This is a little surprising. Expected a wider margin than this. With the exception of LCA maybe this district is more competitive than I thought.

I had a feeling that this one would be tougher than most thought. Paris I believe has had some kids leave and has new coach this season. That always takes some adjustments. Imo Paris will get better each week.

 

LCA is a clear cut favorite in this district but jmo is that after LCA the district is more competitve. I would say that Raceland is next in line behind LCA but anyone is capable of beating the other. Every team has to "bring it" each time out.

 

Next week tha Rams step out of district play and take on Class A Paintsville in Paintsville. I am sure that coach "Hoof" wil be grading film tonight and concentrating on the Tigers starting tommorrow.

Much lower scoring game than was expected.

Paris and Raceland was a tight game up to the half.

Paris held Raceland off from running up the score, they were forced to kick a fg.

Tiion Thomas ran a (about) 70 yard td for Paris- He was just a orange/black blurr - untouched.

Travis Angel, Jeremy Shupe had big night on Defense.

 

I can't remember the specific on Raceland, but I believe it was #20, that had some really nice hard runs.

yes Oldrambler Paris will get better. We have a very young QB, a big sophmore class.

And Paris is recovering from multiple injuries (key players).

Raceland had several opportunities to blow this game wide open. Raceland led 15-0 at the half. The Rams gave up one long run, had a touchdown called back, and kneel on the ball at the five the last 2 minutes of the game. Hoof is a class act and was not trying to push in another score in the last 2:00 minutes withthe game decided. Boyles was also picked off in the endzone, and Raceland missed 2 PAT's and a FG. Rams played a little sloppy and Paris has some very good skill guys. Rams also played without 2 lineman the make a difference. It was a good district win for the Rams on the road 2 hours from home. The Raceland coaches will get to work and clean some things up don't worry! Raceland controlled this game. I'd say Paris had negative yards for the game, and probably about 3 first downs. This was not the Rams best game, but it was a district win on the road, and I'd say anyone who has ever been involved in sports would say they would rather win ugly than lose pretty! The score doesn't indictate how much Raceland controlled the game!

Of course LCA is the best they have the best facilities, most money, and best athletes they should be the best. As for Raceland being 2nd I am sure that's how it will fall with fairview 3rd and nicholas 4th. It will set up a great first round matchup, I was at the first Fairview/Raceland game and it was a great ballgame, even though a lot of turnovers decided that game.

Good district win for Raceland. Paris played hard and will get better, they never gave up. I really like the intensity of the new coach, he seems to be a very qualified and energetic coach. You do not want to compare scores from this game, Raceland was doing a lot of preparation for other opponents in this game.

Good post Ram. I 100% agree on Coach Vanderhoof being a class act, great move on his part in "taking a knee" and "not running it up". A district win is a district win and any district win on the road we will take :thumb:. Also you are so right about winning ugly, an "ugly" win is still a win so I don't think there is a such thing as an ugly win. A win is a win.

 

Raceland has played most of this season less than 100% due to injuries, made no excuses and still has pounded out a winning record so far. All I can say is that this will make this team even stronger and when and if we do get everyone back and go at ful strength -----Look Out, this team has not come close to it's potential yet .

Uh.....I believe that is what I had said (thanks for agreeing with me ) without the mention of the other stuff. LCA is the top team in our district bc of their play on the field ;)and I am not into making excuses like money and facilities and things that we can't contol.

As for turnovers a factor in that other game - that is no breaking news scoop, imo turnovers come into play in every game and are one factor in determining an outcome.

Very true Raceland is average like most teams in the area, LCA is the best and will continue to be.
