I think the freedom he allows his teams to play with and the overall hustle of the Wildcats made me compare Pennington to Pearl. As for the orange blazer, you never know. If Coach Pennington wins the region he may wear an Orange Tux to Rupp or better yet a Black and orange striped one like the Cincy Bengals.

 

 

By being taken care of I mean treated fairly and respected for what he has accomplished. Not shown favoritism... I agree Lynn Camp has a great girls Coach as well, but this is the Boys' board so I was not talking about other sports.

 

Barbourville made the regional finals in 1975 and then in 2006.The Tigers have won a few other regional games as well inbetween...this is the first regional win for Lynn Camp in school history.

Theoretically they are one of 4 teams that can make the finals at this time:confused: I think, this is like the other CATS test, so I'm now not sure.

Richard "Birddog" Jones is a different animal as girl's coach. He is a product of the school and has coached there for 31 years. He is left alone politically, can enjoy a big win like this and will make the school happy. He's happy as is.

Coach P is an outside man we are happy to have, but he may want bigger and better things, who knows? He has given us success either way he goes.

It is just another term batted around in academia that describes the Depth Of Knowledge one must have in order to successfully answer a given question. The higher the DOK level the more critical thinking that is required to answer it. It really doesn't have to be difficult just require more than recall to answer it. Teachers are asked to develop questions on various DOK levels so that they are better prepared to critically think on the CATS test. I think it is just one more way the testing companies are getting money.

Wildcats Continue to Surprise

 

 

Coach Anthony Pennington's Lynn Camp Wildcats advanced to the 13th region semi-finals with a 70-68 win over tradition rich Bell County Thursday night at Knox Central High School. After falling behind 11-10 at the end of the first quarter the Campers came out the second quarter and played even with the Bobcats, winners of the 52nd district. To open the second half the Wildcats gained a double digit lead, behind the shooting of Derek Knuckles. He finished with a game high 25 points. Despite 35 turnovers the Wildcats withstood a strong 4th quarter rally that saw the Bobcats score 31 points. Brad Bargo was big in the post netting close to a doule double. Coach Anthony Pennington said it was the biggest win in school history. The win gave the Wildcats a record 19th victoty on the season. Cody Mobley sank several big free throws in the closing minutes as the Campers survived to face the South Laurel Cardinals in the 13th region Semi finals on Monday.

 

Of course I would put in a few quotes from both coaches, and few by the players from both teams.....How is that.

 

35 Turnovers is not basketball.....it volleyball.

 

Both teams turned the ball over with and without pressure. It was not a great display of basketball. Although it was a great display of guts with Lynn Camp outlasting Bell.

 

35 turnnovers against SL will result in a loss which has not been seen much in region games. South brings more pressure than Bell and plays much better offensively.

I don't think Coach P at LC works for free, it would be my guess all major head coaches in the county get the same amount from the board boys and girls, if someone has put in 31 years like Coach Jones make him alittle more happy as well. Anyway what a night the finals would be if the Cats and Redhounds were to both make it! When was last time these two played?

I would say it was when David Bingham was coaching the Wildcats. I know they played in the late 90's. I would say at least 8 to 10 years as a guess. I agree that would be a super finals. What would the over/under be on that matchup? I would say about 160 points.

In the '02-'03 season District @ Whitley, I think. It was my son's Junior year....

You know I got to thinking there is no way Coach Jones has been the girls coach at LC for 31 years unless he started at about the age of 15 or 16 he cant be more than 45 or 46 years old. IMO LC and Corbin need to play home and home, huge gate, less than 10 min. travel time for either team, fans would love it. In the old days they played at least once each year.

Birddog coached me in football in 87' so how old is he?

Coach Jones will be 49 this year,he started coaching his first year out of high school .He has been coaching 31 years,but not girl's basketball for 31 years.
