Cumberland vs. Knox Central

Featured Replies

KC will be favored, but this is a dangerous game for the Panthers.

It reminds me of the 2003 tourney @ Cawood.

Cawood was one of the favorites... they opened up with Rockcastle County. Rock (like Cumberland this season) had some late season struggles, but that night they took down the Trojans in the opening round... on their home floor.

You're talking about the 2005 tournament. Cawood did not make the post season in 2003 - they got beat by Evarts in the opening round of the district.

Knox Central should control this game from the tip. They are a much more physical and athletic team overall than Cumberland. Central will probably be nervous from the start, but after they get all the nerves out, they should control this game.

Knox Central 66-61.

My head tells me to go with KC, but it also tells me this was not the best team for KC to draw to open the tourney. LC played right with KC friday, and Cumberland has more talent than us, so I think I'm going with the upset.

Skins live to play another night by 3.

I would really like to see Cumberland win this game; but I think Knox will come through on their home court. Good luck Skins!!!

It will be a a team with great guard play vs. a team with great post play. Central has an advantage in the backcourt yet Cumberland has an advantage down low with Johnson and Wilson. The low post advantage that Cumberland has is more decisive than the backcourt advantage that Knox has. With that said, the homecourt may even things out. Also Cumberland's game plan will have a huge say in this games outcome. Will Coach Edwards and Akal keep Desmond Johnson in the post where they dominate when they are or will they hang around on the perimeter like they have in games where Cumberland hasn't had much success.

Having Johnson and Wilson down low will be a huge plus because Cody Miller is very aggressive on the boards. A lot of teams just concede the rebound to Miller. With two board hungry guys like Johnson and Wilson, if they hold their ground, they could cause Miller to get a lot of over the back fouls.

Brock Leisge is one of the better point guards in the region when he lets the game come to him. At times he is can get out of his comfort zone and try to do too much. I know people say play the game like it is your last (in Cumberland's case very last). If it were up to me, I'd have them relaxed and just have them play their game. There is no need for extra pressure. If they play their game which is hard nosed D and an inside first outside second offense, they will win.

Should be a very good game.

As someone has eluded to Johnson and Wilson will have to carry the skins. Is the older Hogue back? If so I give them a very good chance b/c he will defend Miller and take some of the ball handling form Leisge which will help C'land. KC is a very loose and aggressive team sometimes those teams that play that way struggle in Tournment play.

Yeah I think Wazzo Sports is going to be there

Coaches voted NO to Wazoo............you will have to watch in person!!!
