If you say Listerman, I'd be shocked. Other than that, I can't name any former head coaches no longer coaching that anyone would approach especially if Draud isnt interested.
He's dealing with a death in the family right now. I haven't spoken to him. I thought the committee was suppose to select the candidates Wed or Thurs night do I figured we'd know who they are by today.
1) they will never interview that many coaches
2) tonight they will pick who they will interview
This is from the info given by the other poster. I find it hard to believe they will interview more than 5 applicants.
The problem is a culture of workouts are "optional". If you want to play Varsity football, workouts are expected. The same should be for basketball. Can't expect greatness when you accept mediocrity.
I shouldn't say why show up but rather it's hard to get motivated if the head coach isn't there. Today's kids see things as how does it benefit me rather than I can use this to get better.
This reminds me of what Niemi went through in his last year at Ryle. A certain kid got cut because of his attitude problems. Parents throw a fit, Niemi gets fast tracked into administration, Mullins becomes coach.
My money is on an outsider. Nothing against Key or other candidates but someone who isn't looking at Highlands with tainted eyes is best. Someone from Texas, Florida, or Ohio would be great.
