I noticed Region 3 now is Districts 5 and 8. So will it be like this every year?

Throwinglong, First welcome to BGP and I am a transplanted Kentuckian living in Madison County, OH (London). Also the Jonathan Alder school district not only covers Northern Madison, but also part of Union County as well, which Plain City is located in both counties. I can't think of any school district, Independent or County that overlays into another county in Kentucky.

Ohio has 88 counties. Yes 120 is slicing the pie alot.

Very Very excellent post. And if you don't care I would to add a little bit. Based on your square miles figures, I took it another futher. I calculated the number of schools per square mile. Ohio has a High School playing Football every 58 square miles whereas in Kentucky there is a High School playing Football every 198 square miles. I bring this up because where I am from in Lawrence County where there is only one High School and some kids have to ride a bus over an Hour and half going and coming from school. That is 3 hours a day on a bus. I know there have been alot of kids that didn't play football ,or any other sport ,because of the hardship of getting a ride home if they stayed for practice. The school doesn't provide transportation to these students for any extra curricular activities or any sports that require staying after school hours. Alot of schools in Kentucky have the same problem. And it goes back to the community chipping in and helping out. Ohio has that support for all sports. Where I live now in London, Ohio the High School here is a D-IV school in football in a town that has almost 10,000 people in it. There is a small private Catholic school in town but it only goes to the 8th grade. After that some kids go on to London but alot go to Bishop Ready in Columbus or Central Catholic in Springfield both of those schools are only 20 miles away. If you wondering where I am going OK here goes: Alot of these kids at St. Patricks here in London play soccer and they continue to do so when they go to these other High Schools. Transportation is not a problem. Parents take turns picking up or taking kids to practice which is also done for kids who decide to play football at these schools or any other sport. COMMUNITY SUPPORT.

All very good points and it all comes back to one thing. When Ohio has 4 times as many schools playing football that means there is more boys to choose from. Another thing is schools in Ohio put alot of money into Football including coaches so all kids from grade school up can be coached by more experienced coaches as they enter Junior High School and High School. Public schools in the area where I live (Columbus) are very competitive year in and year out against top Private schools. And those schools put alot of money into their football programs such as: Jonathan Alder, Hilliard Davidson, Upper Arlington, Olentangy, Kilbourne, Lancaster, Newark Grove City ; all put alot money into football and in return make alot off of Football. So is Ohio better than Kentucky? Yes but only because of more kids that play and more money, BUT!! If you took 200 some schools in Ohio that have the same enrollment as all of the Kentucky schools and play against each other it would be pretty even. It is the other 600 schools that play football in Ohio is the difference.

Well you haven't been to Louisa in a while. LC added a new track which no one is allowed on except cheerleaders. There are new bleachers on both sides of the field and no sidelines to stand around, you either sit or stand behind the fence which is outside of the new track. But still is loud just have to yell louder And the ref's have never came from WV , usually the same refs that would be at Henry R. Evans will be at Luke Varney. One thing for sure it is great to see Russell back on the schedule, I have seen some of the best High School games between these two teams in my life. I really hope I can make it back in for this one.

The Dawgs return several talented kids at key positions: QB, RB, WR, TE But they did lose a All-State Lineman in Nathan Carter, but have alot of underclassmen ready to step up. This year will be just the beginning of another outstanding run of outstanding seasons and playoff runs. They have tons of talent at the underclassmen levels and the coffers look very good all the way down to the 6th grade. Alot of people are excited about Bulldog Football in Louisa again and for good reason.

Looks really good. I didn't realize JC had soccer though or are they starting a team?

I found on the OHSAA website that Coal Grove will be Lawrence County's first opponent on Aug 24th at the Dawg Pound in Louisa. That will give them 10 games.

I agree with the 2 team playoff also and start the season a week later so that teams that border Ohio and West Virginia could teams from those states if they want too. JMO also, lol. This is the alignment for all the teams that will represent the eastern part of the state in the Championship. District-4-5- Bourbon County, Franklin County, Harrison County, Pendleton County District-4-6- Boyle County, East Jessamine, Lexington Catholic, West Jessamine District-4-7- Bell County, Knox Central, Madison Southern, McCreary Central, Rockcastle County District-4-8- Boyd County, Greenup County, Lawrence County, Rowan County

Has Lawrence County completed their schedule yet? The last I checked they only had 9 games.

I just got back from Vacation and got an email from my cousin saying Lawrence County won a 10 team 7 on 7 passing tourney at Greenup County. Plus also heard that Russell is back on the Lawrence County schedule. Two very good things to hear about.:dancingpa

Coty Roberts is back and should be the one back that gets most of the carries. He can break away or he can grind it out. He should be one of the best in the State. LC has got skill players behind him at RB and also some very good skill players at WR and TE and QB. Not sure how much I will be able to watch them this year, but I will be there if they are still playing at Thanksgiving.

The 15th region Championship will be a rematch of the 57th District Championship with the Bulldogs taking on the Golden Eagles of Johnson Central. Should be a classic game. GO DAWGS!!!

Upper bracket Allen Central vs. Pike County Central Lawrence Co. vs. East Ridge Lower bracket Johnson Central vs. Belfry Pikeville vs. Prestonburg The Lower bracket is tough. I think this is a good draw for my Bulldogs. What is everyone else take on this region?

No doubt that these two are the best in the 15th region tourney. Way to go Dawgs and good luck to both.

Was this a draw or seeded? If a draw tough draw for 2 of the 3 Top teams in the 15th region playing in the first round. Lawrence the third team that is in the Top 3 in the 15th looks to have a easy way to the Championship game but we face Sheldon Clark's #1 and if they win there will face the Hornets #1 pitchers.

I think Lawrence County should be ranked. They have only 4 losses to teams from Kentucky. Only one Region loss which also is their only district loss to Johnson Central a team they beat also 9-4 then lost 2-1. They avenged one of the state team losses when they beat Raceland this past Monday 7-5. Out of the 4 teams out of state they lost to 3 was on Spring Break and they other one was to Wayne, WV which is a Class AA power in the state of WV and has been for years with several State Championships. Nice work though, you put alot of time into it. You should try to do some free lance writing about your poll to some local newspapers.

Yes they have and I believe that is a testament that Kentucky high school football is improving statewide.
