  1. Say what? Hey, GoRadio wasn't there... you can say whatever you want and he will never know any better.
  2. Congratulations, Laura. Your hard work has reaped rewards which are well deserved. Currently 2008 career points, 798 rebounds and 16.5 pts & 6.4 rebs per game in '06-'07:thumb:
  3. Queen: 13 pts,5 rebs Terry: 19 pts, 4 rebs Faulkner:4 pts, 3 rebs Hammonds:4 pts Friley: 3 pts, 4 rebs Gambill: 8 pts Day: 2 pts, 3 rebs Pope: 2 pts, 4 rebs Mays: 4 pts, 4 rebs In a game that saw the starters play only the 1st & 3rd quarters, the younger Lady Royals came in and did a fine job. It was also a pleasure to have the new Lady Eagles assistant come back to the gym in which she played so many fine ballgames herself.
  4. That's how it should be done...then and there!!:thumb: My prediction...she hits the mark at the 4:37 mark of the second quarter!!
  5. No need to qualify your statement. I don't think you will get much of an argument from most Lady Royal fans. I do, however, hope to see the Lady Royals go against Russell. Win or lose, it is always a very good basketball game.
  6. On Billman...:thumb: I've often thought a 3 man crew tends to think they have to blow their whistles more often...if only to justify the notion of a 3 man crew. They're supposed to see more, so they better call more.
  7. "Old" Shooter, you should know that sitting in a chair and catching only the balls that come through the net is not much of a work out. Don't expect to see Lil' Bubba anytime soon.
  8. They be playin' or not be playin'? Which be it?
  9. See the following from the NCAA Statisticians Manual: An FGA is not charged if a shot is taken near the expiration of time for a period or for the shot clock, is not made, and it is the statistician’s opinion that the shot was a desperation shot and not a reasonable attempt to make a field goal. One or more of the following factors should exist in order to classify a shot as a desperation shot. The shooter: (1) Is outside the normal shooting range.A shot from just beyond the three-point line would usually be considered in normal shooting range while a shot at or beyond the division line would be outside normal shooting range. (2) Uses an abnormal shooting motion, such as an overhand baseball toss. (3) Rushes or hurries the shot to beat the expiration of time. A shot could be considered rushed or hurried if the shooter tries to control and shoot the ball in the same motion with not enough time to get into a normal shooting position (squared up to the basket).
  10. Let's see...how do I admit my prejudice and yet maintain some objectivity? How about...using a single game performance for either player is probably not the best measuring stick. As far as who is the "better" player...not sure one can say. Look at them...they are so similar in body style, skills, etc...one would simply have to say that both have had wonderful high school careers and have tremendous potential at the next level. One has to, however, credit Emily for a high school career which will see her leave, Lord willing, as the all-time leading scorer as well as the all-time leading rebounder in the 16th region's history. I would hope that you would not discount that feat. I'm quite biased in my opionion with regard to Emily, but have always said that Fortman (as well as Okoro) are grossly underrated by coaches and writers throughout the state. It is one of the reasons that I have more and more become, not only a Lady Royal fan, but a fan of the 16th Region relative to the rest of the state. Here's hoping we get to see Emily and Jessica compete against one another in Morehead.
  11. As much as I would enjoy the fellowship and spirited conversation with you and Big Bubba...I do not want to be between the two of you when food is around. And yes, you caught me listening. It was worth fighting with those cheap earphones last night. Good job...to both of you.:thumb: And speaking of the barbershop, how much did you pay that guy that got hold of you?!!
  12. Queen:18 pts, 6/12 (includes 1/1 3ptr), 5/7 free throws, 13 rebs, Terry: 11 pts, 3/10 (includes 2/3 3 ptrs), 3/5 free throws, 6 rebs, Faulkner: 16 pts, 7/18, 2/5 free throws, 2 rebs, 6 asts Adkins: 4 pts, 2/2 Dunden: 2 pts, 1/4, 4 rebs Friley, Gambill: 1 reb ea 15 turnovers 4 Team Rebs Clearly one of those "ugly" games, with coaches and fans on both sides upset over calls and no-calls. Give credit to East Carter for not quitting when they were down early and to the Lady Royals for having an answer when EC made runs at them. Now that I've done my part, I yield the floor so that Big Bubba and GoRadio can resume their most artful and tasteful slugfest...soon to become a food fest at a local eatery somewhere between Ashland and Olive Hill.
  13. . Nice job. The Lady Rams are clearly better than what folks saw out of them in Richmond. Congratulations. Congratulations also to Greenup's Sara Sexton.
  14. You're welcome...and glad you reminded me to say...all photos, courtesy ADI and staff photographer, John Flavel...who did a wonderful job of photojournalism while following the Lady Royals through the post season last year. He was kind enough to give me copies of his work and permission to use them.
  15. Can't say that I agree with your prediction, but here's a couple of pics of a fine coach posted with best wishes for a full recovery.
  16. All I've heard, Frances, is what the ADI reported...that he may be months trying to recover from a bad case of Epididymitis.
  17. The Lady Royals had only six home games scheduled last year, one of which had to be cancelled. It is not so much the lack of home games this year, but that there are so few games remaining on the schedule that will hurt the team as they prepare for post season play.
  18. ...and it is inconsistently "allowed," with respect to players and teams. We've learned to live with it.
  19. They are scheduled to play later this season. A previous post, now deleted, included a link to a site that was selling pictures. What you've done is fine...and this is a nice thread.
