  1. Corbin 2001 Derek Marlow-Coastal Carolina Billy Cain-Marshall (bad ending there) Jarrod Lawson-Kentucky Chaz Stradley-WEstern Kentucky Isaac Mills-Possible Vanderbilt, another bad ending to that story
  2. Actually with great form and some good leg strength and commitment to work, squatting 450-500 in HS isnot only capable but happens on many teams. In HS we had several players squatting well over 450 including a running back squatting 500 (great genetics, dad played in NFL) and a lineman hitting the 550 range. Its actually ALL about proper form.:thumb:
  3. Corbin will be better and stronger up front, clint's gonna put the ball where he wants it out there, but without a go to guy like Blackwood the year before, its going to be harder than people think. THese skilled players have potential, but from personal experience with playing with him, Blackwood is a great athlete that many pale in comparison to on the current roster. I'm curious to see how Blake Freeman plays next year as he was running very towards the end of the season. Crawford could be that go to guy, he's certainly athletic enough to fill a void in this offense, but to say that this team is better than the past 6 or 7 years teams is a little mislead, they're not as strong or as athletic but I think they have the heart to do good things.
  4. I just think 6 classes are too many for kentucky........texas only has 5A (but their highest division is divided in too I think) and they have 20 million poeple...we have what, 6 million? they have 6 million STUDENTS
  5. Good advice blackshirts....just make sure you practice what you preach.
  6. Corbin's Eric Blackwood is a heck of an athlete man.....he needs some more recognition. I know him to, we went to school together, great guy. He went to a combine in florida and smoked almost everyone speedwise.
  7. 6 classes is good, but i think 5 would be best......ky has a small population, 6 classes would be too many
  8. Your information is incorrect and WELL-SPINNED.....to even suggest that a GA is responsible for an All-American shows you know nothing about college football...I'll let the rest go cause its obvious you are clueless....I have not idea who this guy is, I just did some digging and found out he had coached at a mediocre program in high school, a mediocre program in college and thought it odd that he was at one job for a heartbeat and a half (and if you are a FOOTBALL COACH a 1aa FOOTBALL GA job is MUCH better than a IA S&C job only lifting weights, regardless of who you are monitoring in the weight room). Also i wasn't attacking Combs....I did what everyone else does....looked up some facts, asked some questions and presented information from my point of view. I just read a post that said "he's ready" and in my opinion guys from losing programs are not ready to be a head coach.....
  9. I did check....and rechecked once i read your post to learn who this guy was.....he was at EKU very briefly, was a GA and NOT a position coach (I've heard that he left on very BAD terms) and probably just ran scout teams or something, and S&C GA at UK (probably didn't work with football, the real S&C coaches do football and basketball...these guys usually do like women's soccer or another minor sport). He coached at Nelson last year, offensive coordinator I think, they averaged 9 points a game and were SHUTOUT 3 times...... You're right.....I'm surprised more people are not beating down his door.......3 shutouts, thats great if you are a DEFENSIVE coordinator.... but, at least his wife is hot.... and if CORBIN went 1-9......the coach would be changed. The only place where your record doesn't matter is that sorry year by year doormat football program in lexington at UK...oh wait, you said he worked for them!
  10. How does being an assistatn at 1-9 nelson county make you "ready" for a head coaching job?
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you could possibly consider South to be one of the most talented teams in the nation on their A game...and Corbin is a very young team, a team that shows some promise in the future, but still a very young team. I think Crawford will be the most talented player on the floor his senior year compared to the stars of SL in their SR year, but thats not the scenario, he's playing them as a freshmen. I think Crawford will have 20+ but South is jsut too powerful for Corbin right now.... South 78 Corbin 52
  12. Well I guess I'll be in the Corbin minority and say GREAT JOB to South Laurel, I really would have liked to see them pull that one out and I think they made us proud as a state and I'm proud to be a tri county native.
