OK, lets just disagree because we all know there's a difference in facts and excuses. After reading all your posts, I'm surprised you take that stance. Holmes has how many district/regional championships? Silver Grove, Bellevue, Dayton, Walton, Villa etc. etc. etc. have how many? Whats the common denominator? Simple, it's school size/participants, not quality of coaches plain and simple!

If Ludlow does anything will be more about the fact that they have a lengthy defense rather than a potent offense. They have Williamson coming back who is as good as any player in the conference when he is playing smart and motivated. Shelton came on last year as a bit of a shooter and a guy that can pick up garbage buckets, but to be a factor in the offense he is going to be challenged to put the ball on the ground. Teams tended to let him get away with opens jumpshots, not anymore.

Will coach Smith also be coaching at the Grove? Who's going to coach the Tigers?

C'mon LN.......I don't think you're thinking this through. SGrove comes to mind. When they had players, they won. When Brossart had players, they won. Some schools simply don't have "players" they have bodies, and no matter what the coach does, you can't get milk from a turnip. Your point may better apply to larger schools than smaller, however, because at least the bigger schools have better odds of having "players" to develop as opposed to "bodies" to put on the court.

Whoa whoa whoa... So let me make sure that I'm hearing this right... This guy is 7'2'' and a legit NBA prospect. And IF CLEARED is going to be eligible to play, THIS SEASON? Like the one starting in 2 1/2 months?

Can't we come to an agreement that winning alone does not qualify one as the "best coach"? Both are good guys and good coaches, but somewhere along the lines, we need to recognize that some good coaches have less talent and some lesser talented coaches have better players (that doesn't mean Listerman, Henley, Fausz and others are lesser talented coaches....just making a point):irked:

Thats an understatement... Its good to see him recognized. As has been said, great player, great person. One of two players to have their numbers retired in Dayton history. Generally a "legend" in that small town. Walk into any random place in that city and mention "Skirvin" and the odds are someone will buy you a drink if you listen to whatever particular "Skirvin" story they have. Congrats to Skirv...

Everyone in NKY respects Listerman. He is a very good coach. That said, the best coach in this region is Dave Faust. Hands down...

I wanted to emphasize AS A RED because I don't mean as far as his entire career goes, because I think in the end we will all remember the always smilin', backwards hat-wearin' Kid in Seattle... What I mean is of his time with the Reds, what is the biggest/best memory you will have of him... I'll go first... Number 1 will probably be a game I went to earlier this season vs the Pirates. Somehow we ended up sitting next to the only Pirates fans in the park, who decided to boast all night. The Reds were down going into the ninth 3-2. Ross led off with a double, and Griff, who had entered in a double switch followed with a walkoff. I caught a little bit of the two pirates fans as they left very quickly out of their seats. Number 2 is probably a game last year after he came of the DL. It was his first game off the DL. The Reds had a lead the entire game and blew it in the ninth (I'm pretty sure this was complements of Stormy). They proceded to play to the thirteenth when they gave up 3 runs. Me and a buddy of mine who were at the game left at that point complaining of how they can't hold a lead and a variety of other things. As I walked into my house, the first thing I did was turn on the TV (it was already on FSN) just intime to see the first pitch to Griff with the bases loaded. Over the fence, game over. At that point, I vowed to never leave a game until it was over, ever again.

I don't know... I'm fairly confused... In the first couple of posts you had on here you adressed the teams "heart" and "pride." Then you questioned whether they "try." Then you say that you aren't talking about their "pride" but their "effort" and apparently "pride" and "effort" are synonymous.

I hope that one of those tricks is to pull some bodies out of a hat, caus I hear the numbers are waaaaaayyyyy down!:eek:

Is it true that this little river city school is without a girls coach too? I heard that they are not only looking for a boys coach, but now a girls coach. Who knows what's happening in our small river city school?:irked:

CC, while I see where you are going with that, I'm not sure thats fair. Some coaches in "lower income" schools give the shirts off their backs to kids and their families while the players are playing. They instill discipline, work ethic, and responsibility. Unfortunately, all too often, there are "lesser educated" influences that take over once the hoops career is over. I've seen it, I've lived it. Based on your theory, (if I understand correctly)any superstar who excelled to the extent of playing at the next level and then got in trouble, they must not have had a good coach early on. Not trying to stir the pot, but with all due respect, not sure I agree with your blanket statement.

Just an observation......all the coaches mentioned are "good" coaches in someones eyes, however many times I think some of the better coaches also include the ones from smaller schools who get little recognition, but get a ton out of what they have (a couple that come to mind are Dilts and Vandermeer) Thus, my pick would include Fausz, who somewhat fits that "smaller school" description. JMO

KI was a lot better when Paramount ran the place... I used to get a gold pass but the year they sold it the rides started to break down a lot more and there weren't as many "maintence" people to repair them causing longer waits and less rides. I haven't been this summer for probably the first time in 6 or 8 years...
