10th Region is at 6pm I believe they are cutting down the nets. Then putting new ones up for the 9th Region. The 9th Region game is scheduled to start at 8:30. Two and a half hours between games should be plenty of time.

I hope he does stay around for one more year. This team he has coming back seemed like a very hard working group of young men. And from what I hear for the most part basketball is their primary sport, except for maybe Grubbs and 1 or 2 others. Willie is one of the most respected coaches in the state and even when I played against him I knew how good of coach he was.

Billy Belichick, I mean Billy Hicks is holding this injury report close to his chest.

Can someone close to these programs update me on the best players, there uniform numbers and what to watch from them? Im haven't seen either of these teams this year and plan on attending.

I didn't think Gabbard played very well against Highlands. I've seen him look a lot better than he did on Sunday. But he'll be fine. I think Holmes has to get up and down the floor, run Boone as much as possible. If I recall correctly Andy Earls was guarding Pittman in the first game a lot. Before Elijah got hurt, Earls in the post was keeping Pittman on the outside. This hurt Holmes in my opinion.

I did get that feeling that Ricardo could have just taken over when he wanted to. I don't know if Henley is waiting on using some better schemes and pressing until the Regional Finals or the State Tourny, but it seems that he still has the chain on this team. I feel like they could just bust out at any minute and dominate a game by 20 or so, but they haven't done that in quite some time. Even before the last Boone game that wasn't the case. The defense has improved, but its not where it was at this time last year due to the loss of "the erasor".

I have an unbiased look at the call. No way that should have been intentional. It was a hustle a play by the NCC players. Pittman was slowing up on the play because the outlet pass wasn't thrown far enough in front of him. Once he slowed up coming back to the ball it allowed the "full speed" NCC guys to collide with Pittman as he finally gathered the ball and tried to go up and dunk it. No way that it was intentional. I don't think Pittman ever thought it was intentional. It was bad timing and switched the momentum some, but I don't think it was the reason that Holmes won today...... Also why doesn't Holmes press? No way NCC could have handled a full court press of the bulldogs.

I asked the same thing after the game. But it was almost like St. Henry got down too far too quick to get into that zone.

I think there will be pretty good interest. Walton has probably the best 7th grade team in the state. They have a lot of talent in the underclassmen. Danny Trame would be a good fit, but I don't know his ties there. I would think going young would be the way to go.

Seems like I'm reading about a lot of complaining about the refs. I sat in the boone section, on accident and listened to nothing but complaining about the officials. I truthfully thought they let the kids play. It was a physical game that the 9th region officials don't let happen as much. But overal I thought the refs from the 16th were very consistant on both ends. There were a handful of questionable calls, but there would have been also if we had 9th officials. After watching both games last night, I think I was satisfied with both officiating crews. Could have been a lot worse......In the Boone the game. It came down to Beechwood stopped making shots. They were in the entire game because they WERE making shots.

Some notes from the game: 1.St. Henry should hold there heads up. It was a long difficult season. But you can always look back and say you are the new 34th District Champs. Good Luck to all 8 seniors, it was fun watching you guys over the years. 2. Grubbs played very well. His size and touch could take the Birds a long way. Also it was impressive to see when the Crusaders put him on the line, he made those free throws too. 3. Highlands is going to be a very very tough team next year. Scary to think they have ZERO seniors. 4. I sat in the Boone section for the 1st game and the St. Henry section for the 2nd game. I heard a lot of complaining about the refs, especially in the first game. But then again I seemed to stick my self with fans that didn't have a clue. WAS IT ME OR WERE THEY ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOD LAST NIGHT? 5. Was it too far of a drive for the Highlands student body? 6. I really enjoy watching Mr. Lowther play the game. He really gives 110% and handles the ball as well as anyone I've seen in the pat 5 years. Also he has a decent shot that teams have to worry about. 7. Joey Swikert has been fun to watch over the past few years. He transferred to St. Henry after leaving New Orleans. He started on JV but proved quickly that his speed, defense, and work ethic make him one of the best defenders the CRU has had in some time. 8. I wish we could have watch Scott Volz play for 4 years. He really is a talented player. Good luck with baseball Scottie. 9. Its really fun to watch the two best coaches in the 9th region go at it. They work the officials with class and coach their teams very well. Willie really knows how to teach man to man defense. 10. From my last point, HIGHLANDS plays some of the best Man to Man defense I've seen all year. They play up on you, they cut off the lanes to the basket, they take charges, they keep there hands on you (but not illegally like most fans think). It won't be there offense that takes them far the next two years, its going to be the way they play on the defensive end.

Very true. IHM, St. Paul, and St. Henry grade schools send a handful of kids that are very good athletes to CovCath every year. Also the feeder programs for St. Henry are mostly smaller schools with the exception of IHM which keeps growing. St. Henry is still an "A" school. Most classes graduate under 130 students. But I can agree, they get a nice amount of talent for how small they are.

Cameron Speed-Best player on the floor. Very good free throw shooter and has a good outside game. Very quick and is the MVP of this team. Dave Zumdick-Inside outside threat. Has a nice midrange game and is a good rebounder. Best post player St. Henry has. Joey Swikert-Best defender for the Cru. He is very quick, can shoot the 3pter and ads mental toughness to this team. Has to stay out of foul trouble, but how hard he plays its hard fo him to do. He's a true team leader. Benny Bessler-Him and Kowolonek are going to be the most athletic kids on the floor. Benny plays at warp speed and has a a motor that no one else in this game will have. Benny also plays so hard he can have trouble with foul trouble and turnovers. A very good spark for the Crusaders. Ryan Anderson-A pleasant surprise for Faust this year. He stepped in as a junior and had a very nice season. A good defender and rebounder. Has a nice 3pt shot. Won Mr. Hustle Award for D-2 already this year. Jake Hils-A true point guard. Top 10 assist man in NKY his first year starting on varsity. Has to limit his turnovers in the post season. Not so much a scoring threat. Scotty Volz-Sat out his sophmore and junior seasons. He is the most talented player the Crusaders have, in my opinion. Plays 110% all the time. Has a good shot and is an agressive rebounder. Has to keep his head and play smart against a physical Highlands team. Craig Eisenmenger-Alan Beiting-Chris Dault-Kyle Cooper- All these guys come in to rebound and defend. Don't expect them to score more than 2 or 3 baskets combined. Eisenmenger is the best rebounder this team probably has due to his hops and length. He has been playing very well as of late so has Beiting.

I agree. He is so calm and scores off the dribble very well. Then he compliments his game with a nice shooting touch. He doesn't seem to force anything and thats why I think Boone is playing so well right now.

I think they will do a little of both. When they run they seem to be at there best in my opinion. They turn it over more but by keeping the pace at a fast one I think it gives them more weapons. It allows Bessler, Swikert, and Volz to get going in the scoring column much easier because they are so quick and athletic. My question is....how big is Highlands? I keep hearing of the size differnce. St. Henry isn't big but I don't remember the Birds being huge either.
