:confused:Everyone has the "Go Teams" and "Sack the quarterback" cheers. The "Jacket Pride" thread got me to thinking about it. What does your individual school rally around? Where did it come from? Lynn Camp has picked up the "Hoo-Rah" chant from somewhere. It is sort of like the military "Oorah", but sounds different. I have no real clue to where that one got going. Also, how many of you go by two different mascot type names? LC has the Wildcats as a mascot name, but have unofficialy picked up the old "Hitmen" nickname also. Whitley County has the Colonels, but has "Red Storm" as an alter ego. How about the rest of you? Any "Friday Night Lights" clever sayings around your team? Any identity problems?

This one scares me. The way we have not been moving the ball worries me. The way Harlan has been moving the ball worries me. Dragons are much improved. Cats are struggling to find themselves after a tough schedule and tough start. Everything seems in Harlan's favor right now....:idunno:

I meant offensivelly. Sorry. I was not trying to make a "this year" comparison, just how much they remind me of the Jackets when they have the ball. Pineville has some good players on defense. Good size, too.

Pineville looks like the 2nd coming of Williamsburg now! They throw the ball, very nicely, all over the field. Their defense is a lot better this year, also. Hats off to the Pineville Mountain Lions and their staff. Much improved and very dangerous! This one was in doubt until late in the game. Fun one to watch. LC is going to have to limit mistakes if they are to have a chance this week, though.

It was very questionable. Watched it again this morning. These are the ones that hurt. I heard Merida had upwards of 200 yards rushing. Moses had good numbers. The Williamsburg D is really missing Rollins this year. Is Root injured? I don't remember hearing his name on the radio friday.

I have heard he is one of the cornerstones to the Jacket's D this year. Is he hurt bad?

I think that you are on to something, FMJ. Without the serious injuries, W'burg would be competitive for their whole schedule and Moses would have done well. We had the same thing happen in '07 and '08. BUT: What is the "Jacket Pride" chant about?????

After a rough 3 game start, Lynn Camp returns to 1A mountain football. We're a little banged up and facing a Mountain Lion team that handled a Berea team that was getting votes in many of the 1A polls last week. This one is at Lynn Camp. I see a close game, and will go with the Cats for their first win in 2009. Lynn Camp 28 Pineville 21 What does everyone else think?

I was thinking today, what do you consider a good year for your team? .500? A district title? Region Title? Semi Finals? State Finals? A lot of small schools and non-traditional powers don't have the teams year in and year out like some schools that are judged by State apperances. What constitutes a good year for your school in your opinion? What makes you feel warm and fuzzy when the season is over?

NL is improved. Corbin is still a little better. Corbin by a couple of scores.

Amen! It's been a rough start. Its Pineville next week and a vastly improved Harlan team the next. Then Campbellsville. A drop off from what we have been playing, but no walk in the park as we get into mountain ball and district play. We end it all with Clinton County, Williamsburg, Berea and McCreary (with Watts, who is the type of player that has been doing the real damage to us.) Still a lot of hard football for the Cats to play.

All I can say is :scared:! You can quote me if you like. The Eagles are for real. LCA looks like a team primed and ready to take it all. Hayden is still Hayden. The QB and Receiver (#1) are a lethal combo, too, to go with Hayden. #1 had to have a BUNCH of receiving yards. I think the score was 22-0 when Lynn Camp scored first time. Must have made them mad. They reeled off about a trillion points after that....:lol: :ohbrother: Seriously. We just could not stop Hayden and the receiver when they started rolling. It was 15-0 at the end of the 1st qtr. It went to 22-0 when Steele broke loose for Lynn Camp on a long TD run. After that, LCA locked down on D and went crazy moving the ball. LCA can score F-A-S-T and in a ton of ways. They're Defense is much better than the times I saw them last year. (Not that it was bad last year. It stepped up a notch, too.) Thanks go out to the LCA bunch. Thanks for the hospitality and wonderful atmosphere. Thanks for the pizza for the kids afterwards. Y'all are still classy! We're looking forward to hosting you down here next year!:thumb:

Sounds like Williamsburg is starting to feel the injuries. Who did the damage for Harlan?

I know, volfan. The dogfight and scoring was happening while all starters were in. LCA was just too much to end the half.

:thumb: Bluto, are those ruts that were in the field during last year's game fixed? Those things worried me to death last year.

Might want to check your facts. Burg had 3 scores on the board by the half. Starters from both sides were still in at that time. Score was 28-21 when LCA made a push with about 5 minutes left in the half. They rolled on the Jackets after that, but the 3 scores I mentioned were already up there. I was there and saw the game, too.:idunno: 28 is still more than 21, also, from the Harlan and LC games. IF the Dragons hold them to one less score, that is still 3 TDs. I said I can't see anyone much keeping them under 21. Their offense is just too efficient. You can say what you want, but they will score points on almost everyone.

BUT it can't get any uglier than last year. Only thing that would make it worse is injuries.

We've worried about that all week DC. Maybe some pressure will make a difference. Although, I watched the Moses kid on Youtube. He can avoid pressure and make big plays. Good looking athlete. Pressuring him IS the problem. We got in on him a couple of times last year and he just kept getting back up. He can elude AND take the hit.... Harlan can possibly find a way to win this game, but I am sticking to W'burg scoring more than 3 times. Moses is the difference. If Harlan cannot deal with him, it will be a VERY long night for the Dragons.

Berea is showing "also receiving votes" in many polls. I think Pineville can get it done, though, by 10.

I knew it had been awhile and knew it was someone pretty good on D that had done it. The Jackets are hard to keep from scoring. I don't know how much Harlan's secondary can bend without breaking. Williamsburg picks and picks at you until they finally break on the big stuff.

I cannot see the Dragons keeping Williamsburg to 3 or less scores. Lexington Christian did not do it last year. Anyone know the last time Burg was held to 21 or under?