  13. Corbin is the best by far....all the tradition and always a big crowd, fireworks, etc....they go all out
  14. That's a pretty ridiculous statement after watching some teams that couldn't hold a candle (or 21 points) to a Saint X or Trinity. I watched these state championships and if you expect me to believe that TN is miles ahead of KY you have to be insane. I saw DEFENSIVE TACKLES in a FIVE A state championship game weighing no more than 190 pounds. I saw some very good football players, but no amazing athletes like Vic Anderson or great QBs that could even compare to Justin Burke. The world around TN and KY have far superior football in Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, etc., but as far as the two border buddies, theres not too much difference.
  15. Spread by far. Wing T is outdated but still difficult to defend. The misdirection and reverses are dictated by the motion and arc motions. Spread offense is available to run the football with an option or straight rushing. As well, its the most available set to pass out of and makes you change your ENTIRE defensive philosophy. Spread teams can make a 4-4 base defensive team and turn them into a 3-3-5 stack and sending coverages everywhere. Spread by far makes you prepare far greater as well in terms of blitz packages, zone coverages, and shifting defenses. Overall, the spread offense is my favorite offense by far and is head and shoulders above other offenses.
  16. Owensboro Catholic for sure, Belfry is not as stong as they once were, nor is the Eastern side of the state at all for that matter, for Owensboro Catholic to even come out of that side of the state laden with D-1 talent like it usually is speaks volumes for a team replacing a division 1 quarterback in Barnard. Russell always has a pretty good defense, but from playing against this offense one year ago, I don't think they're fast enough to handle how many angles Owesnboro Catholic can attack you from....inside screens, WR screens, crossing routes, draws, and fades in NO specific order, this offense is nearly impossible to stop at the HS level, especially on turf. O'cath 42 Russell 14
  17. There are ALOT of bodies that would be great football players that stick to one sport other than football. IMO Corbin would have the best offense in their class last year if basketball stars Jordan Noble and Andrew Parks would have been wide receivers, making that three receivers over 6'4 and Blackwood as the 4th...as well, Blake Freeman, the current RB at Corbin had an older brother that was bigger, stronger, and faster than him that stuck with TENNIS  Barrett would have made a great athletic fullback as he was probly 6'0, 220 and a very athletic kid...but I'm sure every school has problems like these.
  18. I had a debate recently with a few people from Tennessee and I feel St. X would take this one, any one else's opinion?
  19. lynn camp played a real good game but it seems like they are missing something. i think if they had will stewart they would do a whole lot better in the season.the two linebackers they have and full back just cant fill his shoes
  20. I personally think that will stewart is one of the best running backs in the state today but he has had some bad luck. but he will be back next year to help corbin out
  21. If Tate was called for offensive pass interference there is no question that Blackwood should have been called for the same thing in the first half. Cashen was being rushed and had to throw the ball down the field and underthrew Tate and all Tate did was come back for the ball the same thing that Blackwood had done. Plus the only loss of down on a penalty is for intentional grounding, offensive pass interference is only a 15 yard penalty. If this call wasnt made the game would have probably turned out different, that was a horrible call and the officials were horrible. I dont know if anybody realized this but the referees originally placed the ball on the 15 yard line in the second overtime where it was supposed to be at the 10, and Corbin almost got to run the play. The Hounds played too good for the referees to make a bad call.
  22. Sure, he's a good football player, but best in the state , Will Fidler is ranked nationally, Justin Burke is committed to NC State, and several other players in the state are phenomenal D-1 athletes. As well, I think Jarrod Lawson and Quinten Henson were both superior running backs on their respective teams.
  23. I don't think DeSales can stop Cashen...the kid is amazing and he'll turn it on in this game... Corbin 42 Desales 28
  24. Corbin's three headed monster passing attack in Cashen-Blackwood-Tate are too much for the Commanders Corbin-35 WC-14
  25. Yeah according to his numbers you could leave him out but he is more to that team probably than any other quarterback is. When Cashen was out Corbin struggled offensively. Cashen had an excellent season as a freshman with a great supporting cast. This year it took a little bit because of new kids having to play different spots. Look the way the Hounds are playing now and a big contributor to that is Cashen
