I understand and am also interested to see what was meant by that comment.

I am reading it that Russell does not have home field advantage and that Russell waters the field to give them some sort of unfair advantage. I have never seen a fire truck there watering the field in my many years of being associated with the football program.

If I recall correctly (it was many years ago for a JV game) the field is behind the school and their was plenty of visitor seating. Maybe some of the Mason Co faithful can correct me if need be.

I think that this is going to be the toughest test for both teams so far this year. Hope everyone comes out of the game uninjured.

I certainly hope that it doesn't take internet trash talk to get them fired up.

I don't know that you could call Russell's schedule overly tough. Lewis, Ashland, Greenup, Boyd, Lawrence are pretty down this year. Mason and Simon Kenton will probably be the toughest games the Devils will have. West, East and Raceland are not to bad this year. But over all the schedule looks pretty weak to me. Russell's opponents records are a combined 25-46 as of now. Their last 3 opponents are a combined 14-7 so there is the tough part of the schedule.

Why not? East and West are not playing to bad, they have a couple of wins and are doing pretty well in their district. Possibly 3rd and 4th spot. What has Ashland done to deserve any better?

It's the Daily Independent super 7. A stupid poll for discussion. Obviously it does it's job and stirs up some hard feelings and such. But I put as much stock in it as I do any other poll or suggestion that people come up with. NONE

Yep that is something that the people of Russell and Flatwoods are very proud of and rightfully so.

The funny part about this comment is that I was over at the school today talking to one of the coaches and he said that the team does not even know how good they are. That they come out almost afraid to make their presence known. I hope they come out of that shell soon.

Sometimes there is more to it than winning a game. He is supposed to be teaching the game, teamwork, discipline, getting along well with others...etc. Sounds like some behavior issues that he is dealing with in his own way.

I would assume that the point he is trying to make is that he supports the coaches decision to set the kids out. You say they should have been punished and it sounds like that is exactly what the coach did. What are we teaching the kids if we allow them to act up and still get to play the game. All kids need to be held responsible for their actions and not babied just to try to win a game. Give someone that shows up for practice, gives their best to the team and does not cause all of the trouble and drama a chance to show what they can do. As for using Coach Sammons I think we have a pretty decent staff that can get the job done by themselves.

Either way those were impressive numbers.:thumb:

Short answer. They just don't have that killer instinct this year. Playing a bit to conservative. They have let teams get into games that they never should have been in. Letting almost every team score first. Things of that nature. By average I mean there is no clear advantage over all of the teams.
