coached in one capacity or another at LC for 31 years. Igo was head football coach and I think Eddie Harris was the girls coach then, and Calvin Vaughn was boys b-ball coach.

Coach Jones will be 49 this year,he started coaching his first year out of high school .He has been coaching 31 years,but not girl's basketball for 31 years.

Talk to Coach Jones,Wiley Brown was actualy the head coach of the football team in 1977.This was Birdog's first year out of high school and David Mitchell's first year out of college.Wiley was a basketball star from Knox County and still owns rebounding records at Cumberland College.Wiley was a money man,knew nothing about football and Birdog says he doesn't have a clue why he was ever hired as the coach.Birdog has coached football,boys basketball,girls basketball,baseball,softball,cross county,and track.

If this is the farmer Wiley Brown from Knox Co. I seem to recall he may be from Hazel Green and played on their state champ team (basketball) way back in the day, not from Knox but Laurel Co. My guess he is still a money man! Someone was talking about him and Hazel Green the last time South won the state title.
