4A 2007 Playoff Scenario

Recommended Posts

Remember folks, these threads are just for fun for us to compare what would happen this year if every team had everyone back in the current playoff format.

I will have to give jimmyref the credit for the idea to do this. I did however do mine just a tad different....I'm using a winning percentage to determine the seeding and playoff results.

So here is what Class 4A would end up looking like:

(Teams in italics will, of course, not be included in the playoff scenario but I'm including them for records purposes. ALSO, for in an instance a tie occurs, I went to see if those teams played each other and broke it that way OR if they didn't play each other, I used a points scored/points allowed ratio to break the tie.)

Remember folks, this is for fun so please don't feel like we're knocking your team by having them lose in a round that you think they could have won.

Please keeps your comments to the "results" that I've posted.

And for those of you who are wondering, I just as surprised as you that Rockcastle County, in this set-up, is the winner. Although I think Rockcastle County had a good team last year, never did I think when I started this thing for jimmyref that Rockcastle County would be the "4A State Champion".

THANKS!!!!

For those of you who are wondering about the other 3 classes, I will go ahead and post them as soon as I can tomorrow.

I have a really long day with a desk hours and a group checking out.

It will be sometime around 7-8 before I can get back online...the desk where I'm doing those hours doesn't have a computer.

Thanks for your patience!!!!

Looks pretty good overall in my opinion. The only comment that I have other than I believe Lexington Cath is the best in this class, is that Lawrence Co. will not be the same LC that you have seen the past couple years. IMO LC is the best in its district and has a great shot of becoming district champs. The Bulldogs have a new offense and new philosophy that apparently is showing alot of promise. But overall pretty good.

4A District 7.....I see this district different. Madison Southern will be in the finals, will beat Knox Central(like last year and Southern even played a bad game)and will beat McCreary. Madison Southern played last year after losing at least 15 starting seniors (many started both ways). This year they have only lost about 5. Defense was the problem last year but now these players have more experience.I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have a great season. Also, just heard they hired a good defensive coordinator (former college coach),so I'm hearing they are looking better. Also, got a top quarterback, Zach McGuire, leading the offense.

As far as Madison Southern, I do see them making the playoffs as probably a 3 seed traveling to Rockcastle County in the first round and losing.

Like I've said i other threads...these "Playoff Scenario" threads are just a fun way to look at what would happen should we take the winning percentage of the teams from last year and make a bracket that way.

There are many match-ups in all 6 classes that definitely would go the way o the team with highest winning percentage but for just this one occassion, it does.

Im not real impressed with Districts 1-4 versus Districts 5-8.

Now, I'll give you that Rock, Bell, and Lex. Cath are a cut above the Western half. As for Boyle, that remains to be seen. I'll take Warren East, Franklin Simpson, or North Bullitt against any of the East with the exception of the afore mentioned.

There was a reason MSHS played a bad game last season. They ran up against a young KC team that was just beginning to come into it's own. The outcome will be different this season and others to come. In fact, I liked what I saw coming out of McCreary last year and I predict Southern will sit out the playoffs once again.

No actually MSHS had some injured players for that game....and no sense going into those details now... But we'll see ...should be a good game between Knox and Southern.

Injuries happen and if I remember correctly KC was without a starting running back for that game. If you want to be a considered a playoff contender you must develop depth and bring your A game everytime. Regardless, it will be decided in October.
