  1. With that in mind — and I'm not suggesting Mr. Ross ever engaged in such things — but how weird would it be to find out years after the fact that he was some sadistic violence junky or wife-beater? I would be more shocked about that than I was about Tiger Woods.
  2. They're all on NetFlix these days, from what I've read. Sounds like some good hangover therapy. I do love me some little happy trees.
  3. There's probably better choices to make in Louisville than Portland, but yeah, I see your point. Still, though, I don't think anybody on this board would feel safer in Paris' worst neighborhoods than the West End of Louisville beyond folks in the West End speaking your language, mostly. And with Paris being about 10x bigger than L'ville, that makes it a much scarier place. Especially since a knowledge of French might not do you much good there.
  4. This has been a difficult year for deaths in the music world. I got to shake his hand once and exchange words, and I'm glad for that.
  5. So all those "no-non-Muslim-may-go-here" neighborhoods that Mt. Ref talks about in all of Europe's major cities don't actually exist?
  6. I'm guessing it's because you didn't go to their roughest neighborhoods. Nobody goes willingly into South Chicago or any other urban hell-hole, just like no European tourists go to the worst neighborhoods in Europe's many, many cities of 1 million-plus people. Their ghettoes are just as crummy as ours.
  7. So he's been to all the tourist spots, that are generally scrubbed of "unpleasant" things. Did your friend hang out much in the 'hood?
  8. You think gang violence is a strictly American thing?
  9. That raises an interesting question I had not considered. However, the reason I never considered it is because when does this ever happen? How many neo-NAZI types do you know who want to be world travelers and soak in other cultures? So I guess that kinda trumps that, since they don't like nonwhites and wouldn't be going there anyway.
  10. Interesting. One way or another, the mechanism is in place for Coach Stallworth to get what he needs to succeed.
  11. So the local folks decided Coach Fudge wasn't so bad after all?
  12. Don't forget 1A: "Have they foresaken all other silly sports to dedicate their life to the only one that truly matters?"
  13. I enjoy the track and field and some grapplin'. Might watch a little hoops and swimming. Will definitely watch some beach VB. I do find myself watching some of the offbeat sports. Fencing is totally transfixing. Kind of dig the trampoline and some of the gymnastics.
  14. The way the freeze-frame on that video ^ looks, it seems as if the one kid is resting the gun upon a much smaller kid, who has his/her legs rolled way back. And perhaps double-jointed. Anyway, just looks weird.
  15. The Pride of Ft. Campbell and WKU was a steady point-scorer last year. But like Tom Rathman, don't ask him for 2.
  16. Perhaps. But the facts are that white folks, as a group, have always had the power in this country. Good, bad or indifferent, that adds a different texture to the argument of white power v. black power v. brown power (Latinos) and whether any of them have any real power to impose their will upon anyone. Only one group in this country has ever had that.
  17. It doesn't matter that you don't know the name of the song or artist. Just that it has displaced "Rock And Roll, Part 2" by the deplorable Gary Glitter as the song of choice at sporting events. And you definitely know it. As does my 72-year-old dad and 69-year-old mom. And everybody down and up to any age who watches any kind of sports.
  18. Never hurts to have the top two or three. Led to four rings for the Steelers way back when.
  19. Don't laugh. Consider the possibility of "Seven Nation Army."
  20. It'd be something by The Beatles or Bob Dylan. Could end up being "Imagine."
  21. Thinking proactively on this hypothetical, if the Bengals landed Brown, they could get a mint for Green Alligator Arms.
  22. So Brown would be a 3rd or 4th option in the Bengals passing game? Behind whom? I don't care what team in the NFL it is, Brown is instantly the No. 1 option in the passing game.
