I can agree with you, to a certain extent. With your well thought out and complete explanation. But, yahoo and some others have a way of stating some truth in a deliberate and condescending manner. I, as well as you, can say a team has a problem or lost or is not as good as some one else - doing it in a constructive manner. But, when you state things in a degrading manner, in an obvious attempt to down play a teams ability, that is just stirring the pot.

 

Now, for Raceland's level of play. Raceland is better then some people would ever admit. To start with the two games Raceland has lost come without both RB's and all three LB's. And as for people comparing scores, you are fooling yourself. Raceland is probably not going to score 40 points this year, when Raceland is winning by 14 or more, the coaching staff starts working on different things, not trying to score a whole lot more - different combinations, and schemes.

 

As for this area versus the rest of the state. Raceland, as well as several other teams, have had some very good teams, but lost to the eventual state champ in the first two rounds of the playoffs. With the new allignment you will see a lot of teams from this district going deep in the playoffs, maybe not this year, but you will see it. Most people will say, that this district is all of a sudden doing well, but the fact is that this district has always been good, just facing the best team in the state early in the playoffs.

Raceland had several opportunities to blow this game wide open. Raceland led 15-0 at the half. The Rams gave up one long run, had a touchdown called back, and kneel on the ball at the five the last 2 minutes of the game. Hoof is a class act and was not trying to push in another score in the last 2:00 minutes withthe game decided. Boyles was also picked off in the endzone, and Raceland missed 2 PAT's and a FG. Rams played a little sloppy and Paris has some very good skill guys. Rams also played without 2 lineman the make a difference. It was a good district win for the Rams on the road 2 hours from home. The Raceland coaches will get to work and clean some things up don't worry! Raceland controlled this game. I'd say Paris had negative yards for the game, and probably about 3 first downs. This was not the Rams best game, but it was a district win on the road, and I'd say anyone who has ever been involved in sports would say they would rather win ugly than lose pretty! The score doesn't indictate how much Raceland controlled the game!

Two completly different teams, can't compare years you should know that being a football guy like yourself, geez man watch the game no team around here is great other than Russell. All teams can beat each other around here including your Rams getting beat by East Carter, just like turnovers are part of the game, injuries are too. I am done talking about this topic, support the team you want to support. I am entitled to my opinion just like yourself. Good luck to the Rams against Paintsville this week.:fire:

 

I wouldn't consider Russell as great this year. Average/slightly above average but getting the job done game by game.

I don't mind you chiming in, Russell was brought up. I just don't understand a characterization such as: Average. Average in what? Average compared to who? Many people may say that a team is average, but I'm not sure what that means. Average to every other team in the state, average to every other team in your class in the state, average to all the teams in your district? When the comment was made it was an obvious dig. But if you are serious, what does that mean? I think Russell is above average in the area, I think Russell is, more then likely, above average in their class. Russell is probably not above average in the entire state. But, to say that a team is average is an open ended characteristic.

If I remember correctly seemed to be a lot of holding calls. Our D-ends, were being held a lot from my observation.

 

I thought both teams were hitting hard I saw several helmets fly off during the game.

Raceland's O did control the clock- Paris' O seemed to be having difficulties getting it going. Young QB, he'll adjust. But when they do click again, ones will get to see the wheels fly!

 

And I agree with you all about the coaching. Raceland coaches show class.

Paris' coach is very intense. Something Paris hasn't seen in awhile.

Short answer. They just don't have that killer instinct this year. Playing a bit to conservative. They have let teams get into games that they never should have been in. Raceland was penalized 14 times for 110 yards and Paris was penalized 11 times for 81 yards!
