Yes, I think I am, at least most of them when it comes to basketball. I know more than most and will draw up plays, quote stats, and give a better than 6th grade write up on most games I observe....lol

 

 

Plus the coaches like me better. Everyone knows that the 52nd was weak this season. It was proved tonight. Great win for the Cats. HDE, why do you have such a bad taste in your mouth for Coach Pennington and his Lynn Camp Wildcats?

Heck, they've made it further than the Cumberlands and Pinevilles, who were expected to go deep.

Two teams from the 50th and 51st District will battle in the semis.

Those two districts were by far the best in the 13th Region this season.

I may have to take you up on the offer to start sports writing. My work has slowed down alot these days. It could be Bubba, Les and Jimbo....the big 3. Like Coach Wright had for last season. Or maybe we could add a fourth and be the four horsemen of sports reporters.

Congrats to Coach Pennington and the Wildcats. He maybe the Bruce Pearl of Kentucky high school Basketball. It would not surprise me to see a bigger school that has been struggling come calling for his services. If Knox does not take care of him, I predict he is out of there after this season. Many do not realize taking an All A school to the semi's is like a big school winning the region. I know the Campers will be heavy underdogs to South in the next game. Anything is possible. I am sure Coach Wright has his ticket punched to Rupp as we type, but the Little General might have something to say about that Come Monday...lol

 

I really like the aggressive play of the Cats. They seem to have a never say die attitude and live on the edge. They are fun to watch and have a system of play. Most sports writers and commentators have no idea and think it is street ball, but the Wildcats do have a plan, scout and have worked their tails off to get this chance...who knows, it might be like the Movie Hoosiers.....just a different title....Campers......Coach Pennington has too much hair to be Norman Dale..but what the heck. A feel good story indeed.

It's easy to scrutinize if you aren't a reporter. I read a book by Morgan Wootten, and since you are so knowledgeable about basketball, I'm sure you know who he is (without using Google). He said in his book that when you begin the season, you realize that everyone around you becomes an expert.

 

In case you didn't know, Morgan Wootten was the coach at DeMatha High School (where Keith Bogans attended) and in 46 years he had a winning percentage of 87% - 1,274 wins - 192 losses.

Wildcats Continue to Surprise

 

 

Coach Anthony Pennington's Lynn Camp Wildcats advanced to the 13th region semi-finals with a 70-68 win over tradition rich Bell County Thursday night at Knox Central High School. After falling behind 11-10 at the end of the first quarter the Campers came out the second quarter and played even with the Bobcats, winners of the 52nd district. To open the second half the Wildcats gained a double digit lead, behind the shooting of Derek Knuckles. He finished with a game high 25 points. Despite 35 turnovers the Wildcats withstood a strong 4th quarter rally that saw the Bobcats score 31 points. Brad Bargo was big in the post netting close to a doule double. Coach Anthony Pennington said it was the biggest win in school history. The win gave the Wildcats a record 19th victoty on the season. Cody Mobley sank several big free throws in the closing minutes as the Campers survived to face the South Laurel Cardinals in the 13th region Semi finals on Monday.

 

Of course I would put in a few quotes from both coaches, and few by the players from both teams.....How is that.
