That is very suprising. I can't remember Breathitt having very few if any drops the week before. They made some of the best catches you will ever see and caught anything close. I listened to the game and it really sounded like the fumble at the end of the 1st half and then another one too start the second both deep in their own territory really deflated Breathitt. To Belfry's credit they took advantage of them and really never let up.

No, nobody said that. What was said is that Belfry's offense was not way above the rest. On the other hand that defense is special. If you want to quote somebody at least get it right.

They are no joke. If they beat PT. I think that game is still up in the air. Belfry could lose that game but I doubt it. If they keep up the pressure like they have I don't see them getting beat.

Yep. One of the best defenses in the state no matter which class. Belfry kept up the pressure and a young but talented Breathitt team was overwhelmed by turnovers and physical play. Belfry will be the 3A state champs.

They came back from two TDs last week. But another sloppy turnover sure doesn't help. That is two fumbles deep in their own territory on the last two possessions.

Defense sets up the offense. Breathitt cannot afford unforced turnovers.

I agree. I think the Football and Basketball preview, although still better than most other previews that are out there, have gotten less in depth than in the past.

No it doesn't. Hasn't for a long time now. Maybe even back in the 20's when the Tomcats were the only big school around.

You know I looked at it again and I just don't know. It just seems to be of lesser quality. Maybe its the format or the print, I don't know. But I thought the last few years it just seems like they keep cutting it back. It used to be 3-4 pages on every team. Now it is 1-2.

No, the only defense in 3A that is comparable to that one is Belfry's defense.

Let me rephrase. Maybe I could state it better. I said the offense is not special. I stand by that. I never said unimpressive or average or anything negative. Fact is, as I stated before, I do not think that Belfry's offense is any better than Breathitt County's or Russell's or Mason County's. I think they are very good but not heads and tails above the rest. That is what I meant by not special. An offense that can carry you and just overwhelm opponents. Belfry had that in Jones and Howard and Russell had that in Gross and Clark. None have that kind of firepower this year. Defense is what is special about this team. Defense is what is going to get them another state title. EKUalum05 I have not forgotten the semifinal game from 05. In that game Maynard was the man and May was a compliment. He did a fantastic job. Last year he ran into a buzzsaw of a defense that had his number. I think he is very good.

Honestly I thought both teams played well last week in that one. Russell made very few mistakes as well. Breathitt only had one turnover and 3 penalties. Its hard to play much more mistake free than that. As for the redzone chances. That offense gets easier to defend the closer you get to the goal line.

That is not meant as a slam against them. I know what they had comming back and compared to some of the other offenses in 3A I don't consider them far and away above the rest. Now on defense thats different. I think this defense is very special and that is what will win this game and the next one.
