  1. Someone I was watching with pointed this out also... And I agree... On a side note, did anyone else think that Bela Karolyi was awesome in his analysis? He knows what he is talking about, is a USA homer, and every chance he got talked about China's underage gymnast... Even at the end he said "China had a great performance... But it was with underage gymnast that were 14 and 15 and shouldn't be legally competing.... But nevertheless, it was a great performance"
  2. I have a question for anyone that knows anything about olympic gymnastics... Chelsie Memmel and Sam Peszek are hurt for the US womens gymnastics team, so they are down to four competitors... Why aren't they allowed to insert two of their alternates?
  3. I see your point... I guess my line of thinking was more along the line of the mens gymnastics competition where strength is key rather than just flexibility...
  4. He and Horton had to have qualified for a few of the individual events...
  5. That's what I was going to say... If there is an open cut I would try throwin' some salt in it too...
  6. Oh and by the way, no way those girls are 16. Shawn Johnson is face of the US womens gymnastics team and she barely looks 16, but she looks 3 or 4 years older than the Chinese gymnast. An interesting question about the situation I have is however... Why? Do you really think that the 16-20 year old Chinese gymnast aren't as good as the supposed younger gymnast?
  7. Actually I've watched a lot of the water polo lately, as the US was involved in close games on both the mens and womens sides in the past two days, with China and Italy... I haven't been able to figure out what exactly the position is that plays directly in front of the goalie, but I have been able to determine that the offensive and defensive players in that spot are doing everything but drowning each other for position, and when they get close enough to actually drowning one another, a major foul is called...
  8. Apples and oranges!!!!!!!!! :rolleyes:And if dad's needlessly breathing down his neck, shame on him!.....If dad's seeing that he makes sound decisions, good for him. Maybe "dads" (and moms) should breath down the necks a little more and quit making that the teachers job......but thats for another thread.:irked:
  9. I'm simply saying if the school is good enough for mom/dad to work at, then mom/dad should feel confident enough in that system and what they are doing at that system to want that system to educate their children. If mom/dad thinks the system is subpar, why are they teaching there (and because it's a job don't work for me, because there are teachers/administrators needed all around this state)
  10. Don't know if this is true, however I've heard that Villa is seeking a JV coach
  11. I'm aware of an administrator who sent their kids to the elementary school in the district whereby said administrator was employed, but when HS came around, the transfer happened. I just think if you are an administrator, you should be confident and willing to send your child to the school you are willing to have support you.....JMO
  12. So what are the odds at this point that A) This guy ever plays for UC... B) This guy plays THIS SEASON for UC...
  13. I find myself in this endless cycle... Every year, at the end of another disappointing Reds season I convince myself that this is the year for the Bengals; then the Bengals leave me disappointed just in time to start looking forward to spring training and convince myself that this is the year for the Reds. And then it starts over...
  14. I've been told this as well. From what I hear, the "volleyball powers that be" would not agree to some of the requirements of the real "ALL A" as we know it and started by Steidel years ago. Thus, they started their own, which IMO was a mistake, because the real "ALL A" people have done a great job and are a proven thing. In addition, I've heard the "real ALL A" folks have a copyright on the name, and either have, or will be pursuing the others to quit calling their tourney the "ALL A".
  15. I just saw a report that 6 teams are interested in Pennington, including possibly, the Vikings. Now this is all in theory, but wouldn't it just be great poetic justice, if Pennington were to sign with the Vikings, win the starters job, take them to the post season, beat the Packers in the NFC championship to go on to face his former team quarterbacked by Farve who was supposed to end up in the spot that he would theoretically be in, with the Vikings in the Super Bowl...
  16. Hmm... Never thought of it... It's certainly possible, even if not likely, but I'd have thought they would have mentioned it. I know that the La. team's pitcher's Dad was a minor leaguer for a short time in the 90's because everytime they showed the kid on camera they mentioned it. However, maybe this Fotenot kid just didn't put that bit of information on his info sheet...
  17. Did anyone watch that Southwest final between the team from Texas and the team from Louisiana? La. hit a game tieing homerun in bottom of the 6th with 2 outs, then they gave one up in the top of the 7th when it was apparent that another inning was not going to be started until the next day (LL rules prohibit a new inning from being started after 11 PM). So they went to bat in the bottom of the 7th needing a run to extend the game to the next day and two to end it. The 8 hole hitter took one out to dead center to start the inning, then a kid drew a walk, advanced on a slow roller to the shortstop, and to third on a single to left. Texas drew the infield in and got a ground ball to the shortstop that held up the runner. After working the count to 2-2, a curve in the dirt got away from the catcher and they scored the winning run. All this after being down 6-3. Quite a game, and its only the first they've shown I believe. And for anyone planning on watching, if you see this Louisiana team, watch this Ken Fotenot kid. About 6' ft 150 at 12 years old. Looks like a man amongst boys out there. 2 HR's, including one that tied the game in the 6th, and made a backhanded play in the SS/3rd hole, turn and throw from one foot (if that) and got him...
  18. They need a CF leadoff hitter with speed and a high OBP. They need a right handed power bat that that can hit at least in the .270-.280 range consistantly. This said right handed bat either needs to be a SS, LF, 1B, or C, depending on a couple things. If they think that Alonso is going to be ready really fast, then I would move Votto to left. With the catching situation, I think it would be realistic to hope for a catcher that is good defensively and with the pitchers, and is just adequate at the plate. Depending on how you fill those holes will determine what you look for at short...
  19. Why not? If I'm a tax paying resident of Bellevue, then I'm part of the "general public", and I have a right to know! By the way, I do know!
  20. As in on the field at 7 AM and off at noon, meaning 5 hours on the field for 1 practice? I have been around football at a few different levels and never have I seen that done. Five hours on the field not only increases chance of injury but will create burnout for a lot of kids. And then to throw another 2 hour practice on after that? As respectfully as I can be, I don't see any sense in that. Now, I have been around teams that have 7 to 12 "practice" that includes arrive at 7 meeting at 7:30 on the field at 8 off the field at 10 to 10:15ish then a half hour break and then into the weight room til roughly 12.
  21. I think that conversation may be for another thread...
  22. Depending on the day I would guess I send and receive around 50 a day... But there have been points in my life where I would send and receive probably around 250 to 300 a day... I prefer to text over calling someone because I don't like to get into drug out conversations on the phone, where as I don't mind if I get into one on text. Frankly, there are points where I would rather just not talk to someone but need to relay them a message, so text comes in handy there.
