The Bulldogs and the long awaited hardware will be leaving Lexington at 10am. They will be taking the 12th Street exit and will have a police escort through the city and should arrive on campus by 11:30. This Bulldog is sending an invite to any 9th Region fan to come out and help us welcome them home. WAY TO GO BULLDOGS !:dancingpa

Just got in from the game with the kids, its 3am and we are all still too wired to sleep. The Bulldogs have defended all that has been posted about them. Each team played a terrific, heart stopping game but the Bulldogs did what they have been doing best, winning games. From a Holmes Alumni who has been to almost every game this season, this was one game that I will never forget. Thanks to all the other 9th Region fans who cheered for us to bring it home! If anyone knows what time the bus pulls into campus (Sunday) please post so we can be there to welcome them home.

Since this is a ticket thread, I did find out last night that when you go to purchase tickets for the next game, there is a limit of 4. I needed a total of 9 for the group that we are with. With the limit and the need for several people to get tickets for the same group, we are now spread out 4-6 rows apart with one person stuck sitting by themselves. We are hoping we can swap some seats once we get there. We would swap the lower seats and sit higher if we can sit together. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions?

There is suppose to be but the ticket window, at least for the Holmes fans, can't seem to get us in the right cheer section. We have had to move for both games because they put us at the opposite end of where our team and cheerleaders were. This has not been a problem thus far as there has been plenty of seats and we could easily pick up and move. Tuesday night might create a problem for those fans that want to cheer together.

I too don't want to dis a student section and thanks for the kudos for the Holmes section, but.....the cheer section is mostly parents and teachers that sadly outnumber the students (we do try and bring some spirit to the gym). Let's hope more students can and will show up on Tuesday to cheer the Bulldog's on. If you are a Bulldog fan, young or old, we need you in the Dawg Pound this Tuesday. Come join us!!!

That's because I think when we say we want tickets for the "Holmes" section, they think we mean "home" team. :idunno: They had the cheer section again on the opposite side of where we should have been. Like the other night we packed up and moved to the other end.

I attended the 8pm last night and have been to several other events at the BOK. It is a great facility and it is wonderful that the players have been given this opportunity. I was dissapointed in some of the planning. I bring several students and also sit with a number of adults, generally in the cheer section (since our cheer section is generally lacking). Our tickets were in the general seating section with the Ryle cheer section and both bands. That was not so much of an issue as there weren't many students. However, when our cheerleaders came in they were made to go to the far other end of the court:idunno: which did not make sense. With 3 minutes left before the start of the game, we packed up and headed to the other end to be with the cheerleaders (which then left our band at the other end):irked:. Seemed like some poor planning with this detail. I also was under the impression that we could purchase tickets for the next round of games right after our game. With money in hand, we quickly discovered that the tickets windows were locked up tight. Other folks had the same impression. Guess we will have to head over earlier than planned on Sunday and hope for no lines.

One of our adults from our group of supporters went today to get tickets for both the adults and a number of students. For every game we sit together to cheer the Bulldogs on, usually with the other adults and what few students cheer. The person selling the tickets at BOK informed us that adults could not purchase tickets in the cheering section.:confused: :irked:

I got confirmation a bit earlier from our Athletic Office. The schools will NOT have tickets to sell. The BOK can let you know which section is the assigned section for your school. We plan to get our tickets tomorrow after the kids get out of school. GO DOGS!!!

As a Holmes Alumni, I am saddened for the lack of school spirit at the games. There are plenty of students who attend the game, but it seems more of a social gathering. There are a few teachers trying to get the "Dawg Pound" back in commission. I hope we see it soon.

I heard it would be Sunday at 9am.

USA Today ranks 10 teams in each US Region. Mason Co. comes in at number 8. Holmes comes in at number 10. Congrats to these 2 teams for making it into the top 40 across the US. Moot point. The reference was for anyone who does this on a routine basis, and they know who they are. I was referring to the Holmes player, Breaon Avery, who won this award. Nothing negative was meant toward any other player or team.

It's already been stated, but worth saying again...what an awesome sight to see so many from Northern Ky rooting for the Bulldogs. As an alum, and a resident of Covington, I know first hand the diversity that is within the walls of our Covington public schools. I know the issues our kids deal with every day...things most of us can't even comprehend. To see a community back these boys up, from Highlands, Cov Cath, Holy Cross, our "rivals" during regular season, has to be an overwhelming feeling for them. So often Holmes is viewed as the school with no class, not so smart students, poor, poverty stricken students.....it sickens me to sit at a ball game and hear fans across the floor ridicule our students for situations that are often out of their control. Holmes and Covington is so often written about for the negative, and not often enough about what our students do accomplish. Our students do make good grades, they do graduate, they do succeed! But at the Sweet 16, the Holmes Bulldogs were representing all those in Northern KY, and they did so with grace, dignity and maturity. They made us all proud, and I hope changed many views of the Covington community and our students. Perhaps this coming season, we will no longer hear chants about "who's your daddy" or "we go to college" or singing the ABC song, because you think we don't know it. We have class, our students graduates, and many with honors...bottom line... we have great students! Maybe this year, the Holmes students will be greeted with a bit more respect...here's hoping right? Congrats to the Bulldogs, and thanks for showing others who we really are! And congrats to Mason County. You both made the championship game one of the best I've ever seen. And to have 2 teams from NKY....how great is that? And thanks to all who supported the Bulldogs, especially those who are not Bulldogs 24/7. Hats off to you.....We thank you!!

Holmes played with such dignity and respect....we are all very proud of their accomplishments this season. I too have witnessed the "I" team from the Bulldogs in the past, and as a fan, it is very frustrating to see a team break down during a game. The 07-08 Bulldogs must have listened and learned from the past. They worked as a team, won as a team, and are the runner up in the state. Congratulations to the Holmes Bulldogs, and thanks for a great season! I look forward to the coming years!

Thank, Eta Rho. I see you are a Highlands fan but support our school. It was really nice to be at Rupp and see so many other 9th Region schools there to support the team. I was at the final game 30 years ago and have supported the program since. I really hoped this would be our year. For those that can't seem to admit the success of our program and dwell on past years, just watch us over the next couple of years. Maybe you will change your mind and give credit where credit is due. We made the semi-finals last year, one step further to the finals this year.....we have just one more step to go.

I am a Holmes Alumni, born and raised in Covington. I have a successful career and a wonderful family. I have a child who graduated with honors from Holmes and currently a junior in college, my other child is a student at Holmes in advanced classes and in the top 10 of the class. So, for those out there that like to bash "Covington" and bash "Holmes", I say more power to you. We have our issues, as do many other communities, but we have a school with wonderful programs and opportunities. We are the State Runner Up and we are extremely proud of what our team has accomplished this year. They fought the fight but the better team won. For those that bash our players, take a look at which player won the Sweet Sixteen "Best Sportsmanship". Not sure of the accuracy, so if someone can confirm....I was told that Holmes had the best 2008 record with only 3 losses.
