  1. More kids play who happen to be students in Campbell County Schools sounds like a great feeder program. Why should they play second  to an outside program? Especially when one of its leaders seems very bent on discounting efforts to get more kids involved in Camel football. Perhaps that is why the CCYFL is being defended more than it is complained about.
  2. :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb: These past few months I think they should close some very famous golf courses in Las Vegas and San Diego. They were brown! Bermuda, even in the warm parts turns color. Of course, the rates were cheaper!:ylsuper:
  3. Then why do you spend so much of your time concerned about them?
  4. All I can say to this silly commentary is the ones who are involved and using the field are very pleased with its condition. Things have improved, as one post said best in 20 years. You on the other hand have some personal animosity that is really not shared by all the people you reference. Fact is, things are getting done and better than they have ever been. As for yourself, your really not involved in anything and your loyalty is not even with the Camels. Motive is a serious question here. As for coaches who were fired, hey if you want Corson back hire him.
  5. Is the field material in question nylon or polypropylene. Nylon will residue into lead. Polypropylene will not. I bet the fields in question are nylon. Any field made of nylon will probably have to deal with this issue.
  6. Very wide brush being applied. Make sure that standard is applied across the whole deck.
  7. Didn't Bob Schneider from Newport Central Catholic predict this when complaining to the Lexington Christian group (who still do not think they did nothing wrong)? Many of you hate to hear this but guess who runs education in this state in terms of operation and policy? Its not the Dept. of Ed, school boards or the KHSAA. It is the superintendents. I predict as this plays out you will find a move to totally revamp and overtake the KHSAA and it will become an entity controlled by the superintendent's association, not athletic directors. The end result will be resolved issues with much harder sanctions for those who violate the rules.
  8. 5 runs in one inning and all unearned? No real Camel threat until the end of game? Wow.
  9. Four games in three days! Good job Mustangs.
  10. Actually their teacher organization has great influence on competitive pay for critical fields. Why don't teachers force their organization to acknowledge the difference? Great things would happen.
  11. A few things that seem to be ignored. One, there was a time a generation ago where teachers did part time work in the summer, odd jobs, etc. Today, you just do not see it. Teachers are given 187 day contracts. End of story. They are paid to those amount of days only. Many elect to take their pay over the year. Two, in many standards the Kentucky Teacher Retirement System is rated as one of the best, if not the best in the nation. Given our overall economy in this state that is simply unreal. Teachers are very short sighted to not acknowledge this huge benefit. Are they overpaid? It is the market. I question anyone who wishes to enter into this field with full knowledge of compensation standards and complains about it later. The teaching industry will never be fairly compensated. Our society will simply not accept the tax obligation to do that. Very few industries are you pretty much assured and can plan on a pay scale from your first year until you retire with the very real fact that pay scale will actually go up every year. Yes teachers, a step increase is a pay raise. Yes, you can be paid more in many private sectors but with the risk of being laid off, let go at any given time. You can have your job reassigned right out from underneath you. And change, it happens daily, deal with it. Dealing with horrible students is not for everyone. Dealing with trying to work hard and by no effort on your own you are let go, it is the way of business. There are trade offs. Most telling, you know what you are getting before you decide to be a teacher.
  12. Rockmom, I am with you on this but what I see in this is the mother taking the effort to make this public. Dad is a stock photo, she is standing in a pose. Why is that an issue? This is something that strictly belongs in the courts to decide. We have a minor child and there is something very required on minor issues - privacy. The mother makes points the courts will see. In the realm of public opinion she is grandstanding and has no business doing that.
  13. C Squared you are the one with the agenda. That is very clear. You are trying to make it out to players. Try understanding the posts. It is stating very clearly the coaching or lack of such going on by at least one paid coach. I will ask you straight up. Is it OK in your mind for a coach who accepted the position to never attend any preseason workout, weight training, condiditioning, tryouts, practices and games and then just show up. Does not matter what the story is. Is it acceptable in your mind. That is a fairly easy question and a major point in this entire thread. Not asking if it is OK with the head coach because it seems to be OK, I am asking YOU is this an OK thing to do? And Buford you seem to think this is just a handful of incidents. It is a handful and that is the number of times showing up, NOT MISSING. Get the facts straight.
  14. As a taxpayer I have an ax to grind with any public employee who is getting paid to do something and hardly shows up. Are you really justifying it? Wow, do as I say not as I do........ As for posting when and where, I really do not care who it offends. If this offends the world of the Camel coaching staff, so what?! Coach finally shows up after the season started, misses virtually all practices and most tryouts and now sits in decisions on the game???? Give me a break. I will sit well with public opinion on this. You can make your case in defense of not showing up but I bet all taxpayers, players and parents will not find this as willing as you. I think it is great this is getting out there. Best thing that could happen is the offending person may wake up and actually start to earn his pay. Worst thing to happen is the coach leaves, so what - he has hardly been there.
  15. Typical tenured justification. Try a little reality as to how hard many people who work, then turn around and volunteer for more things than those who know the amount paid. Ever measure up the amount a volunteer makes over the same, if not more time? As to teachers being complained about. Yep.
  16. There is nothing malicious asking questions and/or posting facts. It is done freely and fairly strong on student/athletes. It only gets testy when coaches or teachers are held to the same standard?! Not sure I get that one. The bottom line in my opinion people who are paid to do a job, any job have a responsibility to that job. To option out for something fun instead of doing the job is not responsible. There really is no explanation that should be given. It simply should not happen. In many places it is called respect for the program. When it starts like that everyone will fall in line with the respect. When it falls short of that the same consequence will happen. Frankly, teachcoach1 this is an excellent reason for this site to post what is expected and desired. And bottom line, the most important thing you state is kids playing sports, no question about that and those who are paid to do perform those coaching tasks have obligations to do just that. How can you call this malicious?
  17. C Squared a question for you: Is it true the head coach attended a regional basketball game instead of the last day for tryouts and has a pattern of attending the Sweet Sixteen tournament and cancels all weekend baseball practice on the eve of the start of season? Is this acceptable in your mind? Is it fair to the players? Is it a responsible action? Is it true players have missed practices for strictly personal and convenient reasons? Is it true some players took it upon themselves to hold their own practice because the varsity had none scheduled? Is it true the coach has already stated this is his last year and has been quite clear in his negative opinions? Is it true the assistant coach has been MIA from virtually day one and has been on a cruise or something? Add in the games but missed virtually all the practices? Should the school, players and parents simply sit back and say this is all OK?
  18. Now think about that statement for a minute. As a taxpayer I wonder, why would teachers not join, at least at the state level and make changes? Why as a taxpayer we should consider the issues for teachers if they cannot or will not change their own advocacy positions? But, teachers may elect to use the benefits for them?! Do you not see the inconsistency of this message? Perhaps you may start to see why the public gets a little unconcerned about the issues at hand. Your own profession is not focused on what should happen. But, there has to be teachers who are members, otherwise they would not have the funding or the support! I suggest if all teachers felt this way, join and overtake by vote the organization. As you well know, KEA already has a lock on many policies at the state level.
